Dave and Debbie Turner were working at the same lodge in the bush, he as a passionate Ranger-Guide and she as a dynamic young hospitality manager. They fell for each other in one of those magical bushveld moments when the whole world feels enchanted and anything is possible. To this day, she denies that she winked at him as he claims but whatever actually happened to kick-start it, their love affair sparked a business which has been almost a decade in the making.
Bushveld Terrace Hotel on Kruger, in the heart of Phalaborwa was born from Dave and Debbie’s passion for the bush and a desire to share their experience of good, old-fashioned safari hospitality with their guests.

Yes, Season 2! A new year, a new South African adventure with the same Sling 2. This is the third episode of season 2: from Hannah Game Lodge we flew over the Blyde River Canyon and the 3rondavels (crossing the great escarpment) to Phalaborwa Airport. Phalaborwa Airport is the Gateway Airport to Kruger National Park. It's a lovely airport but a little desolated nowadays.
At Phalaborwa we stayed at La Lechere Guest House. A beautiful and tranquil guest house with dutch owners, Isabella and Jan. They prepared an excellent dinner at the guest house. The next morning, before breakfast, we were picked up at the guest house for a game drive in Kruger park. We saw elephant, zebra, giraffe, buffalo, hyena, monkeys, an owl, ... .

We traveled all the way from one side of South Africa to the other today! We spent the whole day traveling to Kruger National Park from Cape Town, South Africa to start our self guided safari adventures!
The trip required us to get up early, head to the airport in Cape Town, fly 2 hours to Johannesburg, pick up our new rental car and drive nearly 7 hours to Phalaborwa, near Kruger National Park. Since it was such a long day, we thought we would spend it playing some of our favorite Road Trip Games :)

We finish our safari adventure self-driving through Kruger National Park and staying at Olifants Rest Camp. A huge highlight for us was spotting a young leopard stalking its prey and having the whole scene to ourselves. We made our way to Honeyguide Rest Camp in the Manyeleti Private Game Reserve. It was nice to relax in a luxury tented camp where all your meals were included. We were taken on two game drives with professional spotters. We were amazed to see leopards, lions, and a massive herd of buffalo plus so much more!
