Now we are in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh.
On the first day we visited various sightseeing places of Bhopal and then from Bhopal we went to Bhojpur, Bhimbetka and Sanchi. The previous two videos consecutively describe the complete sightseeing of Bhopal and India's tallest Shivalinga at Bhojpur and the first human-made cave paintings at Bhimbetka. In this video you will see the famous Sanchi Stupa.
Emperor Ashoka built this Sanchi Stupa in the third century BC. Gautama Buddha's bones are preserved in Sachestupa. This Stupa is one of the most sacred places for Buddhists. In Bhopal, one of India's most historic monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, don't forget to visit the Sanchi Stupa.

विदिशा शहर, सांची से सिर्फ 9 किमी दूर है। यह ऐतिहासिक रूप से विदिशा जिले का मुख्यालय था। एक समय में इस शहर को बेसनगर कहा जाता था। यह सम्राट् अशोक के राज्य का एक महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा था। सम्राट् अशोक की पत्नी देवी को वेदिसा-महादेवी कहा जाता था। उन्हीं के नाम पर इसका नाम विदिशा पड़ा।
विदिशा मध्य प्रदेश के मध्य में स्थित है और यह राजधानी भोपाल के बहुत पास है, विदिशा सड़क और रेल संपर्क से दोनों ओर से जाने योग्य है। भोपाल (65 किलोमीटर) निकटतम हवाई अड्डा है, जो दिल्ली, मुंबई, हैदराबाद और उदयपुर से जुड़ा हुआ है। टैक्सी-सवारी में विदिशा से भोपाल पहुंचने में लगभग 1-2 घंटे लगते हैं।

7 Wonders of India: Sanchi Stupa
The Great Stupa is located 46 km north east of Bhopal, and 10 km from Besnagar and Vidisha in the central part of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The Sanchi Stupa is surrounded by a railing with four carved gateways facing all the four directions. There is an image of a Greek warrior guarding the gates. The gateways of Sanchi stupas contain ornamented depiction of incidents from the life of the Buddha and his previous incarnations.

The Buddha, according to the tenets of early Buddhist art, is portrayed in symbols: the lotus representing his build, the tree representing his enlightenment, the wheel, derived from his title of his first sermon, and the footprints and throne symbolising his presence.

Sanchi Stupa is a Buddhist complex, famous for its Great Stupa, on a hilltop at Sanchi Town in Raisen District of the State of Madhya Pradesh, India.
It is located in 46 kilometres from Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh.
The Great Stupa at Sanchi is one of the oldest stone structures in India, and an important monument of Indian Architecture.
It was originally commissioned by the emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE.
Its nucleus was a simple hemispherical brick structure built over the relics of the Buddha.
It was crowned by the chatra, a parasol-like structure symbolising high rank, which was intended to honour and shelter the relics.
The original construction work of this stupa was overseen by Ashoka, whose wife Devi was the daughter of a merchant of nearby Vidisha.
Sanchi was also her birthplace as well as the venue of her and Ashoka's wedding.
The Sanchi Stupa built during Mauryan period was made of bricks.
The Great Stupa at Sanchi is one of the most important Buddhist monuments reflecting gem of Buddhist art and architecture.
Four ornamental gateways facing four directions and a balustrade surrounding the Stupa were later added in the first century BCE.
A typical example of a Stupa and an excellent illustration of the development of Buddhist art and sculpture starting from the third century BC through
the twelfth century AD, the Sanchi Stupa attracts hundreds of visitors from across the world.
Enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1989, it is counted among the best conserved ancient Stupas of central India.
In 1818, the existence of the Sanchi Stupa was documented in English by a British officer named General Taylor.
Till 1881 treasure hunters and Amateur archaeologists caused extensive damage to the Stupa following which appropriate
steps were undertaken to restore the ancient monument.
Sir John Hubert Marshall, who served as the Director General of the ‘Archaeological Survey of India’ (ASI) from 1902 to 1928 supervised the restoration work
of the Stupa between 1912 and 1919.
The site remains open from sunrise to sunset.
As climate of the place remains hot throughout the year, the best time to visit Sanchi is during the winters, from November to March.
Entry fees per person for Indian citizens and visitors of SAARC and BIMSTEC nations is Rs. 30/- and for others is Rs. 500/-.
Entry is free for children up to 15 years of age.

Sanchi Stupa is a Buddhist complex, 46km from Bhopal and famous for its Great Stupa, on a hilltop at Sanchi Town in Raisen District of the State of Madhya Pradesh, India.
The Great Stupa at Sanchi is one of the oldest stone structures in India, and an important monument of Indian Architecture. It was originally commissioned by the emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE.
Enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1989, it is counted among the best conserved ancient Stupas of central India.
The site remains open from sunrise to sunset.
