Pampanga's Best Heritage & Food Tour. Lubao, Sasmuan, Guagua, Betis, Bacolor, San Fernado, Angeles

It was our first time to explore the interior towns of Pampanga, and we were extremely excited.
After our adventure in Zambales, we entered Pampanga via Lubao and visited its Bamboo Hub and Park. We were very happy to see many varieties of bamboos.
Later, we drove through interior roads of Lubao, Sasmuan, Guagua, Betis and Bacolor. We marveled at their beautiful heritage churches, ancestral houses and beautiful plazas. We were particularly amazed by the magnificently painted ceiling of the Santiago de Apostol Church in Betis and the fully restored sunken church of San Guillermo in Bacolor.
Another gem which we discovered was the old train station in San Fernando which was built in 1892. It was also very historic as the Filipino & American soldiers were loaded here after walking for over 100 kilometers during the infamous Death March.
No Pampanga tour is complete without stopping for pasalubong at Susie's Cuisine in Angeles and trying the best sisig in the world, the original Aling Lucing's.

Bacolor is a municipality located in the province of Pampanga, Philippines. It is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance.

One of the main attractions in Bacolor is the San Guillermo Parish Church, also known as the Bacolor Church, which was built in the 16th century and has survived multiple natural disasters, including the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991. The church is considered a national cultural treasure and is a popular destination for tourists.

In addition, Bacolor played an important role in Philippine history as the site of the Battle of Bacolor during the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule in the late 19th century.

Sexmoan, Sasmuan, Sesmuan?

SASMUAN BALEN KUNG TIBUAN (A Journey To Its Name)
SEXMOAN - THE TRUTH BEHIND ITS NAME

This is a documentary showing how Sasmuan got its present name and where it was derived from. It focuses more on the town's history and a glimpse to its rich culture and tradition.

The history written in WIKIPEDIA is not complete, what we shared came directly from Sasmuan archives. We made this video to correct the history of Sasmuan that's why we have invited Mr. Jayson Salenga (Sasmuan Tourism Head) to share the complete and most accurate history of Sasmuan, beginning from it's name. The original name is SASMOAN then transitioned to SESMOAN (Cesmoan) (name written in the first map). SESMOAN was pronounced SEXMOAN by the Spaniards overheard by the Americans and they literally spelled it how they heard it, so it became SEXMOAN for the longest time until January 1991.

Lubao Bamboo Hub and Eco-Park

The Lubao Bamboo Hub is an eco-tourism destination located by the riverbank of Sta. Catalina in Lubao, Pampanga. The bamboo hub serves as both a protective shield against threats of soil erosion and a tourist destination. It has been open to visitors since 2017. Aside from serving as a disaster response, the bamboo was also eyed to be used as an alternative to commercial lumber.
The project's objective was to create a sustainable livelihood program for farmers and the community's families by turning bamboo into different products. To further promote the wonders and uses of bamboo, the six-hectare property along the riverbank was developed into an eco-tourism destination. Managed by the Lubao Municipal Government, the Lubao Bamboo Hub and Eco-Park attracts around 600 visitors every weekend.
With its bending bamboo culms forming a canopy, resembling an enchanting forest overhead, the Lubao Bamboo Hub is a relaxing tourist destination for people who want to relax and take a stroll. Visitors can rent a bike to roam around the park. There's also a fish spa, good for the removal of dead skin and calluses. Tourists can also rent a kayak or boat where they can enjoy a relaxing ride along Gumain river.

Best time to visit

It's best to visit the Lubao Bamboo Hub in the afternoon, around 3 to 5 PM, when the sun isn't too high. The hub is open to visitors daily from 8 AM to 5 PM.
