Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve is a protected area and tiger reserve in the Eastern Ghats in the Erode District of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It has a tiger population of 83 individuals and a leopard population of 111 individuals according to the 2019 census.

Bannari amman temple
About 300 years ago, Bannari was known as Dhandanyakkan Forest. It is famous for the Bannari Amman Temple, which is about 14 km from Sathyamangalam. Special bus services are operated to bring devotees from Sathyamangalam and Coimbatore to this temple during festivals and holidays. The surrounding forest area is rife with elephants, wild pigs, bears, deer, hare, monkeys and peacocks.

Many people visit this place but not the internal places where the vehicles are difficult to go. And had interaction with the tribal people. Tasted the different fruits growing in this area. The travel in this ghat section is very enjoyable. The animals like elephants, tigers, Leopard, Black panthers, Deer, bears, and many other animals live in this forest. Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve is one of the famous tiger reserve in Tamilnadu. It is situated in Erode district. Sathyamangalam is situated on the southern side of the Western Ghats, which extend towards the east from the Nilgiri mountains. Sathyamangalam forests was declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 2008 and as a tiger reserve in 2013. Sathyamangalam was declared as reserve forest under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. The 2009 wildlife survey enumerated 10 Bengal tigers, 866 Indian elephants, 672 gaurs, and 27 leopards.
I was stay in Evergreen Resort at Hasanur and this is situated in Sathyamangalam Forest, Erode district. This is situated inside the forest and lot of elephants and Leopards are roaming surround the resort. That stay experience was awesome and very thrill. Erode District is a district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It was the largest district by area in the
state before the formation of Tirupur District in 2009. The headquarters of the district is Erode. It is
divided into two revenue divisions, Erode and Gobichettipalayam, and is further subdivided into 10
taluks. Erode District, then known as, was a part of Coimbatore District before its division into two on
September 17, 1979. It covers an area of 5,722 square kilometres (2,209 sq mi), and as of 2011,
had a population of 2,251,744 .
History
The region belonging to present-day Erode District was ruled successively by several South Indian
dynasties, including the Cheras, Cholas and Pandyas. During the first millennium, it was under the
rule of the Chera Dynasty and various other rulers. Between the 10th to 12th centuries, the region
was part of the larger Chola Empire. The region became part of Vijayanagara empire in the 14th
century, then under the Nayaks of Madurai until the 17th century. Under the Madurai Nayaks, the
Polygar system of administration was established. The Polygar system continued after the region
became part of the Kingdom of Mysore in the mid-17th century.
The Polygar chieftain Dheeran Chinnamalai, a governor of the region, played a major role in the
early struggle for Indian Independence in the late 18th-century Polygar Wars against the British East
India Company. After the Polygar and Mysore Wars in the late 18th century, the area came under
the control of the British until the achievement of Indian independence in 1947. It was a part of the
erstwhile Coimbatore district until its split in 1979.

Bannari Amman temple is one of the Amman temples in Tamil Nadu, India. It is located in Bannari on NH 209, near Sathyamangalam, Erode district. The main deity at the temple is goddess Mariamman, an avatar of goddess Parvathi. The goddess is considered powerful in the Tamil and Kannada folklore, and roughly every village in the Kongu region of Tamil Nadu has a Mariamman temple.
