Résidence royale puis présidentielle, désormais le château est ouvert à la visite.
On évoque également le parc et la forêt de Rambouillet mais surtout la laiterie de la reine Marie-Antoinette et la chaumière aux coquillages, 2 joyaux incroyables.

The 5th episode of the cycle-lapses series is a 68 km ride from Chartres to Rambouillet and Maintenon. Again I pass through the heart of the main agricultural region of France, Beauce and some French villages, less than 100 km southwest of Paris.
The starting point is Chartres. This is the capital of the Eure-et-Loir department in France. Here is one of the best preserved Gothic cathedrals and some famous stained glass workshops and schools.
Rambouillet is the place of the first ride break. It is located not far from Paris (about 40km). Here is the nice Castle of Rambouillet, a former medieval fortress, it was gradually transformed into a pleasure residence and embellished with elegant decorations by its illustrious owners among others Louis XVI, Napoleon I and even some Presidents of the Republic.
Maintenon is located about 60km from Paris. Here it ia The Castle of Maintenon. This was the private residence of the second spouse of Louis XIV, Madame de Maintenon.
