While Peninsular Malaysia is celebrated for its bustling cities, melting pot of culture, tasty food, and beautiful architecture, Borneo is home to an abundance of flora and fauna, numerous ethnic tribes, and dense jungles. SABAH Borneo Malaysia - Top 10 Reasons why I LOVE this Paradise - Kota Kinabalu - True Beauty

Wonderful SABAH - This is what I call one of my favorite places in the entire world! I have been here more than 12x! This is a true paradise that yet receives not as much attention as Palawan, Bali or Thailand. The island of Borneo is one of the largest and most beautiful ones in the entire world. It hosts plenty of natural treasures. Although being quite small, Sabah is blessed with incomparable beauty: Mountains, rainforests, beaches, culture, traditions, people etc. And this is the reason why you should travel there. Once having been to Sabah, you definitely are craving to go back at least once more in the future!

MALAYSIAN BORNEO FIRST IMPRESSIONS! (we couldn't believe this place!!!) ????: Kota Kinabalu, Sabah ????????

We didn't know what to expect from Malaysian Borneo, but for sure we didn't know it would be like this! Kota Kinabalu was a surprise. It's hard to explain this place, but you'll see exactly what we mean after watching the video.

We hope you enjoy this Kota Kinabalu, Sabah video :) And this is just the beginning of our adventures in Malaysian Borneo! We can't wait to share more with you!

★ MORE INFO ABOUT THE FOUR-ISLAND TOUR:

1. What we did: we went to the Sutera Marina and basically talked to the only operator in the marina. They have all the tours and prices displayed, and even though it was slightly more expensive than other options, it was pretty painless and we had a great experience! We recommend this option :)

2. Another option (this was plan B for us): Go to Jesselton Point Jetty and try to negotiate a price. It will be cheaper than what we paid ($15 p/p), but there will be A LOT of different operators to choose from. This info was shared to us by a local and also from the guy at the beginning of the video.

In the end, we decided it was ok to pay a higher price because we were already there and it was the right choice for us :) but there are other options.

Anyways, if you have questions, let us know. We're always happy to help. Thank you so much for watching our videos. We will see you in the next video from Kundasang ????????

The ultimate itinerary to Sabah, Borneo (Sandakan,, Kinabatangan River, and Tabin) (EP 0 :Sabah)

Welcome to the Land Below the Wind, Sabah!
This video is produced based on our nine-day trip to the east coast of Sabah, visiting Sandakan, Lower Kinabatangan River, and Tabin.
This is where Orangutans swing branch to branch, where the Sulu Sea and the South China Sea meet, pygmy elephants roam in herds, and where a land of myriad people celebrate their cultural heritage.
During our trip, we saw more animals and birds than we wanted - pygmy elephant, proboscis monkey, sun bear, and orangutan. We also tried the unique Sandakan food and had the freshest seafood.

Sandakan (Malaysian pronunciation: [ˈsaan daˈkan], Jawi: سنداکن‎, Chinese: 山打根; pinyin: Shāndǎgēn; Jyutping: saan1 daa2 gan1) formerly known at various times as Elopura, is the capital of the Sandakan District in Sabah, Malaysia. It is the second largest city in Sabah after Kota Kinabalu. It is located on the Sandakan Peninsula and east coast of the state in the administrative centre of Sandakan Division and was the former capital of British North Borneo. In 2010, the city had an estimated population of 157,330 while the surrounding municipal area had a total population of 396,290. The population of the municipal area had increased to 510,600 by 2020.

The Berhala Island (Malay: Pulau Berhala) is a small forested island situated in Sandakan Bay in Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia. The island is approximately 5 hectares in size and has prominent cliffs at its northern end. Many birds of prey can be seen on and around Berhala, including brahminy kites, serpent eagles and sea eagles. The island has a lighthouse at its highest point.

Situated 23 kilometres from Sandakan Town and not too far from the Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre, the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) main highlights are its 363m long canopy walkway, exhibition halls, the Plant Discovery Garden, the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, environmental education programmes and a small lake with a suspension bridge.

The RDC also gives visitors a chance to get intimate with nature through its Nature Experience programme which includes a guided walk to the Plant Discovery Garden, Rainforest Walk and indoor/outdoor activities. The night walk is also highly recommended to appreciate most of the rainforest scene. Most visitors would enjoy the anticipation to watch the Red Giant flying squirrel coming out around dusk time.

The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre is a wildlife conservation and research centre for improving animal welfare and rehabilitation of the Malayan sun bear (Helarctos malayanus). It also aims to raise public awareness about the plight of the sun bears and to raise conservation awareness about this species. The BSBCC was established as a non-profit organisation in Sabah in 2008. It is a joint project between sun bear researcher Wong Siew Te, Land Empowerment Animals People (LEAP), the Sabah Wildlife Department (SWD) and the Sabah Forestry Department (SFD).

Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is located about 25 kilometres west of Sandakan in the state of Sabah, Malaysia. The centre opened in 1964 as the first official orangutan rehabilitation project for rescued orphaned baby orangutans from logging sites, plantations, illegal hunting or kept as pets.[1] The orphaned orangutans are trained to survive again in the wild and are released as soon as they are ready. The sanctuary is located within the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve which covers an area of 4,294 ha (10,610 acres), much of which is virgin rainforest.[2] Today around 60 to 80 orangutans are living free in the reserve.[3]
