Top Restaurants to Visit in Ravenshead, Nottinghamshire | England - English

Ravenshead is a charming village located in Nottinghamshire, England. With a rich history dating back to the medieval times, Ravenshead has evolved into a thriving community that offers a unique blend of historical charm and modern amenities.

The name Ravenshead is believed to originate from the Old English word hreofn which means raven and heafod which means headland. This suggests that the village was once a prominent landmark for ravens, which were commonly found in the area.

One of the notable historical landmarks in Ravenshead is Newstead Abbey, a former Augustinian priory that was converted into a grand country house. This stunning architectural masterpiece was home to the famous poet Lord Byron and is now open to the public as a museum and park.

Newstead Abbey - Nottinghamshire - England

Once home to the great romantic poet Lord Byron, there is much to see and do at this picturesque site. All year round visitors can enjoy its stunning grounds. Visitors can explore the House on Saturdays & Sunday’s including the medieval cloisters, splendid Victorian room settings and even the private apartments of Byron. The house is also available for private tours and special events, these must be arranged in advanced. Minimum of 10 people per party. The Café at the Abbey is open daily.

Newstead Abbey - 5 Things You May Not Know (4K)

5 things you may not know about Newstead Abbey. If you've never visited then I heartily suggest a trip to this ancestral home of the famous poet - Lord Byron.
Suitable for almost everyone. The location has disabled parking, toilets, and a cafe. Many of the paths are flat, and suitable for wheelchairs, or pushchairs. It is also popular with cyclists - who visit, or pass through.
Wildlife is abundant - plenty of wildfowl on the lakes. Look out for the peacocks. I've seen common lizards. There are white clawed crayfish in the lakes - though I haven't seen these.
The gardens are stunning, particularly the Japanese gardens - within which there are a number of beautiful waterfalls.
Whether you're here as someone who already loves Newstead Abbey, or someone planning a visit - thank you for watching, and enjoy your visit to Newstead Abbey.
Note that I am not affiliated in any way with Newstead Abbey, I simply live locally and I love to visit.

Batman's House Wollaton Hall and Deer Park Near University of Nottingham England United Kingdom

This video shows our walk in Wollaton Hall and Deer Park grounds on Sunday a few weeks ago. The site is a 500-acres of grandeur gardens and parkland located 3 miles west of Nottingham City Centre and is also very close to the University of Nottingham’s main campus. Wollaton Hall is home to the Nottingham’s Natural History Museum. In 2012, the Hall was used as the setting for Wayne Manor, the Batman’s home, in the film Batman, the Dark Knight Rises. The courtyard buildings houses Nottingham’s Industrial Museum, a gift shop, cafes and toilets. There are Formal Gardens situated at the rear of the hall and there is also a small walled Botanical Garden adjacent to the stable block. There are red and fallow deer at the park. The Wollaton Park lake is a good place to walk around and perfect for wildlife spotting.

Stagecoach Pronto (short) Full Route Visual- Nottingham to Mansfield

Hey all, what a beautiful week this has been!!
And, here I present you a full route visual from last Saturday, on the short version of the Pronto from Nottingham, Victoria Bus Station to Mansfield Bus Station via Clarendon College, Carrington, Sherwood, Daybrook, Redhill, Papplewick, Ravenshead, Newstead Abbey, Harlow Wood, Berry Hill and Titchfield Park.

The Pronto runs every 10 minutes between Nottingham and Mansfield, with buses extending from Mansfield to Chesterfield every 30 minutes. I will get the full timelapse to Chesterfield in August hopefully, however, at the moment, this will have to do. There is no difference in route between Nottingham and Mansfield.

Thankfully, Stagecoach is wise and has put new double deckers on the route now. I wonder whether Trent Barton will open their eyes to all the many other operators up and down the country with double deckers in their fleets... Maybe in about 50 years, if we're lucky!!

Thanks for watching! Please remember to like and subscribe! :)

Rushcliffe Country Park Ruddington Nottingham.

. If you liked my content please hit like ????and subscribe. Set in the beautiful countryside about half a mile south of Ruddington, Rushcliffe Country Park is an ideal place to get away from it all. With a network of over 8 kilometers of footpaths, grassland, conservation, and landscaped areas, the park is excellent for walking, jogging, cycling, spotting wildlife, and exercising your dog. Bring your family and a picnic and encourage your children to let off steam in the extensive play area, which has around 20 pieces of modern equipment for children up to the age of 12. The play area includes a swing suitable for less able children (safety equipment is available on request) and part of the equipment is accessible to wheelchair users. For older children, there's a skateboard midi half pipe, and a 4X/ BMX cycle track situated nearby. Access to the park is free. The County Park has a visitor’s car park and for just £1, you can park for your whole visit (up to a full day).
