AMERICA'S LARGEST HINDU TEMPLE Visiting the Akshardham Mahamandir in Robbinsville New Jersey | 2023

In this video, TeamHira Adventures went to visit the recently opened 183-acre BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville, New Jersey. It is considered America's largest Hindu Temple built in modern times outside of Asia! About 15 years in the making, over 12,500 volunteers most from the U.S., Canada, & India worked hard to create such a beautiful historic landmark. Walking into the temple feels like you are transported to India as visitors walked barefoot on the marble floors, admiring in awe of the beauty from the intricate stone carvings of deities etched into the walls and ceilings. The images and stone carvings on the walls conveyed stories from Hindu scriptures. Designed by Hindu scriptures, it also includes design elements from ancient Indian culture of 10,000 statues and carvings. Despite the excitement of the recently built Hindu temple, let's not forget the millions of hours of labor and dedication that went into the construction of the Shri Swaminarayan Akshardham. Hundreds of immigrants from the lowest strata of Indian society were forced to work at the Robbinsville site and other temples operated by BAPS for little as $1.20 an hour, according to a pending class action lawsuit. Among the volunteers were business executives, physicians, students, and exceptional architects who dedicated their time in constructing the temple. In spite of this, the Hindu temple was only possible because people from all walks of life came together to accomplish this monumental project.

Nilkanth Varni, teenaged Bhagwan Swaminarayan bronze statue stands in a yogic posture at 49-feet tall at the entrance of the Akshardham. His calm composure symbolizes discipline, spiritual focus, compassion, empathy, and tranquil service to all.

The Brahma Kund, a traditional stepped pond is filled with the water from the sacred holy rivers of India and those flowing through the United States. The stepped pond honors precious water our planet provides. It allows oneself to stop, reflect, and engage in self-discovery.

The Welcome Center brings visitors a feeling of warmth and hospitality. As you enter you are greeted graciously by volunteers of the temple.

The Mandir is a place of Hindu worship where worshippers come to experience tranquility, self-discovery, and devotion expressed by religious Hindu scriptures carved from stone on the walls, sacred images, and murtis.

The Akshardham Mahamandir is the grand centerpiece. The Mahamandir brings people from all walks of life to inspire, educate, and connect with our beloved divine. Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the fifth spiritual successor of Bhagwan Swaminarayan envisioned a majestic spiritual temple in the U.S. to inspire through architecture, Hindu art, and Hindu culture.

The Shayona Cafe offers delightful vegetarian Indian and Western cuisines. These cuisines focus on the idea of non-violence, in which they nurture the body, the mind, and the soul with mindfulness.

St Louis: The MOST Dangerous City In The United States / Journey To The Top Of The Gateway Arch

The 10 Most Dangerous Cities In The United States:

We visited St Louis, Missouri, which a recent Forbes article named the most dangerous city in the country. With 70 murders per 100,000, St Louis ranked #1 last year. The city does have a clean, nice downtown and I went up in the Gateway Arch, which was amazing. The city has many other claims to fame as well, such as being the first U.S. city to host the Olympics (1904).

We stayed at the Drury Inn St Louis

Our Favorite Missouri State Park! // Echo Bluff State Park // Eminence, MO [EP 41]

Ever since we stumbled across this beautiful property on the day it opened as Missouri's newest state park in July, 2016, we have loved Echo Bluff State Park. The lodge is expansive with beautifully appointed rooms and a quaint restaurant. The cabins are the perfect combination of rustic and modern. The campground is clean, paved, and has full hookups. The best part is that the gorgeous setting provides great views of Sinking Creek, the beautiful colorful bluff, and surrounding rolling hills. There are many adventures to be had within striking distance of the state park including Alley Mill, Rocky Falls, floating on the Current River, and countless hikes. These are the reasons that Echo Bluff State Park is our favorite! :)

▶︎ Video correction/update (January 14, 2020)
After uploading, we were informed by Echo Bluff State Park of a correction. Here is the note we received from Connie Weber, Interpretive Resource Specialist II, Current River Management Unit, Echo Bluff State Park: We are 100% reservable, there are NO first come first serve camping unless they have not been reserved and you luck into an empty spot. Thanks, Connie, for the feedback.

Pacific, Missouri is A Classic Route 66 Town

Pacific is about a 30 minute drive southwest from St. Louis along Interstate 44. Old Route 66 runs right through town as well. Pacific has a history of Silica mining, and a civil war battle once took place here. Today Pacific is a St. Louis suburb as the interstate highway has encouraged suburban like growth, and suburban like growth will likely continue here slowly but surely.

Meramec State Park Campground - Park Travel Review

Meramec State Park is near the town of Sullivan, Missouri. It has one of the most popular campgrounds in the Missouri State Park System. It is also very large. The campground sits on the Meramec River and is very popular with people that like to float on the river.

We stayed in Campsite 203. It is an electric site and we had plenty of room to set up our Forest River A Frame Camper and our screened in tent and grill.

Missouri State Parks are WHAT? | FREE!!! Things to do in Missouri | RVing on a budget

Skip to bottom to see park name and time stamp...

We lived on a budget before we hit the road and we are even more budget conscious now. We're always looking for great adventure with a minimal price tag and Missouri state parks are FREE! We are keen on picking up a state parks pass to states we're visiting, especially if you plan on hitting several parks in that state because it will pay for itself in just a few trips.

We didn't get to visit all the areas we wanted to see, but we did see a great collection.

We highly suggest a tag along that hooks to an adult bike if you have younger kids. We picked ours up used, but we highly considered this one before we found ours.
???? ????

Toddlers pose their own challenges and biking can create some. We LOVE this front mount seat for Graham. Make sure the kids aren't trying to nap in this one though! ???? Want your own seat? You can find it here.

U.S. Route 30 or U.S. Highway 30 (US 30) is an east–west main route in the system of the United States Numbered Highways, with the highway traveling across the northern tier of the country. With a length of 3,073 miles (4,946 km), it is the third longest U.S. highway, after U.S. Route 20 (US 20) and U.S. Route 6. The western end of the highway is at US 101 in Astoria, Oregon; the eastern end is at Virginia Avenue, Absecon Boulevard, and Adriatic Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Despite long stretches of parallel and concurrent Interstate Highways, it has not been decommissioned unlike other long haul routes such as U.S. Route 66.

The 0 as the last number in the digit indicates that it is a coast-to-coast route and a major east-west route. Much of the historic Lincoln Highway, the first road across the United States (from New York City to San Francisco), became part of US 30; it is still known by that name in many areas.

US 30 and US 20 break the general U.S. Route numbering guidelines in Oregon, since US 20 actually starts south of US 30 in Newport, Oregon and US 30 runs parallel to the north throughout the state (the Columbia River and Interstate 84). The two run concurrently and continue in the correct positioning near Caldwell, Idaho. This is because US 20 was not a planned coast-to-coast route while US 30 was. US 20 originally ended at the eastern entrance of Yellowstone National Park; it was extended in 1940.
