Northern Line Pt 13: Sawankhalok Branch Line: a rarely travelled journey - Thai Railways
In the Northern Line Pt. 13 we take a detour from our journey, which started at the northern terminal station of Chiang Mai, travelling south. In this section we leave the Northern Line, at Ban Dara Junction, and travel west along the 29 km long branch line to the terminal station of Sawankhalok, a facinating journey. This line was opened in 1909 and at the time of filming only opperated a single passenger train, a Sprinter service, to and from Sawankhalok each day. Sawankhalok station is 487.14 km from Bangkok, and the 29 km journey takes around 30 minutes.
Stations passed en route to Sawankhalok:
Khlong Lamung (possibly disused) - 7 min 28 sec
Khlong Maphlap - 12 min 10sec
Nong Riang (possibly disused) - 24 Min

โครงการ Experiencing ASEAN Pop Culture เป็นความคิดริเริ่มจากทางการท่องเที่ยวแห่งประเทศไทยในการสนับสนุนเมืองรองในด้านการท่องเที่ยวผ่านการสร้างชิ้นงานศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัยที่จะดึงดูดนักท่องเที่ยวที่ปัจจุบันมีหลากหลายมิติ การสร้างสรรงานศิลปะที่เกิดขึ้นไม่เพียงแต่ช่วยให้เมืองมีเสน่ห์ในมุมของศิลปะอีกทั้งยังก่อให้เกิดการมีส่วนร่วมในชุมชนอีกด้วย
