Plumas County - Seven Lakes Hike
This hike loops through the heart of the Lakes Basin Recreation Area. Glacier carved mountains frame sparkling, deep blue lakes. Each lake is unique. Climb to lake & mountain vistas. Mt. Elwell looms to the north of Long Lake. The hike across the steep slope on a narrow rocky trail will get your heart racing. You’ll be reluctant to leave this wondrous realm of seven rarefied lakes.
Goose Lake Campground - Plumas National Forest, CA
Goose Lake Campground has 10 (first-come, first-serve) campsites and is located adjacent to the lake at an elevation of about 6,700 feet. Many campsites have views of the water and the scenic mountains in the area.
Campsites are all walk-to (about 50-150 yards) with parking along the road/highway. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill. Up to 8 people are allowed in each site.
Bucks Lake
Bucks Lake (also, Bucks Lodge) is a census-designated place in Plumas County, California, United States. Bucks Lake is located on the south shore of the lake of the same name, 13 miles west-southwest of Quincy. The population was 22 at the 2020 census up from 10 at the 2010 census.
The area was first established as a ranch by Horace Bucklin and Francis Walker in 1850. A hotel and a post office were later built on the site. In 1928, Bucks Storage Dam was built on Bucks Creek, a tributary of the Feather River, creating the Bucks Lake reservoir, inundating the original site of the town.
The Bucks Lake post office operated from 1940 to 1942.
Bucks Lake is now registered as California Historical Landmark #197
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 10.4 square miles, of which, 10.3 square miles of it is land and 0.08% is water.
