It's possible to buy more land, if you need at a supplementary price. The only buildings nearby are a small pottery of the neighbour and a barn for hay for their horses.

Kaolin, the clay crucial to the production of Limoges porcelain
Kaolin, the clay crucial to the production of porcelain, is how the town of Saint-Yrieix made its wealth. Learn about this white gold, from its discovery and extraction to its use in the local area, especially in the Marcognac quarries, which are now classed as Monuments Historiques.
The city of Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche prospered in the 18th and 19th centuries thanks to a raw material found in the ground: kaolin, which is essential for the production of genuine porcelain. The clay, which has been used for more than 2,000 years in China and since the start of the 18th century in Germany, was discovered for the first time in France in 1768 by the surgeon Jean-Baptiste Darnet, in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche.
Kaolin’s properties mean that porcelain can be fired at over 1,200°C, allowing for optimal hardness without affecting its white colour. In light of kaolin’s exceptional advantages, King Louis XV bought the first vein to fuel the royal manufacturer in Sèvres. In Limoges, the first porcelain factory opened in 1771, soon followed by many others, in both Limoges and Saint-Yrieix. The exploitation of kaolin marked the beginning of the porcelain industry in Limoges and created an unprecedented economic and social dynamic in this rural area.
A craze developed and led to dozens of quarries opening near Saint-Yrieix. The most productive was the quarry in Marcognac, located around 5 km from the city centre. Today, the site is protected and classified as a Historic Monument. It is accessible to visitors.
During its 200 years of existence, from 1786 to 1986, the Marcognac quarry produced several thousand tons of kaolin. After being extracted with a pickaxe, the kaolin was sorted, cleaned and dried before being taken to the mills, where it was crushed. Working conditions were tough and the dust caused serious illnesses, such as tuberculosis and silicosis.
Today, the Seynie, founded in 1774 in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche, is the oldest porcelain factory in Limoges still in business. It manufactures both traditional and contemporary works.

La Wantzenau (German: Wanzenau) is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. The town is located 12 km northeast of Strasbourg. It is the last village along the Ill river before it joins the Rhine a few kilometres downstream. The village limits touch the border with Germany, although the closest bridge across the Rhine is in Gambsheim, 10 km north of the village. It is one of the villages of greater Strasbourg (Strasbourg Eurométropole). The village centre and the recently developed area, Le Golf, are on the north side of the river Ill with the neighbourhood of Le Woerthel on the south side.
The terrain around the village is very flat and marshy. In fact the ending au in the name denotes in Alsatian a town which is subject to seasonal flooding. The town was probably founded in the 8th century as a fishing outpost of Honau, a nearby monastery founded by Irish monks on an island in the Rhine river. The name does not appear in any records until 1331 as Wanzenowe. It was granted status as a parish by the bishop-prince of Strasbourg in 1468. During the Thirty Years' War, in the early 17th century, the town was completely wiped out by Swedish troops. It was also badly damaged during both World Wars. There are many signs of the town's experience with war. Rue Albert Zimmer is named for a soldier who became a local hero fighting with General Leclerc in World War II, only to be killed in fighting near Strasbourg in 1944. The town is dotted with bunkers and blockhouses from the Maginot Line, especially in the La Wantzenau forest. There is also a German-made bunker visible in the house on the corner of the rue Leh and the rue du Moulin.
Today, the town has preserved many 18th century half-timbered Alsatian-style houses. The town has graded a promenade along the Ill river. It is connected to a network of bicycle lanes including the Piste des Forts which circles greater Strasbourg, and a path through the La Wantzenau forest through La Robertsau and into downtown Strasbourg. La Wantzenau is well known in the region for the high number of fine restaurants including Le Relais de la Poste, Les Semailles and Le Moulin de la Wantzenau, the last vestiges of a now closed cooking school in the town. The town is twinned with Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in Haute-Vienne because the population of La Wantzenau was evacuated there at the start of the war with Germany in 1939.
La Wantzenau is a bedroom community of Strasbourg. It combines the advantages of village life with individual houses while still being part of the CUS with train and bus transportation to the centre of Strasbourg. 73% of the working population works outside of the village.
The centre of the town has several commercial establishments including a grocery store, two bakeries and two tobacconists. There are also several public buildings including a post office, the town hall, the Foyer Culturel, the Jean-Claude Klein sports complex, a football stadium, two pre-schools, a primary school, and a junior highschool.

Limoges porcelain manufacturing and contemporary porcelain
This film unveils the secrets of how Limoges porcelain is manufactured. Jean-Paul Tarrade, the director of LS Art et Création, invites us on an unprecedented tour of the oldest Saint-Yrieix production site still in operation.
A true bridge between the past and the present, the Limoges porcelain factory, La Seynie, founded in 1774 in Yrieix-la-Perche, is still in business today and operates under the name LS Art et Création. In light of global competition and ever-changing consumption patterns, in recent years its production, initially intended for tableware, has shifted to contemporary design. The brand makes its know-how available to artists, who create original porcelain creations. It also supplies products imagined by designers to Michelin-starred chefs at high-end venues.
Its director, Jean-Paul Tarrade, explains the different steps involved in creating a porcelain object.

The steps involved in producing a porcelain object are as follows:
1. Modelling (part shown by the film in the workshop)
First, the body of the porcelain is modelled. Modelling is a technique that requires passion, experience and, of course, technical skills. The model can be made based on a sketch, inspired by a new design, or can reflect the moulding of an existing porcelain product.
2. Moulding
The second step is making the production mould.
3. Casting
The third step is casting in the production mould in order to reproduce the shape that was modelled. When I say casting, I mean pouring what is known in the porcelain world as a slurry, kaolin combined with feldspar and quartz, mixed with water, into the mould. In short, it’s a liquid paste.
When the crust inside the mould has been formed, the excess liquid is drained from the mould. Once a sufficient amount of time has passed, you can proceed to demoulding.
4. Demoulding
Demoulding involves removing the piece and letting it dry.
5. Finishing
The sixth step is finishing. What does finishing involve? It means removing any traces left by the mould on the casted shape.
6. First firing
After the finish comes the first firing. The temperature should be around 900 degrees, which will give the fired item a solid consistency.
Then there are two options. The first option is to keep it unglazed for the final firing, which will be at around 1,352 degrees. Fired but unglazed pottery is called “biscuit” porcelain. The second option is to glaze the item, which means there will be another operation to perform.
7. Glazing
This process involves dipping the item in the glazing tray.
8. Second firing
Next, you place it inside the baking furnace, where a phenomenon called refraction takes place: the item you put in will come out 14% smaller, in a completely uniform way.
9. Choosing
Afterwards, the item must once again be inspected. This is because firing the clay at high temperatures often leads to imperfections, which requires sorting. The step is important because you must determine the choices that will be offered to end customers. At this point, the product can either be sold in white, directly glazed or unglazed, the latter being the so-called “biscuit” version, or you proceed to the decorating stage.
10. Decorating
During the last step, and of course depending on the items to be made, the decorating technique must be carefully considered. This is important because depending on the pigments used, the item may need to be fired two, three or even four times. As you can see, there are many operations to perform before obtaining the finished product.

Dit is een schitterend water van maar liefst 500 jaar oud! Wat vroeger deel uit maakte van een oude rivier. Het water heeft verschillende eilanden wat het qua bodemverloop erg interessant maakt om te gaan vissen. Etang Baudy bevind u zich aan de rand van het dorpje Saint Yrieix la Perche, ondanks ervaart u rust en natuur. De bijkomstigheid hiervan is dat de barretjes, restaurants en winkels nabij gelegen zijn.

La chapelle Sainte Croix d'Angles-sur-l'Anglin
Cette chapelle est un vestige de l’église de l’ancienne abbaye Sainte Croix, qui occupait une grande partie de ce quartier. Regardez à quoi ressemblait cette abbaye grâce aux restitutions en images de synthèse de cette vidéo.
Cette chapelle, en contrebas du château, sur la rive gauche de l’Anglin, est un vestige de l’ancienne église de l’abbaye Sainte Croix d’Angles. Nous découvrons sur ces images cet ensemble monastique tel qu’il pouvait se présenter au 15ème siècle.
L’abbaye a été fondée en 1040 par l’évêque de Poitiers Isembert, seigneur d’Angles. Hugues VI de Lusignan y a installé en 1088 des moines bénédictins de l’abbaye Saint-Cyprien de Poitiers, mais le pape Urbain II a confié l’abbaye à des chanoines réguliers de l’ordre de Saint-Augustin.
L’église abbatiale a été construite à partir de 1175 et consacrée en 1192. Elle mesurait initialement 60 mètres de long. Sa nef voûtée d’ogives était prolongée par un transept et un chœur avec une abside et deux absidioles. Les bâtiments conventuels, où logeaient les moines, s’organisaient de part et d’autre d’une cour carrée, entre l’église et l’Anglin.
Prospère à ses débuts, l’abbaye décline à partir du 15e siècle. Elle est endommagée lors des guerres de religion au 16e. Les logements des moines sont vendus comme biens nationaux à la Révolution et deviennent des maisons individuelles. L’église tombe peu à peu en ruine, le clocher et le chœur s’effondrent.
Vers 1840, la commune construit un pont sur l’Anglin et trace une nouvelle route qui traverse la cour de l’abbaye et l’emplacement du chœur de l’église détruit. Seule la première travée de la nef est conservée pour servir de chapelle et assurer les offices pour les paroissiens de la rive gauche de l’Anglin.
On distingue encore, de l’autre côté de la route, le mur pignon du transept nord, conservé comme mur mitoyen entre deux maisons.
La façade de l’église a conservé son beau portail gothique en arc brisé, encadré de deux arcades aveugles. Malgré son tympan maladroitement restauré au 17e siècle, elle a été classée Monument Historique en 1926.
