Jaguarão is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul . Located in the extreme south of the country and on the border with Uruguay , the municipality is seen by the federal government as an alternative for an international crossing over the Jaguarão River . On March 25 , 2009 , the Federal Senate of Brazil approved the construction of a new bridge , in agreement with the neighboring country, signed in 2007 . The connection will take place with the Uruguayan city of Rio Branco . [ 5 ] It was also where it occurred, in the Uruguayan War., the Battle of Jaguarão .
The Historic and Landscape Complex of Jaguarão was listed by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute . [ 6 ]
Río Branco is a city in the Cerro Largo department of northeastern Uruguay, it borders the Brazilian city of Jaguarão, with which it communicates through the Baron of Mauá International Bridge.

This destination is a super popular day trip from Buenos Aires, Argentina since it’s just 1 hour across by ferry on the Buquebus, but we’re going to show you what you can do with a couple of days here.
Together, we’ll be exploring the cobbled streets of the historic old town like the famous Street of Sighs, sampling a traditional Uruguayan dish known as chivito, museum hopping to learn about Colonia’s past, catching some spectacular sunsets on the riverfront, and befriending lots of dogs along the way, because you know us! So let’s go explore Colonia del Sacramento, shall we?

Niagara Falls seems just a little smaller now! A true world wonder, Iguazu Falls sits on the border between Brazil and Argentina and is known as the biggest waterfalls in the world because of the sheer number of falls (275) and also because they stretch for 3km (longer than any other waterfall system). It is definitely a jaw dropping attraction and I would highly recommend visiting both sides in you are able to. De Carro para o Uruguai, 2023

Uma dica para quem quer planejar férias diferentes ou, pra quem mora no Sul do Brasil, aproveitar feriados prolongados, uma dica é descer de carro para o Uruguai.
De Curitiba para Punta del Este - ida e volta - são 3 mil Km. Até lá você pode escolher diferentes caminhos, pela costa ou pelo interior.
Pra sair de Curitiba até o Uruguai você tem dois caminhos possíveis.
1) Pela costa de Santa Catarina e do Rio Grande do Sul, na BR 101, que é quase toda duplicada.
2) E outro pela BR 116, no interior, com pista simples, e que é um trajeto pouco mais curto.
NOSSA ESCOLHA:
Optamos por sair de Curitiba sentido Vacaria, RS - pegando a BR 116 e, ao todo, nesse primeiro trajeto, foram 5 pedágios, cada um de R$ 6,90. Um ainda em Fazenda Rio Grande, no Paraná; outro em Rio Negro, divisa com Santa Catarina; e os outros três nas cidades catarinenses de Monte Castelo, Santa Cecília e Correia Pinto. (Total de R$ 34,50).
Passamos por Lages, no planalto serrano e seguimos mais uma horinha pra frente até chegarmos em Vacaria, no Rio Grande do Sul. No dia seguinte, bora pegar a estrada outra vez, um trajeto de 332 Km até Porto Alegre. Percorremos 228Km até Gramado - onde passamos umas horinhas - e pagamos apenas um pedágio, de R$ 7,10 em São Francisco De Paula. Até Porto Alegre foram + 95 Km, que percorremos em quase duas horas de viagem, passando por Novo Hamburgo e São Leopoldo. Pagamos dois pedágios nesse trecho - na altura de Três Coroas (R$ 7,10) e Campo Bom (R$ 3,25) .
De POA até o Chuí são mais de 500 km, é a fronteira mais ao sul do Brasil. E nesse trecho, foram mais três pedágios, ao custo de R$ 15,20 cada um. É o trecho mais caro, sem dúvidas, mas a estrada é muito linda. São retas que parecem infinitas e você viaja tranquilo sem se preocupar.
DOCUMENTOS PARA FRONTEIRA:
E saindo do Chuy em direção ao litoral uruguaio, você vai precisar cruzar a aduana, e apresentar seus documentos. Bora tomar nota do que você vai precisar levar IMPRESSO:
- PASSAPORTE OU DOCUMENTO DE IDENTIDADE COM FOTO;
- DOCUMENTO DO CARRO;
- CARTEIRA DE MOTORISTA, SE VOCÊ FOR O CONDUTOR DO VEÍCULO;
- CARTA VERDE;
- COMPROVANTE DE VACINAÇÃO; (desde meados de fev 2023, não precisa mais)
- SEGURO SAÚDE.
SOBRE O PEDÁGIO NO URUGUAI:
No Uruguai é um pouco diferente, porque as praças de pedágio não têm aquele atendente esperando por você numa cabine individualizada. Então você vai precisar colocar uma TAG pré-paga no parabrisa do seu carro. Pra quem vai pela primeira vez, pode comprar a TAG na primeira praça de pedágio que você parar (fica perto de La Paloma). Custa mais ou menos uns 15 reais e eles vão carregar pra você com o valor que você pretende usar. Depois, se você quiser colocar mais créditos, é só carregar pela internet.

People are relaxed, chilled and know what is the importance of #SlowDown. They are so cool, that a small town voted to remove electricity from their homes! Because they want to experience living with nature in the style of good old days...
I was privileged to visit this fabulous place as a Rotary Scholar and stay in the homes of people there! I just realized that the images recorded are too few compared to the time spent there! The reason being, we had more photos of and with Uruguayos, i.e. the people of Uruguay!
It was a period which we all will cherish for the rest of our lives. Uruguay has a special place in our hearts!
The experiences we had can never be transferred to others! But, here is an attempt to showcase some of what Uruguay has to offer using the medium of Youtube.

About Montevideo: Montevideo is the capital and largest city of Uruguay. According to the 2011 census, the city proper has a population of 1,319,108 (about one-third of the countrys total population) in an area of 201 square kilometers (78 sq mi). Montevideo is situated on the southern coast of the country, on the northeastern bank of the Río de la Plata. The city was established in 1724 by a Spanish soldier, Bruno Mauricio de Zabala, as a strategic move amidst the Spanish-Portuguese dispute over the platine region. It was also under brief British rule in 1807, but eventually the city was retaken by Spanish criollos who defeated the British invasions of the River Plate. Montevideo is the seat of the administrative headquarters of Mercosur and ALADI, Latin Americas leading trade blocs, a position that entailed comparisons to the role of Brussels in Europe. The 2019 Mercers report on quality of life, rated Montevideo first in Latin America, a rank the city has consistently held since 2005. As of 2010, Montevideo was the 19th largest city economy in the continent and 9th highest income earner among major cities. In 2022, it has a projected GDP of $53.9 billion, with a per capita of $30,148. In 2018, it was classified as a beta global city ranking eighth in Latin America and 84th in the world. Montevideo hosted every match during the first FIFA World Cup, in 1930. Described as a vibrant, eclectic place with a rich cultural life, and a thriving tech center and entrepreneurial culture, Montevideo ranked eighth in Latin America on the 2013 MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index.
