4 Best Hikes in the Pyrenees ???????? ???????? France & Spain Road Trip
Hiking in the Pyrenees mountains. We spent 4 days in a road trip traveling and hiking in the High Pyrenees (Hautes-Pyrenees or Altos Pirineos) of France and Spain—in rough November weather. As it was our first time visit there, we wanted to get a diverse list of trails, so this video features our final selection of the 4 best day hikes. Two of them are on the French side, the other two—on the Spanish side. These hiking trails best showcase the wild and naked nature of the Pyrenees.
The first one lies in France, and it's a hike to the lake of lakes in the Pyrenees–Lac de Gaube (8 km loop with 400m elevation gain). Then, a visit to the majestic waterfall at Cirque de Gavarnie (11 km loop with almost 800m of elevation gain), which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Pyrenees Mont Perdu. On the Spanish side, Aragon, we explore a true hidden gem—the 15 km loop (almost 1000m of elevation gain) to the valley of Aguas Tuertas, the Secus mountain, and the grandiose Castillo de Acher. Last but not least, the Ordesa Valley and a hike to Faja Racon with a dizzling detour to the Tozal del Mallo (15 km with 1400m elevation gain). This video includes also some travel tips and where to park your car at the trailheads.

Tiny Tour | Prades Spain | Visit the Red Town in the Prades Mountains 2020 July
Prades is a Spanish municipality in the Catalan region of Bajo Campo , Tarragona . According to data from 2017, its population was 599 inhabitants. It is also known as Vila Vermella (red town) because of the reddish sandstone that characterizes part of its buildings and is geographically located in the Prades Mountains.
It is believed that the Arabs built a castle here, fortified in 1090 to prevent the advance of Ramón Berenguer III's troops. It was granted a population charter in 1159 by Ramón Berenguer IV. In 1200 it already had its own market, which shows the importance of the municipality.
The parish church is dedicated to Santa María, in a Gothic style with a single nave and a Renaissance façade. In front of one of the side doors is an old 13th century cross. About two kilometers from the center of town there is a hermitage dedicated to the Virgen de l'Abellera. The building dates from 1570 and in 1578 the bell tower was added. It was completely renovated in the 18th century .
The main source of income for Prades is mountain tourism. The population has various facilities that facilitate recreational activities.

Scenic place to camp on Tour du Canigou trail in Pyrenees-Orientales, France |Day 3 to Refuge Batere
It was our third day of Tour du Canigou trail in Eastern-Pyrenees, France when we hiked 17kms from Refuge Pinatell to the Refuge Batere and further down the trail.
For that day we planned to make 15-17kms more down the trail. It was our norm for the day because we have divided the whole trail in 5 days. Studying the map it didn’t seem to have much elevation difference, we had to do only 700m up and down overall, so we knew it won’t be very challenging day and hoped to enjoy the relaxed pace.
The morning was beautiful and bright with the clear sky and warm sun that was very long expected and needed after having a cold night. All the first part of the trail was going nicely in the forest shade and on a relatively flat terrain. We did hope that it will continue the same way through the day as we needed chilled out day badly. Our legs and knees were still feeling it after the day before extreme ascension to the peak du Canigou. So we greatly enjoyed the peaceful forest paths and the marking was very good as we continued to follow the GR10 white and red sign. The temperature difference of the night and day was quite drastic and closer to the middle of the day we were quite hot with at least 25 degrees Celsius. The trail itself helped us to feel refreshed all day long as it was following the shaded forest paths. Here and there we could still enjoy the seacoast views of the Rousillon region and it was very nice..

Gorges de Galamus, Balcony Road D7/D10, Pyrénées-Orientales, Occitania, France - by motorcycle
The mountain range through which the Gorges de Galamus passes forms the border between the departments of Pyrénées-Orientales in the south and Aude in the north. The road starts at Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet, goes north as the D7 and ends as the D10 at the village of Cubiéres-sur-Cinoble. Particularly interesting is a section of this balcony road, about 5 km long, which leads from the lower car park in the south to the Moulin de Cubiéres. This takes you through the particularly high and particularly steep section of the gorge carved out of the rock by the River Agly. A low wall, sometimes only a simple metal fence, separates you from the abyss. The road is very narrow and winds around some very confusing rocky corners. Oncoming cars have to back up to the next passing place; motorbikes have it only a little easier. Also, sometimes very strong winds should be expected in the gorge. If you are careful, however, the road is generally easy to drive on. However, you should not let your concentration be disturbed by looking into the abyss.
The river Agly has also carved some caves in the gorge, which were inhabited by hermits from around the 8th century AD. The most famous, developed cave is the Ermitage Saint-Antoine de Galamus. The Ermitage is well preserved because it was used until about 1950 and can be reached by a short footpath. The Ermitage is located at the southern entrance to the gorge.
The gorge lies on the northern border of the department of Pyrénées-Orientales with the department of Aude and there in the Occitanie region.
This route belongs to the so-called French Balcony Roads.
