Roseau is the capital of the Caribbean island nation of Dominica. It's on the southwest coast and known for its 18th-century Creole architecture. Its cobblestone Old Market, formerly a slave auction site, sells crafts and fruit.
It’s next to the Dominica Museum, with exhibits on the country’s natural and cultural history. The Dominica Botanic Gardens showcase tropical flora and native Sisserou parrots.

Indian River Tour in Dominica
While in Dominica, our guest host SocaDread takes a ride down the Indian River, The Indian River got its name because Kalinago (Carib Indian) lived along its banks and used it as an access route to the Caribbean Sea. The river was important to their livelihood as they used it to transport goods for trade with sailors and along the island chain. With its coastal wetland dominated by the spectacular buttressed Bwa Mang trees, the Indian River is among the most picturesque of Dominica’s 365 rivers.
We travelled with Denroy Clarke from Triple D Tours in his hand-oared riverboats where he showed us various types of wildlife and plant life along the swampy river bank.
Did you know that several scenes from the blockbuster film series Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed here? And when you finished you have to go to the Bush Bar and try the signature rum drink and some great Dominican/Creole cuisine.
Dominica At Night - exploration in 4K
Another short film from my series showing Dominica Nature, this time mostly at night or sunset. Animals that are more active at night, flowers that open after sunset, and the nature and landscape we see mostly during day time.
Same as my whole DOMINICA series of leisurely videos illustrated only with music - is dedicated to all in self-isolation, having hard time coping with current global situation, overworked, stressed due to all related personal matters. Down the coast is Champagne Reef, a snorkeling destination where gas bubbles emerge from the shallow sea floor. Nearby is Soufriere village, in a volcanic crater bay with hot springs on its pebbly beach and coral-covered underwater cliffs offshore. Inland is Wotten Waven, a mountain village with thermal baths among tree ferns. Cabrits National Park, in the north, is home to Fort Shirley, once manned by 18th-century British colonialists. Untouched Caribbean Island. Can't Believe This Exists ???? Explore Dominica in the Caribbean ????????
In this video we spend a few days exploring the untouched and not overly well known Caribbean island of Dominica! Dominica is known as the nature island, with lots of waterfalls and rivers (365, one for every day of the year!).
We start things off with a quick tour of our hotel, where we are staying in the penthouse. This hotel is an adventure hotel and a great place to stay if you’re looking to plan lots of fun adventures around the island during your stay. You can find more about it here:
After setting off from the hotel to explore the island, and getting over a bit of motion sickness (the roads are very windy and even those that aren’t use to motion sickness can be affected, some prepared), we stop at the Emerald Pool. It’s about a 10 minute easy hike to get there and once you arrive you’ll encounter a lovely waterfall where you can also swim. This is definitely the place where we encountered more tourists than anywhere else!
Next up we had the most beautiful canoe ride through Indian River (a scene from Pirate’s of the Caribbean was filmed here), where we encountered loads of different types of birds, crabs and wildlife. Unfortunately it got dark very quickly and we had to stop filming.
We picked things up the next day at Morne Bruce where we had a great view overlooking the main city in Dominica, Roseau. We also make a stop at the botanical gardens to see a bus that was flattened by a tree many years ago in a hurricane and is now referred to as David and Goliath. We then spend a little bit of time exploring Roseau.
Later we make our way to a lake high up in the mountains, called Freshwater Lake where we fly the drone to get a better view.
Lastly we head to Trafalgar water falls to view the two side by side waterfalls affectionally known and mama and papa.

Wavine Cyrique, Dominica - unique spot in the Caribbean.
A short trip to check out one of most picturesque but very challenging spots in Dominica. It was our first time after hurricane Maria. Trail is being restored, but so far the most difficult section is still in need of serious work. Hopefully soon we will be able to revisit and say - it is ready for the tourist season! Because, really it is just beautiful and unusual, the only Caribbean waterfall falling directly onto a beach, I am told. If you like Caribbean tropics, hiking and adventure - this trip is for you. But - it is only for the best, be warned. Enjoy!
Update - January 2019. I hear that trail is restored, with new rope ladders on the cliff. So, it is a better access now. But by no means easy. Think before going/ it is a great, but challenging hike.

Morne Bruce Garrison (Breathtaking View Point) – Discover Dominica
Morne Bruce Garrison is a wooded mountain with sweeping panoramic views at its higher elevations. It has a great view point overlooking the cruise ships harbour as well as the city of Roseau, capital of Dominica. Spotted a double rainbow over the city of Roseau.
