How Brie De Meaux Cheese Is Made In France | Regional Eats

Insider's Claudia Romeo traveled to Seine-et-Marne, France to visit Ferme des 30 Arpents. The farm is one of seven farms making raw-milk Brie de Meaux cheese, and the only one that makes it fermier, which means that the cheese is made by hand solely with milk produced by the 250 cows at the farm. Every day, Ferme des 30 Arpents will make about 300 wheels of Brie de Meaux from its herd's milk.

Editor's note: This footage was filmed on February 14, 2020. At present, Ferme des 30 Arpents has implemented preventive measures to ensure everyone's safety and has adopted the health regulations in force for its production of farmhouse cheeses.

How Italian Gorgonzola Cheese Is Made | Regional Eats | Food Insider

The Gorgonzola industry is worth over $800 million. Almost 5 million wheels are produced each year and production is confined to the Italian regions of Piedmont and Lombardy. There are only 29 dairies in the world certified to produce this cheese. We visited Caseificio Si Invernizzi in Trecate, Piedmont, Italy, where between 450 and 500 Gorgonzola wheels are made every day.

How Traditional French Camembert Is Made | Regional Eats

Sweet and creamy, Camembert holds a special place in the heart of cheese lovers. The iconic cheese originated in the northern French region of Normandy, where it has been made for centuries. Today, France makes 360 million wheels of Camembert each year. We visited Le 5 Frères, a family-run farm in the village of Bermonville that makes Camembert following the traditional recipe using raw milk and ladles it into molds by hand.

We Tried London's Moldiest Cheese

Jumi Cheese sells the Blue Brain cheese in London's Borough Market. The cheese gets its moldy exterior by maturing in a humid cave. While the exterior scares some at first, after some explaining, many enjoy the flavor and compare it to blue cheese.

Highlights of Lyon France | An Amazing French City

On our last leg of our France Journey, we spent a few days in Lyon. Even though this trip was really last minute, we have been talking about going to Lyon for years now. We've heard so many great things about it.....the food, the culture, the people, and the city itself. Hope you enjoy this video and definitely plan a stop there if you are traveling to France. This video concludes our France Series but we have some big trips planned for the rest of 2022.

About Us:
We have been married since 2009 and reside near Pittsburgh, PA. Even before we were married, we loved planning trips and traveling to cool destinations. It has now become our passion and we love diving into new foreign cultures, food, and attractions. We started making home DVDs for our own keepsake many years ago. It was a great way to preserve memories and re-live those memories whenever we wanted. We eventually found that uploaded these videos to YouTube made a lot of sense. We could share them with family and friends across the country in real time, on smart TVs, Ipads, and smart phones. That eventually led to us creating the “Matt n Rach” YouTube Channel. Our focus now is not only to preserve our memories, but to include educational and useful information for our viewers as well.

We hope you enjoy our content and please leave a comment if you liked our video or have some something you’d like to share. We love hearing from our viewers!!

Vence, Provence, France, complete tour

travel videos & photos at: with text, maps & links.
We're going to take you on a walking tour through the medieval town of Vence in the South of France. This small picturesque village with its pedestrian zone makes a very worthwhile day-trip. It's an easy, one-hour bus ride from Nice to get up to Vence. You cannot get lost when you're inside the old town of Vence because it's so small but you might get a little confused by these twisting footpaths. Just keep in mind there is one primary route and several plazas, but the village is only 300 meters wide, so just feel free to wander. Walk along the main lane and deviate down the little side alleys, come on back to the main lane and walk in both directions, it's interesting whether you are coming or going. Vence is one of those rare medieval towns in France that still has its wall all the way around it.
As usual in a small Provencal village, the main attractions are the pedestrian lanes lined with historic old buildings harboring shops, cafes and restaurants. Little plazas and fountains liven up this space, and the central church, Provence’s smallest cathedral, is a medieval delight.
When you exit the old town through the stone gateway and then turn and looked back, you find that the wall has been converted into homes. This circle of housing reinforces the wall that goes all the way around the old town.

2 Days In Lyon, France: The Top 5 Dishes You Have To Try

Welcome to Lyon, the gastronomical center of France and home to numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites. While tourists may overlook the city, it's a charming place where the true French spirit is untouched. In this video, we'll be exploring the best Lyonnaise food to try during your visit. From traditional cheeses to classic dishes, let's dive into the delicious world of Lyon's cuisine.

Number one: French Cheese
All the best cheeses from all over France can be found in Lyon's traditional Bouchons, small restaurants where traditional dishes are prepared with ancient recipes and local products. Some of the must-try cheeses include Camembert, a creamy cheese with a soft inside and full-bodied and salty crust, Saint Marcellin, a little, creamy cheese from Isère situated southeast of Lyon, and Emmenthal, a cheese produced in France's northern regions with a smooth and sweet scent and taste.

Number two: Salade Lyonnaise
In Lyon, salads are not always light and dietary. The classic salade Lyonnaise is a green salad made with frisée and dandelion leaves, topped with lardons, croutons, a poached egg, and mustard dressing. Perfect as a quick and nutritious lunch option.

Number three: Quenelle
A quenelle is a giant dumpling typically prepared with flour, water, milk, butter, and eggs. The lyonnaise version adds fish, usually pike, to the filling, creating a light mousse-like texture. The dumpling is then topped with a sauce, usually the standard option of sauce Nantua, a béchamel-crayfish butter combo. Make sure to try it at a reputable restaurant where it's made fresh and requires a wait of 15 to 20 minutes.

Number four: Poulette de Bresse
These elegant French chickens, originating from just north of Lyon, are considered the most expensive. Poulets de Bresse must come from farms in the small Bresse area, located northeast of Lyon. These large, fluffy white birds are protected by regional status and live completely free-range. They are traditionally braised with french herbs, carrots, and onions and served with a morel mushroom cream sauce.

Number five: Tarte au Praline
To end your meal on a sweet note, try the traditional Tarte à la Praline, a vibrant rose-colored dessert with a shortcrust pastry filled with crushed almonds, eggs, and cream, topped with red or pink sugar. Perfect for a relaxing afternoon or after a rich Bouchon meal.

Places to see in ( Lyon - France ) Fourviere Hill

Places to see in ( Lyon - France ) Fourviere Hill

Fourviere Hill is perhaps Lyon's most well known destination, a perfect combination of culture, adventure, and a bit of history thrown in for good measure. Take one of the two still operating funicular lines to the top, or better yet, challenge yourself to a scenic hike up the hill's (relatively) steep paths. Once there, you'll be treated to not only the best view in the city, but also to a series of historic city landmarks that provide plenty of structural variety in a relatively small area. Check out the enormous Romanesque/Byzantine architecture of Lyon's Basilica Notre Dame de Fourviere, the 86 meter tall Tour Metallique (which bears an uncanny resemblance to a much more popular tower in Paris), or the ancient Roman Amphitheater that, believe it or not, still hosts annual cultural events. Once you've had your share of sight seeing, treat yourself to a beer at one of the town's quaint pubs or restaurants and bask in the satisfaction of a day well spent.

Fourvière is a district of Lyon, France and also a hill immediately west of the old part of the town, rising abruptly from the river Saône and then gently sloping down to the north-west. It is the site of the original Roman settlement of Lugdunum (43 BC). Though it supports the world's two oldest and active funicular lines, it is primarily known for the Catholic Basilica of Fourvière. The inauguration of the golden statue of the Virgin Mary on the north-west tower is the origin of the famous 8 December Festival of Lights, when the citizens of Lyon display candles (lumignons) at their windows. This festival now attracts hundreds of thousands of people into the streets of Lyon every year. Fourvière contains many other religious buildings including convents, monasteries and chapels. It is known in Lyon as the hill that prays. It is now part of a UNESCO World Heritage site designated for the city of Lyon in 1998.

Also on the Fourvière hill is La Tour Métallique which was privately built by the owners of the land to rival the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It forms the highest point in Lyon and is in fact higher than the Eiffel Tower at its summit, due to it being on a hill. It is now a television relay tower. On the south side of Fourvière are the vast ruins of Roman Baths, partially intact ruins of a Roman Theatre (15 BC) and a 2nd Century Roman Odéon rediscovered in the 20th century and now home to a museum as well as a series of concerts and operas throughout the summer.

A double motorway tunnel passes under Fourvière, connecting the A6 autoroute (coming from Paris) and the A7 autoroute (coming from Marseille), both forming the Autoroute du Soleil. Prior to the construction of the bypass of Lyon by the east, and with Lyon being virtually the only low passage between the Alps and the Massif Central (extinct) volcano range, the tunnel was famous for its traffic jams caused by a combination of local traffic, that of neighboring countries, as well as traffic between northern and southern France. The hill is very fragile in places due to springs, underground streams, ancient tunnels and aqueducts, which have caused several subsidences in the past.

( Lyon - France ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Lyon . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Lyon - France

Route des Grandes Alpes, Driving in France. From Thonon-les-Bains in the Haute-Savoie to Nice in the Alpes-Maritimes, the Alps road is a circuit not to be missed during any stay in the mountains, for both the beauty of its landscapes and the picturesque villages and places of interest it passes through. Crossing impressive passes, some of which are at altitudes of over 2,000 metres, the Great Alps Road (Route des Grandes Alpes) offers stunning panoramic views of the alpine landscape.
The 720 km between Thonon-les-Bains and Nice include 18 passes that are among the highest in the Alps. It’s an exceptional natural and cultural environment.

Route des Grandes Alpes is open between June (after the snow has melted) and October. The winding road crosses spectacular mountain landscapes, and in the valleys you’ll find local cultural features and gastronomic specialities.

In spring, you can appreciate the diversity of the landscapes, particularly in the national and regional parks. Between Haute-Savoie and Alpes-Maritimes there are the Chablais, Vanoise, Queyras, Ubaye and Mercantour ranges. You’ll also take in Mont Blanc and Les Ecrins, the emblems of the French Alps.
