Pornic one of the liveliest and vibrant towns along the Jade coast in the western Loire-Atlantique of France. The centre of town is set around its old harbour where fishing boats, antique and classic traditional sailing boats moor. The port is the heart of Pornic. When strolling along the quays, you will come upon the most beautiful antique wooden sail boats, kept to perfection. Their pristine condition showcases their owner’s pride. These boats add that extra bit of charm to the naturally beautiful harbour of Pornic.

From the 17th century onward, Pornic was one of the most important cod fishing ports.
Strolling through town introduces new culinary delights as there are a variety of restaurants, cafés, and terraces along the way. La Fraiseraie is a local spot known for its fresh strawberries, ice cream and other tempting goodies like jams and fruit jellies.
The Chateau de Pornic anchors one end of the port. It dates from the 13th century but was significantly updated in the 19th. Walk along the seaside path that surrounds the castle.
There are multiple walkways and stairs leading to the upper town. This upper section provides plenty of shopping opportunities. The quaint boutiques range in merchandise from clothing to specialty kitchen products - art to confectionary. This seaside town packs an excellent retail punch. You will also find the Faiencerie de Pornic where they handcraft ceramic tableware. The designs are made by local artists. Many visitors make a trip to get their personalized ‘bol Breton’. A tradition carried on from the 18th century.
Wandering her cobblestoned streets is the best way to get Pornic to reveal her beauty, secrets, and marine zest for life. In 1892, Pierre-Auguste Renoir stayed in Pornic and created 4 famous paintings two of which are: “Voile Blanche” and Plage de Pornic.
This coastal gem is also a destination for culinary experiences. Pornic is no stranger to cuisine; from epicurean to traditional to fresh sea food. The chefs are people who are passionate about food and enjoy experimenting with the regional flavours. Rethinking local ingredients is their secret to creating incredibly unique dishes, we were thrilled with the delicious results. Unless you are fully vaccinated and able to prove it, you cannot access indoor or outdoor dining. Make a point to sample the local craft beers. We tried Brigantine, a 100% pure malt beer, brewed locally, using traditional Belgian manufacturing methods.
Sipping a cold brigantine at a portside patio while watching the action in the port is a treat not to be missed!
Whether at high or low tide, Pornic always offers a distinctive look and feel, it is never the same.
Need some exercise and fresh ocean air? Enjoy one of the exceptional customs officers’ trails, which start on the harbour side opposite the chateau. This invigorating walk shows off some of Pornic’s beautiful coastal vistas. It was originally built for French customs officers who were on the lookout for smugglers and in charge of gathering the salt tax or ‘la Gabelle’ (a consumption tax on salt) .
Discover small sandy coves surrounded by cliffs and rocks. Need a swim? Take the steps leading to the beach of your choice. You will find your jewel among twelve exceptional tiny beaches. Luxury seaside villas still stand in all their splendour, reminiscent of Pornic’s prestigious past. These beautiful 19th century residences are still owned by families who enjoy coming for long weekends and summer vacations.
Walking the coast, you will see ‘les carrelets” or fishing huts on stilts. Prior to 1900, they were temporary structures- built to be quickly dismantled and removed. Today, with footbridges they are permanent and easily accessible at high tide. There are about fifty fishing huts along the Jade Coast. They are all privately owned and not open to the public. Some are available to rent. If you enjoy fishing, experience square net fishing, a technique that is typical of the Jade Coast. The square nets enable catches of smelt, sole and sea bass.
A microclimate, it is said that Pornic has three hundred days of sun per year. Pornic is a four-season cultural and entertainment destination.

Knapp 2000 Kilometer misst die Küstenlinie der Bretagne. Auf ihrem Weg rund um die westlichste Region Frankreichs nimmt sie jede Bucht, jeden Strand und jeden Hafen mit. Einmal die komplette Küste entlang reisen, war schon immer mein großer Traum. Da ich kein halbes Jahr Zeit für eine Wanderung auf dem GR34 – dem Küstenwanderweg – habe, nehme ich einen Mietwagen und fahre die versteckten Perlen der Küste ab. Immer auf der Suche nach den besten Naturhighlights.
Dieser Bretagne Roadtrip führt von Saint-Malo nach Guérande – von Nordost nach Südost, die gesamte Küste entlang. Unterwegs jagt ein Naturhighlight das nächste. Mit dem Fahrrad geht es durch Küstendörfer und verlassene Wälder, auf dem Kajak über Flüsse und zu Fuß auf einem der beeindruckendsten Wanderwege Europas entlang.
Zwischendurch geht es mal unter das Wasser beim Tauchen oder mit der Kraft des Windes beim Windsurfen übers Wasser. Diese Reise verspricht viele Aktivitäten, kleine Abenteuer und ist genau das Richtige für junge Aktivreisende.

Nantes est une commune située dans l'ouest de la France. Dans le sud du Massif Armoricain.
La ville est traversée par le fleuve 'la loire'. Elle est le chef lieu du département de la Loire Atlantique et également la préfecture de la Région des Pays de la Loire.
Il s'agit de l'une des ville les plus grandes de France. En 2019, elle était en position numéro 6 avec un peu moins de 400 000 habitants.
Elle a une histoire très importante liée à la Bretagne et à la Vendée (nottamment pendant la guerre de vendée). C'était un enjeu essentiel de cette guerre. Bien qu'après ce moment difficile elle ai connu une belle prospérité.
Les grandes villes qui entourent Nantes sont Saint-Nazaire, Anger, Orvault, Carquefou, Sautron, Rezé, la Roche-sur-Yon
Il y a également de belle station Balnéaires sur la côte atlantique dont : Pornic, le Croizic, la Baule, les Sables d'Olonne.
C'est une grande ville universitaire, et Nantes est l'une des villes préférées des Francais.
