Manzanillo is a Pacific Ocean port city and resort in the Mexican state of Colima. It's the site of 2 bays, Bahía de Manzanillo and Bahía de Santiago. The latter is known for beaches such as Playa La Audiencia, with calm surf for water sports. The waters off the coast have numerous coral reefs, shipwrecks and other dive sites. With a high concentration of marlin, the area is also known for deep-sea sport fishing.

Arizonan's affectionately call this place Arizona's Beach due it's close proximity to Phoenix. Traveling to Rocky Point, Puerto Penasco, Mexico is an easy 4 hour drive. In 2019, Rocky Point - Puerto Penasco will soon have it's first cruise ship arrive in the newly constructed Puerto Penasco cruise ship port. We are long time visitors to Rocky Point, Mexico and have spent many years enjoying the 6 things highlighted in this video. All come highly recommended. Don't let the media hype scare you away from traveling to Mexico! Puerto Penasco relies heavily on tourism and the people of Rocky Point have gone out of their way to make visitors feel safe!
Recreation and accommodations abound in Puerto Penasco - Rocky Point! Ocean activities, beach activities, resort and RV accommodations are plentiful. We like to stay at Playa Bonita Rv park whenever we visit Rocky Point. This used to be a quiet shrimping village that has grown significantly in the last 30 years; however, the Mexican beaches are clean, the accommodations are outstanding and the restaurants and bars are dishing out fun and enjoyment. Puerto Penasco's water is a turquoise blue and the beaches are a light, soft colored sand. You can find vendors selling everything from Mexican Pina Colada's to Blankets on the beach. If you're hungry, just wait, someone selling authentic Mexican empanadas or burritos will be by to satisfy your hunger. This one of the nicest and cleanest Mexican Beaches around.
We've been coming to Rocky Point - Puerto Penasco for over 40 years and have seen the growth take place in this sleepy village. Most of all, we've seen how accommodating and welcoming the Mexican citizens of Puerto Penasco have been to all visitors. We are full time RV'ers and made this our first stop on our full time RV journey. The best times to visit Rocky Point are May and October, but the rest of the year is good too. It's a true gem and one of Mexico's best kept secrets! We hope you'll enjoy coming to Puerto Penasco, Rocky Point, Mexico as much as we do and we look forward to the first cruise ship to arrive in Rocky Point.

Beaches In Rocky Point Mexico (Puerto Penasco Sonora Mexico)
Looking for beaches in Rocky Point Mexico for your vacation? Check out this short video. We are from Arizona and love Rocky Point so much, we decided to create Visit Rocky Point Mexi.co to answer a ton of questions we get from friends and families. Plus, with so many folks from Cali coming, you all may want to drive four hours or so to Mexico instead of San Diego.

Sandy Beach
This is the big one. Most of the larger resorts, like The Sonoran Sun, Bella Sirena, or Princesa de Penasco, are situated along Sandy Beach. Running in a straight line from east to west, Sandy Beach gently slopes into the Sea of Cortez. Staying nicely shallow, this beach lets you forget about swimming on calm days (which is most of the time). Since it’s the center of tourist activity, you will find a parade of vendors offering silver jewelry, hair braiding, ice pops, fresh mangoes dusted with chile and lime, and more, especially on weekends. There are also horses available for a romantic sunset ride.
Out in the shallow waters, jet ski rentals and banana boats are waiting. Overhead, you may hear the buzz of ultralight aircraft. These planes wait by the road to Wrecked at the Reef, ready to take you for an unforgettable ride above the Puerto Penasco beaches.
Playa Hermosa
Sandy Beach turns into Playa Hermosa Beach at the Sonoran Sky Resort. The beach makes a gentle curve as it reaches the rocks along Hotel Penasco del Sol. Similar to Sandy Beach, Playa Hermosa has easy public access from the top of Calle 13. The Playa Bonita Resort hosts an annual Hobie Cat Regatta here in October. Seeing the colorful sailboats offshore makes this one of the most beautiful events on any of the Rocky Point beaches.
Las Conchas
Las Conchas is on the east side of Whale Hill. It begins at the base of the hill as Playa Mirador, named for the local neighborhood there. Mi Playa is a section of the beach set aside for easy public access, and it is located here. There are barbecues and palapas here. After Mi Playa, the beach passes in front of the Las Conchas area of single-family houses. This is a five-mile section of a very nice beach, with stretches of sand as well as rocky reefs that are uncovered at low tide. These are great to explore with kids for crabs, baby shrimp, and octopus as well as shells and sand dollars. There are a number of places to easily access this beach. Sea Side Reservations offers furnished rental homes in Las Conchas. Click to make a reservation.
Playa Encanta
Las Conchas Beach ends at the mouth of a large estuary. On the other side begins Playa Encanto. While Las Conchas often feels like you have the whole beach to yourself, Playa Encanto always has that private-beach feeling. Fewer houses line Playa Encanta, and it is a long drive out of town to get there, but nature-lovers and privacy-seekers will find it well worth the trip.
La Cholla
Jumping back to the very Western end of town, the little community of Cholla Bay is a great place to experience the extreme tidal swings of Rocky Point beach Mexico is famous. The waters of the bay recede at low tide, exposing clams and other sea creatures who live there. It has been said its the best place to find sea shells Just keep an eye open for when the tide creeps back!

There are five types of condos to choose from at Las Palomas, based on the number of bedrooms. There are one to five bedroom condos available. Each has been carefully created to maximize your view while providing a luxury and private enclave.
All the beachfront condos of Las Palomas are individually owned and furnished with granite countertops in its full sized kitchens. You are offered a full size laundryroom and daily maid service for your convenience. While the ground floor condo is only a few steps away from the pool, staying in the upper floor condo offers a spectacular view of the Mar of Cortez (Sea of Cortez).

House Hunting in Rocky Point Mexico - Puerto Penasco Vacation Homes, Townhomes, and Condos
In our travels to Puerto Penasco Mexico, we decided to look into purchasing a vacation home and went house hunting in Rocky Point. We had questions: What are the prices? What type of home would be best - single family, townhome, or condo? Are there any restrictions if we wanted to rent them out when we weren't in residence?

In our house hunting adventures in Rocky Point, we checked out a little of everything. Come along for the adventure!
First place we checked out was Las Conchas. We love that area. It's a large area developed in Sections. Lots of beach front property, but really any of the homes are located within a short walk to the water.
The first community we stopped at was the Residences in Las Conchas. This new build townhome community is a great find! While you're not right on the beach, you're just across the road from it. And you have rooftop views of the water. We really liked this community! In the video, we speak with Jason who gives us a lot of great information.
Next, we checked out the Bella Vista Townhomes. Located in the Sandy Beach area, these townhomes were the same developer as the Residences in Las Conchas. The location was closer to the action in town and a short drive from Sandy Beach.
After that, we went and checked out homes in the Cholla Bay area in Rocky Point. Cholla Bay is one of the original areas for people looking to own a vacation home. It's got a few great restaurants (JJ's Cantina being one of them!). We stopped when we saw a house named the Casa De Booger-Picker for sale! Here's the information on that home:
Finally, we love the idea of having a condo as a vacation home in a place like Las Palomas. This is where we stayed on this trip, and we think the community has a lot to offer. We did an entire video on Las Palomas, and you can find that here:
