Travel in France: Ploërmel - The Best of Brittany? Is it Worth a Visit? It's Outdoor Market is WOW!
Looking for top travel tips? Is Ploërmel, France one of the best places in Brittany to visit?? It may not be the most common place to vacation - some French people might even say, You're going WHERE?? - but this Breton town has a lot more to offer than meets the eye. And it makes an excellent home base from which to explore the region. Whether you are staying for a short visit or a long one. And yes - you can see a lot even without a car.
Ploërmel has one of the best weekly outdoor farmer's markets I've ever been to. So plan a stay that includes a kitchen. You are going to want to cook for sure. It's a foodie's paradise! There are several boulangeries/patisseries (bakeries/pastry shops), several BIG supermarkets and many great places to eat out (even aside from Kebab Chez Tonton 56 ????) but that Friday market will make your little eyes go WOW I guarantee you.
If you like the outdoors, Ploërmel has one of the biggest lakes in Brittany and thus lots of watersports to enjoy as well as miles of phenomenal bike and walking trails and places to hike around. There are great museums, a bowling alley, a movie theater, local soccer/football games and great sites, towns and villages close by to explore.
I spent a month in Ploërmel and wrote a blog post about it for my website, Reganland.com. I wanted to see what it would be like to put together a video version of that post so I used it as a voice-over script and then assembled photos, video and web page content to create the video.
I won't be doing that again. ????
It was fun - a lot of work, but fun - however, based on what I learned through that process - next time, I'll use a different process! If I'd taken more photos and videos, that would have helped, but next time my whole approach will be different.
In any case - I hope you enjoy the video and even more so, I hope you make it out to Ploërmel sometime if you've not already been.

Our journey along the Brittany coast continues, as we stop at our next campsite, camping 'DES ABERS'. A site with direct access to the beach, and the Sainte Marguerite peninsula. There's some fabulous walking to be had to the many coastal islands accesible at low tide, not to mention the spectacular wind surfers in the local bay!! It's also where I celebrate my birthday!!

Os dejo las áreas y parquings en los que paramos a comer o dormir, antes de llegar a Malestroit.
1 Área de Jaca C/ de los danzantes de Santa Orosia.
2 Bahía de Arcachon en el parquing del parque ornitológico de Le Teich.
3 Para ver la duna sin pagar el parquing, buen sitio a 10 minutos andando de la duna : Route de Arcachon a Biscarrose en La Teste de Buch.
4 Para ver La Rochelle, parquing gratuito a 20 minutos del centro: 10 Rue de la Trinquette.
5 Ille de Re : Cruzar el puente cuesta 10 euros, nosotros dejamos la furgo en el parquing gratuito del puente, desde allí salen navettes que cruzan el puente por 1€ por persona ida y vuelta.
Una vez en la isla, en verano, hay navettes que llevan de pueblo a pueblo, totalmente gratuitas.
En la oficina de turismo os darán información de los horarios.
6 Roquefort en Terre, hay parquings gratuitos alejados, pero nosotros optamos por quedarnos en el parquing del centro 5€ 24 horas.
7 Malestroit área de autocaravanas muy grande, gratuita y en un sitio precioso, está a la entrada del pueblo, justo detrás del canal.
Si vais a viajar en furgo o autocaravana y queréis información adicional, como donde ducharnos, donde poner gasolina, que comer....
