Join us for our Santiago Travel Guide as we cover the top 20 things to do in Santiago de Chile. Our trip to Chile wouldn't have been complete without a visit to the capital, so towards the end of our stay we decided to visit Santiago. We had 4 days to discover what the city was all about, so we set out to visit the main attractions, sample Chilean food (Comida Chilena), and explore various neighborhoods on foot. 20 Things to do in Santiago, Chile City Guide | Top Attractions Travel Guide Travel Video Transcript:
Santa Lucia is an urban park smack dab in the middle of Santiago and it’s a popular hangout in the afternoons and weekends. The hike is a pleasant one with lots to see, including fountains, spiralling staircases, defensive forts, sprawling gardens, and cool lookout points.
Lastarria is a neighbourhood located just east of Santa Lucia hill and it was once the bohemian hub of the city.Today it is very popular with tourists as it offers an outdoors flea market, an international mix of cafes and restaurants, & live music.
For panoramic views of the city, ride the funicular to the top of San Cristobal Hill.
Plaza de Armas is the heart of Santiago’s historic centre. There are lots of benches under the cover of palm trees, and the place is buzzing with activity. The Metropolitan Cathedral is located in the historic centre of Santiago overlooking the square. The construction you see today dates back to the year 1800, since previous cathedrals were destroyed in earthquakes.
Santiago’s Central Market is the place to come for the freshest food. You'll find rows of restaurants serving up everything from grilled fish to ceviche. We really like our ceviche, so we found a place serving exactly that.
Parque Forestal is a park that forms a long stretch of greenery along the Mapocho River. It’s a nice green escape in the middle of the city.
Palacio de la Moneda is the seat of the President of the Republic of Chile. This is where you can come to watch the changing of the guard. Just underneath Palacio de La Moneda, you’ll find Centro Cultural Palacio La Moneda, which is a cultural centre featuring exhibitions, design shops, and a small selection of cafes.
Bellavista is a cultural hub with lots of theatres, cinemas, cafes, museums, and restaurants. The most famed home in the neighbourhood is La Chascona, the home of the famed Chilean poet Pablo Neruda.

The Patagonian Expedition is a 95% self funded video documentary project following my trip in 2012/2013. Our aim is to show you the beauty of the rather unknown parts in Patagonia alongside with the famous spots.
Beside beautiful landscape you can expect loads of information and our personal experiences and struggles along the way.

Santa Lucía es una localidad del partido de San Pedro, provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Se encuentra a 37 km de la ciudad de San Pedro por la Ruta Provincial 191 y a 40 km de Arrecifes por la misma ruta.
El nombre de Santa Lucía se debe a Lucía Harrington, esposa de Juan Harrington, inmigrante irlandés propietario de una estancia, quien donó sus tierras para la construcción del pueblo.

Welcome to Santiago De Chile. This video provides information about all the top things to see in Santiago and its neighboring city of Valparaiso in just 3 days. Santiago is not a big city so a 3 day itinerary is good enough to see most things in the city. Add a day or two to visit wineries and take a side trip to the canyons. Stick around till the end and hopefully the video will help you plan your trip to Santiago De Chile.
???? Getting around in Santiago
I used the metro system in Santiago extensively. The metro provides access to all the places you will see in this video. This is the fastest and the most hassle free way to travel within Santiago.
???? Valparaiso Day Trip
Head over to Pajaritos metro station in Santiago (on the red line) and take one of the several buses that ply frequently between the 2 cities. Buses are comfortable, clean and even have toilets on board. The entire journey is about 90-120 minutes depending on the traffic. I use TurBus. Tickets can be purchased online or directly at the Turbus ticket window at Pajaritos

Personal favorite was the street food at Plaza De Armas or one of the several restaurants lining the plaza. If you like sea food then head over to Mercado Central or the Central Market.
Barrio Italia (Italian neighborhood) has tons of places serving cuisines from all over the world.

Cerro Santa Lucia historical landmark of Chile
Santa Lucía Hill (Spanish: Cerro Santa Lucía) is a small hill in the centre of Santiago, Chile. It is situated between Alameda del Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins in the south, Santa Lucía Street in the west and Victoria Subercaseaux on the east. An adjacent metro station is named after it. The hill has an altitude of 629 m and a height of 69 m over the surrounding area. The hill is the remnant of a volcano 15 million years old.

Poseía unas 2.000 hectáreas en el actual partido de San Pedro, entre Perez Millan y Santa Lucía. Dentro de esas tierras Velaz construyó un almacén y una escuela para la comodidad de sus muchos empleados, la mayoría inmigrantes de origen europeo. También dio facilidades para que algunos de ellos compraran pequeños lotes y pudieran construir sus viviendas.
Hacia 1933 las vías del Ferrocarril Central Córdoba pasaban por la Colonia pero no había una estación. En ese año se construye la estación Colonia Velaz y el poblado vive su etapa de mayor esplendor. Había almacén, peluquería, estación, club, salón de eventos, herrería, escuela, fábrica de quesos, destacamento policial y mucho movimiento agrícola y ganadero.
