Hotel Europa
This is the Hotel I stayed at in Florence, Italy on June 21, 2011. It was part of a Cosmos tour. It was clean but had a very small TV about 8-10 inches. The room's electrical system only works with your room key inserted into a slot on the wall. This makes it difficult to charge camera batteries while not in your room. A train station was right next to the hotel and it only took 15 minutes to get into downtown Florence. I bought my train tickets from the hotel desk.

La Costa Smeralda, situata in provincia di Arzachena, con le sue splendide spiagge e località è probabilmente il tratto di costa della Sardegna più famoso e conosciuto al mondo. Luogo privilegiato per i molti vip che vengono qui a trascorrere le vacanze, offre alcune tra le spiagge più belle di tutta l'isola.
Il centro assoluto della Costa Smeralda è l'elegante Porto Cervo, ricca di giardini, negozi, locali e ritrovi alla moda. Unanimemente considerata il capoluogo della costa, d'estate si affolla di turisti che si riuniscono nella famosa piazzetta delle Chiacchiere o lungo il Porto Vecchio.
E pensare che prima degli anni 60' questa era una delle zone più selvagge e deserte della Sardegna. Poi, nel 1962 un gruppo di imprenditori ed operatori turistici, sotto la guida di Karim al-Husayni fondarono il Consorzio Costa Smeralda ed in poco tempo divenne una delle mete preferite dal jet set internazionale.
Ma adesso tuffiamoci in queste acque limpide ed andiamo alla scoperta delle spiagge più belle della Costa Smeralda
LE SPIAGGE DELLA COSTA SMERALDA: LISCIA RUJA
Se arrivate ad Olbia con il traghetto, percorrendo la Strada Provinciale 94 (SP94), non potete fare a meno di notare la spiaggia di Liscia Ruja (detta anche Long Beach), che con i suoi 500 metri di litorale è la spiaggia più grande ed attrezzata di tutta la Costa Smeralda oltre che una delle più amate ed apprezzate dai turisti.
L'arenile è caratterizzato da sabbia bianchissima con leggere sfumature rosate ed acqua limpida. Certo i prezzi degli stabilimenti sono un po' alti, ma ne vale davvero la pena...date un'occhiata alla foto e giudicate voi!
SPIAGGIA CAPRICCIOLI
La spiaggia di Capriccioli è probabilmente una della più belle di tutta la Costa Smeralda. Non a caso anche se non molto grande, durante i mesi di alta stagione è tra le più affollate dai turisti che vengono qui per ammirare lo splendido contrasto naturale tra la roccia, la sabbia e la macchia mediterranea circostante, uno dei paesaggi più suggestivi ed affascinanti di tutta la Sardegna.
Inoltre un comodo parcheggio distante pochi metri dalla spiaggia vi permette di raggiungerla direttamente con l'automobile. Si tratta di una delle spiagge più amate e frequentate dalle famiglie con bambini.
LE SPIAGGE DELLA COSTA SMERALDA: LA CELVIA
Situata tra Cala Volpe e Cala Capriccioli, la Celvia è una delle più incantevoli spiagge della Costa Smeralda ma anche una delle più frequentate da vip, turisti, e venditori ambulanti.
Caratterizzata da un arenile di sabbia a grana grossa formata da frammenti di conchiglie multicolori è chiusa alle estremità da massi di granito levigati dal mare, con una folta vegetazione mediterranea alle spalle ed un grande albero al centro.
Qui si affacciano direttamente sulla spiaggia alcune delle ville più belle di tutta l'isola.
LE SPIAGGE DELLA COSTA SMERALDA: SPIAGGIA DEL PRINCIPE
Questa piccola baia deve il suo nome proprio al fatto di essere stata la preferita del principe Aga Khan. E come dargli torto? Sabbia bianchissima ed un mare azzurro limpido con splendidi fondali ricchi di fauna marina fanno di questa spiaggia un vero angolo di paradiso!
Consigli utili: in alcuni periodi dell'anno purtroppo la spiaggia si riempie di posidonia e la stradina per raggiungerla è un pò impervia, perciò il nostro consiglio è innanzitutto di visitarla nei mesi di giugno e settembre quando è meno affollata ed in secondo luogo di non portare anziani o bambini che potrebbero avere problemi durante il tragitto.
Per tutto il resto godetevela e sentitevi come un vero principe!
SPIAGGIA ROMAZZINO
La spiaggia di Romazzino si trova subito dopo la spiagge del Principe di fronte all'omonimo hotel. A differenza delle spiagge di cui abbiamo parlato in precedenza qui l'arenile è caratterizzato da una sabbia più grossolana che si bagna in un fondale basso di acqua limpida.
Meno blasonata delle altre, questa piccola spiaggia presenta in cambio alcuni innegabili vantaggi! Nei periodi di maggiore afflusso turistico, qui non solo è quasi sempre possibile trovare posto per il vostro ombrellone, ma anche parcheggio per la vostra auto. Un vero must per chi cerca un po' di tranquillità e vuole evitare un bagno di folla!
LE SPIAGGE DELLA COSTA SMERALDA: SPIAGGE DEL PEVERO
A pochi chilometri da Porto Cervo, nella frazione di Golfo Pevero, poco distante da locali come moda il Billionaire di Flavio Briatore, si trovano due tra le spiagge più famose di tutta la Costa Smeralda.
La spiaggia del Piccolo Pevero, si trova nella parte centrale dell'omonimo golfo, incastonata in un contesto ancora naturale e selvaggio. La fine sabbia bianca ed il basso fondale che si affaccia su un mare verde smeraldo la rendono adatta alle famiglie con bambini. Nelle vicinanze sono disponibili bar, alberghi, ristoranti e negozi.
La spiaggia del Grande Pevero è un'ampia mezzaluna di sabbia candida e soffice che contrasta con acque turchesi.

Abby Ganna - GANNA (VALGANNA) ITALY
St. Gemolo was a young soldier, beheaded in 1047 for his faith. According to legend, he went to the place where the abbey now stands to be buried, bearing his own head in his hands. Impressed by the solitude and the strategic location of the place, in the second half of the century three priests from the Milan Duomo decided to found a monastery.
Its priory had complete sovereignty over the valley and the abbey was characterised as a small monastic dominion. Feudal power was expressed well by the architecture, fortified with a double masonry ring and some towers, unfortunately destroyed later.
St. Gemolo's wealth began to decline in the 1400's. Then, in 1511, the building was burned and plundered by Swiss troops. It was later restored and equipped with a baroque façade toward the river, but the monastic community progressively died out and the abbey was finally sold to private individuals in 1894.
