I’d say not authentic Bolivia. However, we liked this other type of Bolivia with its exceptional flora and fauna.

HOW TO GET TO SANTA CRUZ DE LA SIERRA, BOLIVIA?
Viru Viru International Airport in Santa Cruz is Bolivia's largest international airport. You can fly there from Bolivia and other South American countries, as well as North America and Europe.
The airport is located 16 km from the city centre. The most affordable and easiest way to reach the centre is by airport bus 135. If you prefer comfort, just call Uber.

Cosmopolitano Hotel Boutique has a great location in the centre. The boutique hotel was super stylish, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was chic with minimal decoration and transparent glass walls of the shower.

Santa Cruz de la Sierra es la ciudad y municipio más poblado de Bolivia, capital del Departamento de Santa Cruz. Está situada en la parte oriental del país, sobre la llanura tropical, a orillas del río Piraí.

En el siglo XVII, la zona se convierte en centro de expediciones misioneras evangelizadoras. El 24 de septiembre de 1810 se da su primer grito libertario contra el dominio español. A inicios de siglo XX, en el sur, se desata la guerra por el territorio del Chaco. Desde los años 1950, debido a la integración física con el resto del país, la ciudad experimenta un fuerte crecimiento demográfico. Actualmente está considerada como centro económico de Bolivia, destacando la industria agropecuaria, forestal, minera y de hidrocarburos.

We began our trip in Bolivia in the economic and international hub of Santa Cruz before visiting the world famous salt flats, Salar de Uyuni. After an incredible time there, we made our way to La Paz, the world's highest capital at almost 4000 meters. From there, we ventured into the mountains to the world's former most dangerous road, Death Road of Bolivia. Come along for the rest of the journey!

Santa Cruz de la Sierra es una ciudad localizada en los llanos orientales de Bolivia, a orillas del río Piraí. Actualmente es la ciudad más poblada del país con un total aproximado de 1,9 millones de habitantes en 2021.2 Es capital del Departamento de Santa Cruz, el departamento con mayor Producto Regional Bruto de Bolivia,4 y una de las ciudades más desarrolladas del país, con un indicador municipal de desarrollo sostenible elevado, de 64,1.5
La ciudad forma parte del municipio homónimo y es el epicentro de la área metropolitana de Santa Cruz de la Sierra, que es actualmente el núcleo urbano más poblado de Bolivia, con una población estimada de más de 5 millones de habitantes en el 2021.2 Esta área metropolitana está formada por una conurbación de siete municipios en el departamento: Santa Cruz de la Sierra, La Guardia, Warnes, Cotoca, El Torno, Porongo y Montero.1
Fundada el 26 de febrero de 1561 por el capitán español Ñuflo de Chaves, la ciudad sufrió varios cambios de ubicación.6 En el siglo xvii, la zona se convirtió en centro de expediciones misioneras evangelizadoras.7 El 24 de septiembre de 1810 se dio su primer grito libertario contra el dominio español.8 A inicios del siglo xx, en el sur, se desató la guerra por el territorio del Chaco.9 Desde la década de 1950, debido a la integración física con el resto del país, la ciudad experimentó un fuerte crecimiento demográfico.10 Actualmente Santa Cruz de la Sierra es una urbe dinámica, cosmopolita y es considerada motor económico e industrial de Bolivia pues su área metropolitana concentra importante cantidad de industrias, agropecuarias, forestales, mineras e
