Rushden Walk: Town Centre【4K】
Located in the county of Northamptonshire, and around 35 miles southeast of Leicester, is the town of Rushden.
The name 'Rushden' literally means 'rushy valley'. It appears in the Domesday Book of 1086 as 'Risdene'.
During the 14th century, Rushden Hall was built at the southern end of the town centre. Over the centuries it has been home to various wealthy families. In 1930 it was opened to the public, and today it serves as the headquarters of Rushden Town Council. The building is Grade II listed and features at the start of the walk in Hall Park.
At the centre of town at its most elevated point is the striking St Mary's Church, whose origins go back to the 13th century. The tower was enlarged in the 14th century, and the spire was built, which is 52 metres/172 feet high, and can be seen from several miles away.
Industry in Rushden initially consisted primarily of agriculture. Following the Industrial Revolution, lace-making and brick-making were introduced. During the late 19th century, shoe-making began in Rushden. By the early 20th century it had become a major industry, having secured large government contracts to supply army boots. At its peak, around the mid-20th century, there were over 100 boot and shoe factories in Rushden. The industry began to decline with the emergence of foreign imports - first from Italy, then from the eastern countries. Some of the redundant factories have since been converted into flats. One notable company still in operation is Sanders & Sanders, who have been crafting footwear in Rushden since 1873.
In 1894 a railway station opened in Rushden. It was situated on a branch line between Wellingborough and Higham Ferrers. It closed to passengers in 1959, and the station closed completely ten years later. In 1996 the station was bought by the Rushden Historical Transport Society. Since then it has been transformed into a museum and heritage railway with over half a mile of track.
Rushden is represented in sport by A.F.C. Rushden & Diamonds. This is a phoenix club that formed in 2011 following the dissolution of their previous incarnation: Rushden & Diamonds F.C. who were in existence between 1992 and 2011. They formed as a merger between Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds from the neighbouring town. The original club, Rushden Town, was founded in 1889.

Rushden Lakes is a major shopping and leisure complex in Rushden, Northamptonshire, almost 2 hours from London! There are around 40 shops predominantly focussing on fashion and a dozen cafes and restaurants. But This area have to offer even more. Many nature walking trails are around of Rusden lakes area as parts of NENE WETLANDS. The Nene Wetlands is part of the Upper Nene Valley Gravel Pits Site of Special Scientific Interest and Special Protection Area. Today We will walk part of shopping area and one of this nature trails the Skew Bridge Lake. I hope you will like it!!

Walk and Essential Shopping at Rushden Lakes 22nd January 2021, Lots of Flooding.
Rushden Lakes is a major shopping and leisure complex in Rushden, Northamptonshire. It first opened in 2017 with further retail and leisure units added later including a Cineworld cinema which opened in 2019. It is situated just off the A45 on the northern outskirts of Rushden.
The Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire have a visitors centre which overlooks the Skew Bridge lake. Lots of floods here on this day.

Kettering is a town in Northamptonshire, England, about 81 miles north of London and 15 miles from Northampton. Kettering is mainly situated on the west side of the River Ise, a tributary of the River Nene which meets at Wellingborough. Originally named Cytringan, Kyteringas and Keteiringan in the 10th century, the name Kettering is now taken to mean 'the place (or territory) of Ketter's people (or kinsfolk).
Kettering is twinned with Lahnstein, in Germany and Kettering, Ohio, in the United States. Being part of the Milton Keynes South Midlands (MKSM) study area along with other towns in Northamptonshire, the town of Kettering is due to get around 6,000 additional homes mainly to the east of the town. Kettering , like other towns in the area, has a growing commuter population as it is located on the Midland Main Line railway, which has fast InterCity trains directly into London St Pancras International taking around 1 hour. This gives an interchange Eurostar services to Continental Europe.
The A14 skirts the west and south of the town, links the town with the A45 dual carriageway, M1 and M6 motorways. The A6003 links Kettering to Corby. The A43 links Kettering with Corby and the county town of Northampton and the A509 ( Kettering / Wellingborough Road ) links Kettering with Wellingborough. Rail services operated by East Midlands Trains depart every 30 minutes from Kettering to St Pancras International railway station, with an average journey time of 59 minutes.
Wicksteed Park is an amusement park in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England. The park opened in 1921. It is the second oldest theme park in the UK; the oldest is Blackgang Chine on the Isle of Wight. It is located 2 miles (3.2 km) from the A14 and is signposted from the M1 & A1 and located near the Midland Main Line between London and Sheffield.
