Tourism in Kumarakom largely revolves -around the backwaters of the Vembanad Lake. Several luxury and budget resorts lined up on the shores of the lake provide tourists with facilities for boating, yachting and fishing, with panoramic views of the lake. The other major attraction is the Bird Sanctuary, which is open from 6 am to 6 pm and can be visited by canoes arranged by local fishermen at the entrance to the sanctuary. A two-hour rowing canoe trip is quite cheap, and is best undertaken in the evening or early morning to avoid the afternoon sun.
Furthermore, the Aruvikkuzhi Waterfall and its surrounding rubber plantation are a photographer's delight. There is also the Bay Island Drift Museum near the Kumarakom beach for history lovers, open from 10 am – 5 pm on Tuesdays – Saturdays and from 11.30 am – 5 pm on Sundays.

Piravom is a municipality situated in Ernakulam district in Kerala state, south India. It is 31 km South East of Ernakulam city & 40 km north of Kottayam city. മഴയങ്ങ് ആര്ത്തലച്ചു പെയ്യാൻ തുടങ്ങിയാൽ എന്റെ സാറേ.. പിറവംകാർക്ക് ഒരു രക്ഷയും കാണില്ല. എങ്ങനെ സമാധാനത്തോടെ വീട്ടിലിരിക്കാനാ...അരീക്കൽ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടം ആർത്തലച്ച് ഒഴുകി വരുമ്പോൾ ഒന്നു പോയി കണ്ടില്ലെങ്കിലെങ്ങനാ? പാറക്കെട്ടുകൾക്കിടയിലൂടെ ഒഴുകിയിറങ്ങി, കുത്തിയൊലിച്ച് കാഴ്ചയിൽ ഭീകരനായാണ് എത്തുന്നതെങ്കിലും കൊച്ചുകുട്ടികൾക്കു പോലും അർമ്മാദിക്കുവാൻ പറ്റിയ ഇടമാണിത്. എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിൽ സഞ്ചാരികൾക്ക് തീരെ അപരിചിതമായ ഈ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടം ഭംഗിയുടെ കാര്യത്തിൽ ഒരു കോംപ്രമൈസിനും തയ്യാറാകാത്ത ഇടമാണ്. തീരെ അപകട സാധ്യത കുറഞ്ഞ പിറവം അരീക്കൽ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടത്തിന്റെ വിശേഷങ്ങൾ!

70 അടിയിലേറെ മുകളിൽ നിന്നും പാറക്കെട്ടുകളിൽ തട്ടിച്ചിതറിയാണ് ഇവിടെ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടം താഴേക്കെത്തുന്നത്. ഇതിനിടയിൽ മൂന്നു തട്ടുകളിലും ഇത് പതിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. മൂന്നാമത്തെ തട്ടിന്റെ താഴെയായി നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന തടയണയുള്ള ഭാഗമാണ് സഞ്ചാരികൾക്ക് ഇറങ്ങാൻ പാകത്തിനുള്ളത്. ചില സമയങ്ങളിൽ പാറകൾക്ക് വഴുക്കലുണ്ടെങ്കിലും അപകടഭീതിയില്ലാതെ ഇവിടെ ഇറങ്ങാം. മണ്ഡലം മല,നവോലമറ്റം, പിറമാടം തുടങ്ങിയ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുമാണ് വെള്ളം ഇവിടെയെത്തുന്നത്.
