Santa Cruz de la Sierra es la ciudad y municipio más poblado de Bolivia, capital del Departamento de Santa Cruz. Está situada en la parte oriental del país, sobre la llanura tropical, a orillas del río Piraí.
La ciudad es el centro más importante de la Región Metropolitana Santa Cruz de la Sierra, que es actualmente el núcleo urbano más poblado de Bolivia,3 con una población estimada de 2,3 millones de habitantes en el 2020. Esta área metropolitana está formada por una conurbación de siete municipios en el departamento: Santa Cruz de la Sierra, La Guardia, Warnes, Cotoca, El Torno, Porongo y Montero.
Fundada el 26 de febrero de 1561 por el capitán español Ñuflo de Chaves, la ciudad sufrió varios cambios de ubicación. En el siglo XVII, la zona se convierte en centro de expediciones misioneras evangelizadoras. El 24 de septiembre de 1810 se da su primer grito libertario contra el dominio español. A inicios de siglo XX, en el sur, se desata la guerra por el territorio del Chaco. Desde los años 1950, debido a la integración física con el resto del país, la ciudad experimenta un fuerte crecimiento demográfico. Actualmente está considerada como centro económico de Bolivia, destacando la industria agropecuaria, forestal, minera y de hidrocarburos.

Among the most prominent parks are: Amboro National Park is one of 10 parks in greater biodiversity. Noel Kempff Mercado Park is a Natural Heritage of Humanity, uy rich in flora and fauna.
Bolivian Pantanal region is a very broad area that flooded Bolivia and Paraguay Brsil shares which are made river walks and photographic Safari.
In this area we also Robore Chiquitano Southeast, Chochis, lowing and Tucavaca The Valley as part of a Nature Tourism and Health.

Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia
Santa Cruz, the largest state in Bolivia, covers most of the Eastern region of the country. It's total of 364,000 Km2 are equivalent to 36.4 million hectares of territory. It borders Brazil and the Bolivian states of Beni, Cochabamba, and Chuquisaca. Its capital city, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, is the most populated and fastest growing city in Bolivia and the 14th fastest growing city in the world.
was founded on February 26 in the year 1561, though not at its present location. Spanish Captain Ñuflo de Chavez named it in honor of his native village of Extremadura in Southern Spain. He came from Asuncion, now the capital of Paraguay, by the orders of Domingo Martinez de Irala, the governor of Asuncion, with several other people from Spain, and by the year 1586, the original town was inhabited by several thousands of indigenous people in various locations. All of them were scattered under the system encomienda system. The location was moved several times from the Chiquitania region (Eastern portion of the state of Santa Cruz) and finally to the nearby location near the Pirai River where it is located today.

Carnival (carnival in Spanish) begins on different dates each year, but that's because it is timed to end on Fat Tuesday (known as Mardi Gras and in Spanish as Martes Gordo). This is exactly 40 days prior to Easter, on the day Lent begins.
This holiday dates back to times before the Roman Empire, and is believed to have begun with similar Greek festivals to the gods and two Egyptian festivals to celebrate Apis and Isis! Many also believe that the use of masks during Carnaval comes from these pagan festivities.
Carnaval is celebrated in many countries around the world and in Bolivia too. But Carnaval traditions have been adapted and changed to suit local customs. That's why even within Bolivia it is celebrated in many different ways in different regions.
In Eastern Bolivia Carnaval is completely different! Here Carnaval is similar to what you would see in Rio de Janeiro, although by no means anywhere as large. The best known Carnaval celebration in Eastern Bolivia is the Carnaval of Santa Cruz.
