Подъбелковое озеро. ВКО Риддер часть 1 // Radon Lake. East Kazakhstan Ridder
Подбелковое (Радоновое) — озеро на территории городского акимата Риддера в Восточно-Казахстанской области. Располагается у подножья наивысшей точки Ивановского хребта — Вышеивановского Белка, на высоте 1906,5 метров над уровнем моря. Ближайшие населённые пункты: город Риддер (в 24 км к западу), село Поперечное (в 10 км к северу) и поселье Серый Луг (в 6 км к северо-востоку). По неофициальным источникам название Радоновое озеро появилось из-за попадания воды с содержанием радона, вытекающей из заброшенной штольни в озеро.

Slow Rider to Ridder - the Last 50 miles of the E40 European Road
The Congress of Rough Riders brings you slow adventure biking, like those log fires and train rides the Norwegians love. No uplifting, soaring music. No whacky adventures or encounters (on video, at least). Minimum chat. Just me (Filthy Phil) and the bike gently completing the final leg of the E40 on 27 May 2018 after 4 weeks on the road from England.
If Route 66 is America's greatest road, the E40 should be Europe's. Commencing just outside the Eurotunnel terminal on the A16 at Calais, France it runs for about 5000 miles/8000km to Ridder (formerly Leninogorsk), in North-East Kazakhstan. On the way it runs via Kiev, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Atyrau, Beyneu, Bokhara, Samarkand, Taskent, Bishkek and Almaty, traversing parts of the fabled Silk Road. Part of the road runs through the mysterious desert of Karakalpakstan between the Caspian and Aral seas before crossing the Amu Darya, the famed River Oxus of classical times. Most of the road from the Russo-Kaz border to the end has potholes so deep they contain lost tribes and have their own microclimate.
This video runs from just south of Sekisovka where the E40 diverges from the Kaz A10 for the final run east to Ridder on the Sino-Russo border. There is no sign in Ridder to tell you where the road ends but the roundabout with the globe just inside town is as good a place as any. Or the town square where the video finishes. I stayed just the one night - I only went for a beer and see what it was there, really. And ended up having a truly brilliant evening in a bonkers disco at the Hotel Altay. Ridder itself is on the edge of the beautiful Altai mountains. One day, if there is any justice, it should be mobbed by skiers.
Some of you may want Hollywood-style production or Dakar-style biking technique. There are other places for that. It is what it is. Hope you like it.
