San José, Costa Rica - Welcome to San José, the capital and biggest city in Costa Rica, and one of the best places to eat Costa Rican food. Today we’re going on an ultimate Costa Rica street food tour, from the market to local restaurants and everything in between. Let’s go eat!

Mercado Central de San José (San José Central Market) - We’re beginning this tour at the central market in San Jose, the best place to take in the sights, sounds and ingredients of Costa Rica. Soda Tala, San José Central Market ( is without a doubt one of the city’s best stalls, known for their Gallo Pinto (Rice and beans) - the national dish of Costa Rica. We also tried Marisquería Brigitte for their Cadosas (Ceviche with Picaritas chips), which is something else you don’t want to miss. Finally, La Sorbetera de Lolo Mora is a perfect sweet finish to any market tour in San Jose.
Super Cholo Gigante at Super Cholo Gigante, San José Meat Market - After walking around the market, we then headed to the Meat Market and in the back there’s a restaurant that specializes in bocas, or small places of food. Here you can get all the classic Costa Rican foods, authentic and cooked to perfection.
Empanadas at La Empanadota - You can’t come to Costa Rica without trying an empanada and everyone seems to have their favorite. When they are deep fried hot and fresh and drizzled in five sticky sauces, they are hard to resist.
Next up with tried Costa Rican Coffee at Café La Mancha ( and it was the perfect afternoon boost.
And finally we tried some unique Ice cream at the famous Corazón Contento Pastelería, San José, Costa Rica (

Our First Time in Costa Rica! (Arriving in La Fortuna Vlog - Travel & First Impressions)
We're cutting our Mexico trip short and heading to Costa Rica!
We're leaving from Cancun to catch a flight to San Jose, Costa Rica! We take a quick moment to explain the current entry restrictions for Costa Rica and then head out to the airport to catch our flight.
Then we arrive at the San Jose airport and decide to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Alajuela for a night before picking up our rental car. We quickly explain the the Costa Rica car rental insurance scam before heading towards La Fortuna, where the Arenal volcano and region is located!
After arriving we explore the La Fortuna town center, try our first Costa Rican plate dish, head to the grocery market, and finally explore the Arenal Sanctuary reserve and spot some cool wildlife!

We were finally hit with a great day after so much rain and took full advantage when we found an amazing chocolate tour in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is known for having some of the best chocolate in the entire world and upon our research, we found that the Caribbean side of Costa Rica is home to the country's best cocoa beans and chocolate tours and arguably the best in all of Central America. ????????
In this video, we take you on one of those amazing tours filled with beautiful wildlife, delicious chocolate, and thorough insight into the process of making chocolate from the cocoa beans to the bar.
After the tour, we go to one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Costa Rica, Punta Uva. A hot spot for surfing, family lunch BBQs, beautiful sand beaches, and more, Punta Uva is a must-see when in the Puerto Viejo area!????
To wrap up the afternoon, we head to one of the local waterfalls in the area, one of the many that Costa Rica is so well known for.

A sunny day, very few people, empty streets, police everywhere, Covid-19, Parks are closed, an impression of a city with the economy on his knees. This is not SJO like on a typical thursday morning from a few month back.
