???????? CÓRDOBA, VERACRUZ | Why does NO ONE come here? | AMAZING MEXICAN Seafood! | MEXICO TRAVEL 2022

???????? CÓRDOBA, VERACRUZ - Hola amigos and welcome to the first video from my Mexico Travel 2022 series! We're in Córdoba and Orizaba, Veracruz for the next 2 videos, exploring a state which has eluded me for years on my previous Mexico trips! Why does no one come here?

Prepare for amazing Mexican seafood with the awesome Arroz a la Tumbada, a great example of Mexican food (comida Mexicana, or comida Veracruzana!), an insane ruined hacienda in Toxpan, formerly a sugar mill, and a walk around a Mexican city which has a lot to offer!

If you're looking for places to visit or things to do in Mexico, Córdoba is a great option as a lesser-known city with no expats or foreigners! (at least I didn't see any!). Alternatively, if you are one of those people interested in moving to Mexico, Córdoba might be a possibility!

???????? I HATED ORIZABA, Veracruz (You'll Probably LOVE IT!) | The Most TACKY Magic Town in Mexico?

???????? ORIZABA, VERACRUZ - Yes, I hated it! Ok, before you start with the whole 'everything in Mexico is perfect' garbage, remember that we don't have to like everywhere we visit. Plus, it helps if you're not tired and in a bad mood. LOL. I've been to countless Pueblos Magicos over the years but never really been confronted with Mexico's version of cheap and tacky family tourism, until now!

Plastic flamingoes, animals in cages, overpriced everything, 4 hour waits for attractions, and a town which really wasn't magic at all. Why is Orizaba a Magic Town? I much preferred CORDOBA!

I went on a little weekend trip from Mexico City (CDMX) and was staying in Cordoba for the weekend. I was hoping to find somewhere with some awesome Mexican food (everything was closed) and to go up on a Teleferico (good luck), but was confronted by crocodiles and cheap and tacky tourism not indicative of other magic towns.

In summary, touristic places are not my cup of tea. Give me a gritty city with no tourism or an abandoned building- that's my idea of travel. But saying that, if it's your first Mexico trip or you are planning to move to Mexico and have never been before, Orizaba does offer you a good introduction to Pueblos Magicos.

Climb Pico de Orizaba 5636m highest Mexico volcano

Pico de Orizaba (Citlaltepetl) is the highest mountain in Mexico, the 3rd highest in North America after Denali and Mount Logan, and the highest volcano in North America.

There are three main sections to the Jamapa Glacier route – the scree, the Labyrinth, and the Jamapa Glacier.

0:06 We drove out of Puebla
0:21 We drove thru Tlachichuca 2616m
And then turned onto a dirt road
0:33 We arrived in the small village of Miguel Hidalgo 3430m after driving 2:10 from Puebla
We had a delicious lunch while we waited for the 4x4 to take us to base camp
The 4x4 arrived and we drove out of the village
0:54 The dirt road was very rough toward base camp
1:04 We had views of Pico de Orizaba as we neared base camp
1:21 We arrived at base camp camping at about 4200m after driving 70 minutes
The Piedra Grande Hut was a little farther
And Pico de Orizaba towered above
The camping area is well equipped
1:50 The sun set on Pico de Orizaba and we went to our tents to get some sleep
1:58 I woke at 23:30, got ready and had coffee and toast for breakfast
2:10 We started the climb at 0:45
And quickly passed the Piedra Grande Hut 4250m
The route is initially along the concrete aqueduct above the hut
Looking back at the headlamps of other climbers
2:38 The route ahead is on a steep rocky and scree slope
2:57 We started up the labyrinth at about 4600m after climbing for 2:15
3:06 We could see the Jamapa glacier in the distance as we neared the top of the labyrinth
We reached the bottom of the Jamapa glacier at about 5100m after climbing for 4 hours
3:24 We put on our crampons, roped up and started climbing the Jamapa glacier
3:31 The first light of day turned the horizon a deep yellow orange
The Jamapa glacier was at about a 30 degree incline
3:54 Sarcofago 5080m below us burned a bright orange at sunrise
The higher we climbed the steeper it became
4:26 The sun cast the shadow of Pico de Orizaba on the surrounding countryside
Almost there!!
4:57 The final few metres to the summit was on scree
5:15 We reached the Pico de Orizaba summit after climbing 7:45 from base camp
5:28 Jerome Ryan, Dangles and guide Christian Luiz Reyes celebrate on the Pico de Orizaba summit
5:33 The 360 degree summit panorama begins with the volcano caldera
6:09 Sierra Negra 4580m, 5th highest peak in Mexico, has an observatory on the summit
6:38 The descent down the Jamapa Glacier was easy and fast, taking just 90 minutes
6:54 Then the scree and rock descent was a little harder and much slower
7:00 Back at base camp after a slow descent
7:07 Pico de Orizaba shone in the late afternoon sun as we drove back to Puebla

Bien merecido, ¿no crees?
