Concarneau [kɔ̃.kaʁ.no] est une commune du département du Finistère dans la région Bretagne en France.
Troisième commune du Finistère par sa population, chef-lieu d'un canton et d'une communauté d'agglomération, Concarneau, qui inclut les anciennes communes de Beuzec-Conq et Lanriec, est une ville située sur la côte cornouaillaise dans la baie de La Forêt.
La ville s'est constituée au Moyen Âge à partir de la ville close située dans l'estuaire du Moros. Cet abri naturel a permis le développement du septième port de pêche français en tonnage débarqué et d'importants chantiers navals.
Sa situation sur le littoral et son patrimoine historique en font aujourd'hui une destination touristique bretonne de premier plan.

Horror-Überfahrt: Nachdem Befestigungsseile plötzlich reißen, steuert Fähre in Sturm

Die Passagiere dieser Fähre mussten vor der italienischen Küste eine fünfstündige Horror-Überfahrt über sich ergehen lassen. Zuvor waren die Befestigungsseile des Schiffs gerissen. Die Fähre steuerte daraufhin in einen Sturm.
Diese Überfahrt werden die Passagiere wohl nie vergessen: Am Freitag machte sich eine rund 70 Meter lange Fähre der Schifffahrtsgesellschaft Laziomar auf den Weg von der beliebten italienischen Ferieninsel Ponza in Richtung Festland.
Doch der Kapitän des Schiffs wollte wegen des schlechten Wetters eigentlich gar nicht ablegen. Dann das Unglück: Die hinteren Befestigungsseile der Fähre reißen – dem Kapitän bleibt nichts anderes übrig, als die Fähre in die stürmische See zu steuern. Denn im Hafen hätte eine Kollision gedroht. Das sagte der Kapitän gegenüber lokalen Medien.
Es kommt zur Horror-Überfahrt, die ganze fünf Stunden dauert. Normalerweise ist die Überfahrt in rund einer Stunde erledigt. Beobachter sprechen von Wellen, die bis zu acht Metern Höhe erreicht und der Fähre ordentlich zugesetzt haben sollen. Auch das Deck wurde überschwemmt, wie Handyaufnahmen zeigen. Doch am Ende kamen das Schiff und die etwa 120 Passagiere sicher in Formia südlich von Rom an. Laut dem Kapitän wurde niemand verletzt.

Bike touring and camping in Bretagne | France
Spending some days this summer on a bike tour and overnight camp along the coast of France. What better way to really experience the cold charms of Bretagne's dramatic landscape than to spend a few days cycling and camping along the coast?
Marc and I grabbed his parents' bikes, attached our camping gear and kicked off on our outing. It was a two-day adventure spent at the beach, cooking up some delicious camp food and staying out to catch the sunset. It was my first time on a bicycle tour. Looking forward to many more!

Lighthouses & menhirs in Bretagne / Brittany - Cycling in France
There is nowhere you can find as many lighthouses in a small area as in Bretagne / Brittany in France. I cycle the V5-route, a bike route that follows the coast. Every day you'll get a glimps of the Atlantic Ocean. There is loads of history, during the cycling route you'll see menhirs, churches and villages built in between huge rocks. The Bretons have their own Celtic language, which is connect to Welsh.
We visit Brignogan-Plages, Phare de Pontusval, Meneham, Plouguerneau, where you find the highest lighthouse made of stone, on l'Île Vierge, Landéda, Presqu'Île Saint-Laurent and Le Conquet.

Concarneau, Bretagne, France
Concarneau ist eine französische Gemeinde im Arrondissement Quimper und im Département Finistère. Die 22 km südöstlich von Quimper an der Ostküste der Baie de La Forêt befindliche Stadt gehört zur historischen Landschaft Cornouaille und hat etwa 20.000 Einwohner. Ihre innerhalb massiver Mauern gelegene Altstadt, die Ville close, ist fast rundum vom Wasser umgeben. Der Ort des heutigen Concarneau wurde im 10. Jahrhundert zunächst von Mönchen der Abtei Landévennec besiedelt. Diese errichteten hier auf einer Insel an der Mündung des Flusses Moros ein kleines Kloster. Später entwickelte sich Concarneau zu einer wichtigen bretonischen Festung. Seit dem 12. Jahrhundert ist die Ville Close über eine Brücke mit dem Festland verbunden.
