Impression Thai fine arts in Wat Pho , Bangkok , Thailand 2022 - Thailand Travel Tourism

Wat Pho (Thai: วัดโพธิ์, pronounced [wát pʰōː]), also spelled Wat Po, is a Buddhist temple complex in the Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok, Thailand. It is on Rattanakosin Island, directly south of the Grand Palace. Known also as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, its official name is Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Rajwaramahawihan (Thai: วัดพระเชตุพนวิมลมังคลารามราชวรมหาวิหาร]). The more commonly known name, Wat Pho, is a contraction of its older name, Wat Photaram (Thai: วัดโพธาราม; RTGS: Wat Photharam).

The temple is first on the list of six temples in Thailand classed as the highest grade of the first-class royal temples. It is associated with King Rama I who rebuilt the temple complex on an earlier temple site. It became his main temple and is where some of his ashes are enshrined.[7] The temple was later expanded and extensively renovated by Rama III. The temple complex houses the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand, including a 46 m long reclining Buddha. The temple is considered the earliest center for public education in Thailand. The marble illustrations and inscriptions placed in the temple for public instructions have been recognized by UNESCO in its Memory of the World Programme. It houses a school of Thai medicine and is also known as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage which is still taught and practiced at the temple.

Wat Bang Kung Temple and Military Camp - วัดบางกุ้ง Thailand

Wat Bang Kung วัดบางกุ้ง is an ancient temple in Samut Songkhram, Thailand. It was built in the Ayutthaya period. It was the site of the Battle of Bang Kung between the Konbaung Dynasty of Burma and the Thonburi Kingdom that is now Thailand.

Archaeological evidence from the Ubosot (Ordination Hall) determine it was built in the Ayutthaya period. It is covered with roots of four plants; Pho (Bodhi), Sai (Banyan), Krai, and Krang. These roots and trees help the hall to stay stable. It is also called Bot Prok Pho. There is a statue of the Buddha enshrined in the hall commonly called Luang Phot Bot Noi. Inside the hall, there is a mural of a story about the Buddha. The Fine Arts Department registered Wat Bang Kung as a national archaeological site on December 18, 1996.

During the Ayutthaya period in 1765, Burmese troops attacked Ayutthaya. Somdet Phra Chao Yu Hua Phra Thi Nang Suriyat Amarin (King of Ayutthaya) commanded the navy to encamp and build a wall around Wat Bang Kung. The temple in the middle of the camp was used as a spirit center for the soldiers. Burmese troops moved along the Maeklong river until they found Bang Kung Camp. The army of Ayutthaya could not resist the attack and the camp was destroyed.

In 1767, after King Taksin (King of Thonburi) regained the country's independence, he commanded the Chinese from Rayong, Chon Buri, Ratchaburi, and Kanchanaburi to form a guard to protect the camp and called it Bang Kung Chinese Camp.

In 1768, Burmese troops led by Burmese king of Angwa, ordered his army and navy to besiege Bang Kung Chinese camp again. Chinese troops fought and were on the brink of defeat until Taksin found out about the battle. Taksin and Maha Sura Singhanat jointly fought and defeated the Burmese. This victory is instrumental in Thailand still being an independent nation.

The temple is a unique place and popular for photographers to use as a background. It is important in Thai history and worth a short visit.

Wat Khao Chong Pran Bat Temple, Photharam, Ratchaburi, Thailand.

Wat Khao Chong Pran Bat Temple, Photharam, Ratchaburi, Thailand.

This Wat is located in a very small town but is known for the cave filled with millions of bats. The locals also refer to it as Hundred Million Bat Cave.
Every evening at about 6 pm, many locals and a select group of tourists park themselves on the Temple ground to witness what some describe as black water flowing from the mountain cave.
The continual swam of Black-bearded Tomb bats exit the cave mouth before dusk rain or shine. Their flow through the sky is like flowing black liquid lasting for over half an hour. It is a spectacle like nothing one has ever seen before.

Kkao Chon Phran Bat Cave - Deep INSIDE the LAIR of 10 Million BATS

I took a trip with @Karl's Thailand to Wat Chon Phran in Pottaram District, Ratchaburi Province, a place where people usually come to see the millions of bats fling out of the caves every evening at dusk. f you've ever seen this incredible spectacle before, then I am sure you have wondered where they come from!!? Well, you don't have to anymore as we climbed above the caves and then deep inside the lair of 100 million bats. Pun after pun filled my head - from holy corona batman, we hit the motherload, to holy crap, that's some good sh^t.
I had heard that bat scientists had been here over the last year to study the bats for traces of the 'virus that must not be named'. Did it originate here? Are bats dangerous? Let's find out!
I've got to be honest - I have been to some ridiculously creepy places around the world but this ranks up there with the best/worst. The feeling of millions of bats flying around your head is a somewhat peculiar, somewhat terrifying ans somewhat spectacular experience.
Join us as we delve DEEP into the lair of 100 million bats!!
