Philippines STRANGEST food! ETAG in Sagada | Travel Philippines Vlog

I'm a huge fan of Filipino food. Street food in the Philippines is some of my favourite because a lot of it is so different interesting, and tasty.
As a foreigner in the Philippines...Why go to a Filipino restaurant when you can get delicious Pinoy street food, and be eating Balut, Isaw, and other strange foods? Manila especially is great for this!

Just a few days before getting my Kalinga Tattoo from Whang Od in Buscalan we visited an Igorot village elder to get his permission to visit his ancestors at a hanging coffin site in Sagada. He was smoking a very important type of Igorot food called Etag. Etag is used in ceremonies in this part of the Philippines, I was interested in trying it because the traditional way of preserving it, invited maggots, beatles and all other sorts of insects into the process.

I'm so happy I was able to spend such quality time with Lakay Wa-Ow, try on his ceremonial necklace, and also buy his Etag.

I'm excited to share the second part at Amir's Birthday Party. Stay tuned!

Inspired by the Best ever food review show and their various interesting Filipino travel vlogs about foods like Catching and eating Wild Tamilok in Palawan.... Is this Philippines Strangest or Scariest Food?

Where are my Filipino and Filipina subscribers at!? Would you try this?

Off The Beaten Path GOES WRONG in Bohol, Philippines ????????

I rented a motorbike so I could explore the Bohol island easily and in peace, without being stuck with a guide and driver.

There were many bike rental shops near my hotel, so I chose the one that had the best reviews on Google Maps. It cost 400 pesos ($7.20 USD) per day, while other shops were renting for 300 pesos per day, but their bikes were fairly new and in perfect condition, so it was worth paying the premium price.

For my first day of exploring I stayed in Panglao, which is the small island that's attached to the big Bohol island by a bridge.

Feeling hungry, I drove to Fortridge Food Park, which was highly rated on Google Maps, but when I got there it was dead. I think I was the only customer there and most restaurants were closed. So it seems like it's an evening place. Don't waste your time, like me, going there in the afternoon.

I ordered a fresh pineapple shake at Fortridge and then a huge thunderstorm started. So I took shelter there until it was dry, and continued my adventure.

I drove across Panglao to the Hinagdanan Cave, which is a popular tourist site in Bohol. It was way too busy though, with a queue of people waiting to get inside.

It was mostly local Filipino tourists who were visiting the cave. Bohol is a popular domestic tourist location, especially at the weekends. Filipinos living in Cebu can easily take a ferry across to Bohol for the weekend.

It was Sunday, and so I decided I'd leave and come back to the cave on a weekday.

It seemed like it was going to be a completely wasted day. With only a couple of hours of daylight left I tried to find something else interesting to visit in Panglao. I found there was seashell museum not too far away, and I could make it there just before they closed for the day.

The Nova Shell Museum in the Poblacion area of Panglao is one of the world's biggest sea shell collections in the world. I was lucky enough to go there when there were less visitors, so I got a private tour of the collection from one of the knowledgeable guides there.

The next day started off rainy and I waited for a dry spell, so I could drive to Chocolate Hills on the main Bohol island.

I have access to the executive lounge at the Henann Alona Beach hotel where I'm staying, I so relaxed in there with some free snacks and drinks for a while.

Eventually the rain stopped and I started the 2 hour road trip to Bohol's Chocolate Hills. But on the way I stopped to visit the tarsiers.

Tarsiers are little monkeys and there's a big conservation area of them on the way to Chocolate Hills. They are nocturnal so they aren't moving around during the daytime but you can see them relaxing in the trees.

The other tourists I met at the the Bohol Tarsier Conservation Area were all heading to the Chocolate Hills viewpoint but I had a better idea. Rather than visit the tourist viewpoint, I found a place on Google Maps that said Chocolate Hill free view point.

I reached the exact point on the map but there was nothing there, so I had to do a bit of exploring. I thought I found a path but that just led to me falling in a ditch and then discovering a locked gate.

After getting some help from the locals I eventually found my way up one of the chocolate hills, that I got to enjoy all by myself with no tourists to annoy me. Despite the mishap, it felt like a great success!

I looked for somewhere to enjoy some tasty Filipino food on my journey back to Panglao, and found a restaurant called Don Lechon. Lechon is rotisserie pig - a food that I've been meaning to try since I got to the Philippines but haven't found the authentic one yet.

I thought I'd get the authentic pork lechon at Don Lechon, but it was only chicken. Apparently chicken can also be lechon.

On my last day in Bohol, before returning my scooter, I finally visited the Hinagdanan Cave and I have to say it was underwhelming. It's just a cave with a pool of water. It's cool to look at for a few seconds but that's it. Most people were there to swim, but I passed on that, as it didn't look clean.

I ended my Bohol adventure with a fruit smoothie, made by friendly local woman.

I recommend renting a motorbike if you visit Bohol. It was the best way to explore this amazing island.

In light of the Lenten season, this is a good place of pilgrimage for all the faithful devotees.

Street vendors start to set up their stalls for the first night of the Ramadan Night Market in Colon Street tonight, March 24, 2023.

COLON NIGHT MARKET IS BACK
Scenes during the first night as the night market on Colon Street reopened on Friday, March 24, 2023
Old Cebu Colon Street, Philippines

Colon street a must see place in the province of Cebu, also known as the shortest and oldest national road in the Philippines.

Colon street is named after Cristobal Colon also known as Christopher Columbus.

Through the years, Colon Street became more popular when Miguel Lopez de Legaspi developed the place based on the town plan.
Now, Colon is the place where you can find fashionable shops, movie houses, and different offices, as one of the busiest street in Metro Cebu.

It has become the place for commercial activities in the province.

In Colon area, it is also where the first establishments like buildings, offices and universities (including: University of Cebu, University of San Carlos and University of San Jose – Recoletos) are conveniently located.

Colon Street is also known as the center of trade and commerce. Many businessmen and investors believe that if they invest in Colon the profit is halfway to be achieved because of its popularity.

Colon witnessed the rise and downfall of Cebu, making it more historical than any street in the province.

Colon is the perfect place to visit, where you can witness colorful Christmas decors.

It is also a perfect place for searching a good value for your money

One of the highlights in Colon Street, is the annual tiange, also called as the open – air market, where shoppers double in number than usual.

Started in the year 2000, shoppers choose Colon instead of going to malls because Colon shops and stores offer much cheaper prices.

Colon still holds the title as the 'bargain hunters' area, because the shoppers after a tiresome day of shopping may take comfort and reward themselves by indulging...

in movies, fast foods, halo-halo (ice-cream refreshment with fruits & all sorts of beans), common restaurants, etc.

Knowing the Street's history is as rewarding as much as the things you can enjoy with in this area.

Is LIMASAWA the best island in PHILIPPINES?

LIMASAWA is famous as it is believed to be the site of the first mass in Philippine soil, officiated on Easter Sunday of March 31, 1521 by Father Pedro de Valderrama under the fleet of Ferdinand Magellan.

LIMASAWA ISLAND - Philippines
is an island municipality in the province of Southern Leyte, Philippines.

At the request of the residents of the island of Limasawa,
the six barangays that comprise that island were detached and separated from the municipality of Padre Burgos. Limasawa completely became a municipality on August 27, 1989, after former President Corazon Aquino ordered the plebiscite which its residents voted in favor of the creation. The island, also known as Sarangani Island, is located south of Leyte, in the Mindanao or Bohol Sea. It is about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) long from north to south and is the smallest municipality in the province, in both area and population.

A simple celebration was held Wednesday in the island town of Limasawa, Southern Leyte to mark the 500th anniversary of the First Easter Mass in the Philippines.

Hundreds of pre-selected pilgrims, government officials, and Roman Catholic priests flocked to the island town to attend the solemn mass and thanksgiving program amid limitations brought by the pandemic.

This Wetland was home to the World's Largest Crocodile in Captivity

The Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area in Agusan del Sur. The marshland acts like a sponge, as it is nestled in the midwaters of the Agusan River drainage basin. Within its lakes, several floating communities can be found. The sanctuary was home to the 20.24 feet (6.17 m) saltwater crocodile Lolong, the world's largest captive crocodile.

ITS GONE WRONG IN THE PHILIPPINES. We definitely didn't expect this in the Philippines. In this video we explain the previous few days as The Philippines received the tail end of a typhoon. Are we in the Philippines at the wrong time? This was going through our heads. The typhoon led to Ferry cancelations and a lot of rain. We were stuck in El Nido waiting for our Ferry to Coron Island. We waited 5 days for the rain to stop and the ferries to run again. Unfortunately for us, we already had our flight booked from Coron to Cebu. Which each day that went passed we were unsure if we would actually make it. Watch till the end to see exactly how it all panned out for us here in The Philippines.

(Schaffhausen)
