Today on Doodle the travel bug we go to Columbus, Ohio with the kids to some of our favorite free and unique spots. We made a list of our 3 best must do in Columbus.
#3 Adventure Aquarium Columbus. This is a giant aquarium store and its as good as any aquarium in any zoo. It's filled with thousands of fish and exotic marine life. It is a fun free way to spend an hour with kids in Columbus.
#2 We go to the most charming suburb of Columbus, Ohio .... Dublin, Ohio. For the Dublin Ohio Irish Fairy Door Trail. We start our Fairy Door adventure by starting in historic Dublin at the Dublin Visitors center, where we pick up our Fairy Door Passport, that points us in the right direction for the trail. We walk around the city and go to 11 different local businesses to find their resident fairy. Once you find all the doors and write down the fairy's name, you turn in your Fairy Passport and the town of Dublin will send you a FREE Tshirt.
#1 We go to The American Whistle Company and watch how whistles are made. We see it start off as coiled brass to the end and how they get that little ball inside. So this is not a completely free tour, I should mention, the virtual tour is free, but guests pay $5 for this 45 minute factory tour. However it does end with each guest receiving a brass whistle hot off the press.

I was raised in the West and became an adult in the East.
I set out on my own at 18 to see the world, bouncing around Asia and North America. Working my way through school, I never lived anywhere too long. I found my calling as a teacher and ended up staying abroad for many years. While I've had a chance to explore Europe, places I consider home are Washington DC, Seoul, Beijing, Memphis, and Columbus. After 20 years of exploring, I'm ready to share my adventures and wanderlust. The road ahead is never a straight line, but a path that zigs and zags, leading you to amazing places, people, and experiences you could never imagine. Be flexible and open minded, embracing the uncertainty of life and letting the current wisk you away........

Toledo is a city in and the county seat of Lucas County, Ohio, United States. A major Midwestern United States port city, Toledo is the fourth-most-populous city in the U.S. state of Ohio, after Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, and according to the 2020 census, the 79th-largest city in the United States. It also serves as a major trade center for the Midwest; its port is the fifth busiest in the Great Lakes and 54th biggest in the United States. The city was founded in 1833 on the west bank of the Maumee River, and originally incorporated as part of Monroe County, Michigan Territory. Named after the Italian explorer who sailed under the Spanish flag (In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue), this city is the largest in Ohio in terms of population with 787,033, and the 15th largest city in the United States—though with only 1.7 million people, the metropolitan statistical area is relatively small (the 31st largest in the nation and the 3rd of 4th largest in Ohio). Major area employers are state government (as the state capital), Ohio State University (the largest student population in the nation) and numerous Fortune 500 companies headquartered here (Cardinal Health, Nationwide Insurance, Limited Brands, etc.). It is a day's drive from one half of the U.S. population and is located at the intersection of I-70 and I-71.
