Top 5 places near Bangkok the local recommended for day trips

One great perk about Bangkok is that a couple-hour car ride takes you to completely different scenery and vibes. So even if you are time-strapped but want to explore more than the busy metropolis, Here are the top 5 places to visit in a day-trip from Bangkok.

1. Ayutthaya: Historical Park and Scenic Ancient Temples
Ayutthaya probably made it to your must-go list already. It was Thailand’s capital city for 400 years before it burnt down during the Siamese-Burmese war. Today, old-world charms make it a classic must-visit city. Here, over 60 temples and ruins still stand against the change of time. Just an hour away from Bangkok, you can explore the stunning ancient architecture, and discover lives in the golden time of Thailand.
More info:

2. Kanchanaburi: Stunning scenery and trace WWII through attractions
If you’re into both history and nature, we honestly think Kanchanaburi will be your next favorite city like it is ours. Here, you can discover another side of Thailand’s past during World War II among the scenic natural attractions and chilling atmosphere. We also love its countless crystal clear waterfalls and the abundant wilderness. The Death Railway (aka Thai-Burma Railway) is a sad but vital monument of what happens when we go to war with each other. Enjoy tracing through history at the fascinating museum and exhibition that shed light on the global war in this part of the world.
More info:

3. Nakhon Pathom: See a peaceful local life along a canal & enjoy local activities
Just a short drive from Bangkok, you can take a break from the big city to the fresh air. See a way of life in the countryside and enjoy activities like a local that you should not miss. Here, hop on a long tail boat and absorb the laid-back vibe along Mahasawat Canal and try the most authentic Thai dishes. Visit the Lotus Farm and learn how to fold the lotus leaves. Enjoy riding the tractor through the fruit farm and try the freshly made fruit juice. Just within grasp, there are endless things to be discovered at Nakhon Pathom.
More info:

4. Floating Markets & Railway Market
Thailand has a handful of iconic floating markets with an infinite variety of local treats. Damnoen Saduak floating market is one of the best, and if you haven’t already, check out Maeklong Railway Market. Vendors sit with their trade practices on the side of the railway, and pull away in a flash every time the train is arriving.
More info:

5. Khao Yai National Park: Hiking & Picnic
Even as Thais, we think Khao Yai one-day trip is an appealing idea. You can do a chill hike or animal watching in the lush and huge National Park. There are also many natural plants for you to admire, and the serene nature to make you feel relaxed, slow days and have a picnic lunch at the national park are the best.

This is the BEST day trip in Chiang Mai, Thailand!????????

Today we visited Bua Tong Waterfall, also known as Sticky Waterfall, just outside of Chiang Mai, Thailand!
We rode our scooter about an hour north through Mae Rim district, taking in the sites of northern thailand - a great road trip.
We climbed the sticky waterfall and were blown away by how weird it feels!
On the way back we stopped at a local vendor and tried some thai Fruit - including the first time we tried Guava - farang eating farang!

Exploring Northern THAILAND ???????? Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Temples, Mountains

In this Thailand Travel Vlog, we explore some places in the North of Thailand that have been on our bucket list for so long!!! Unfortunately we only have one day in Phitsanulok before taking an overnight bus to Isan. We arrived late at night, stayed in a (scary) hotel close to the train station, then in the morning we decided to rent a car and head to our bucket list temple: Wat Phra Thart Pha Sorn Kaew in Phetchabun province. We've wanted to go here since we first saw pictures of the amazing Buddha, however it was too difficult to get to on a weekend. Luckily it was an easy drive from Phitsanulok. The temple did not disappoint!!! In fact, we think it's probably one of the best temples in Thailand!
After we left the temple, we were so hungry! We had to stop by the side of the highway for some Pad Krapao. Then we wanted to knock another item off of our Northern Thailand Bucket List: the limestone mountains in Phitsanulok! We were actually really surprised at how cute and touristy this area was! It was full of places to take pictures and cute little homestays with mountain views. There is also the MOST AMAZING HIKE/MOUNTAIN CLIMB you can do actually up the mountain! (This is now our new Thailand bucket list item ????). We found a cute viewpoint area to take pictures and climb a mini mountain.
We wish we had more time to explore this area of Thailand as we had SO much fun in just one day! Hopefully we can visit again soon!

► WHO AM I?

I am a Brazilian-American journalist living in Florida. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. So I exchanged life in the newsrooms and stadiums for the daily challenge of being an independent content producer. I created this channel to share the beauties of the world... stuff that for so long I only kept to myself. Also to help people planning similar trips and to inspire more people to venture out and enjoy life!

P.S.: The funny guy who appears in the vlogs is my husband, Gordon. He is Canadian-American and he's actually camera-shy, that's why he's behind the camera most of the time ????

First Time in SUKHOTHAI Thailand Travel Vlog - ancient ruins, alms giving, trying new Thai food!

Book transportation here:
You want to go to the historical park, NOT to Sukhothai city as then you'll have to get other transportation from the Sukhothai bus station to the historical park (yes, we're speaking from experience ???? )

In this Thailand Travel Vlog we finally make it to Sukhothai - the first ancient capital of Siam! We've already been to Ayutthaya multiple times, and many people told us to visit Sukhothai as well, but we couldn't find the time to go. Eventually we decided to take an overnight bus from Bangkok on Friday night to arrive in Sukhothai early Saturday morning, spend two full days exploring, and return to Bangkok Sunday night. Even in our packed weekend, it was so much fun!!

Sukhothai was the capital of Siam from 1238-1438 AD. It was essentially the beginning of Thailand! When Sukhothai fell, it was overtaken by Ayutthaya (the 2nd capital of Siam). If you like history, Ayutthaya is also an amazing place to visit and it is easy to do as a day trip from Bangkok (check out our Ayutthaya video here:

Sukhothai Historical Park is made up of different sections. The center, north, and west sections each charge a 100 baht entrance fee. While the east and south sections are free. We stopped by so many amazing temples including Wat Mahathat, Wat Si Chum, Wat Saphan Hin, and Wat Chetuphon! We tried the famous Sukhothai noodles - twice! And we were also lucky enough to arrive right before the alms giving at Wat Traphang Thong. Overall it was an amazing weekend exploring Sukhothai!

Hello everyone and welcome to our channel :)

We are Fridtjov and Julia, a travel couple from Norway and Germany on our very first trip around the world.

Here at JJ's Journey, we upload daily vlogs to collect our travel memories and share all our ups and downs along the way with you, so that you get an honest insight into how it is to travel together as a couple.

We will also try to provide you with helpful travel tips and recommendations for places to visit 2018 that we pick up together with you on the way.

The truth is, we are just an everyday couple that fell in love with travelling. We do not know yet, what the future holds for us, where we will be in one year and for how long we can afford to travel. For now we are just grateful for every single day we have the opportunity to live the life we always have been dreaming of.

#10 Top 10 Things to Do Bangkok NOW - Visit GOLDEN mount at Sunset By Khlong Saen Saeb Canal Boat

Took the Khlong Saen Saep Canal Boat to the Golden Mount in Bangkok. I was hoping to experience some of the Loy Krathong celebrations, but unfortunately it did not work today.

The Golden Mount or Wat Saket is a man made hill which is 77 meters high. To walk up the Wat Saket you have to climb 344 stairs. I was there around sunset and had great views. It is a must see in Bangkok.

You have stunning mountain landscapes, the ocean, delicious Thai food, rural farms, tranquil caves and as ever, lots of friendly local Thai people. This Thailand province is very rural, very beautiful, and very fun to travel around by motorcycle on this tour of Southern Thailand.

I visit Kaeng Krachan Lake which is a stunning reservoir lake in the province. There are amazing views over the rolling mountains and little islands. I then visit a little fishing village on the coast and stop in a market. Later I head to Tham Khao Luang, a beautiful mountain cave temple in the city of Phetchaburi which King Rama IV of Thailand helped build.

Are you ready for a Breathtaking Adventure in Phetchaburi Province Thailand?

First Time in Pai Thailand Travel Vlog - Bamboo Bridge, Pai Canyon, Two Huts, White Buddha, Tubing

In this Thailand Travel Vlog, we head to Pai for the first time ever!! We were amazed by how cute this little mountain town was...and also by how many foreigners were there!! If you missed our last video, you can watch our full video on Tipsy Tubing in Pai here:
We headed to Pai directly from Bangkok by taking an overnight bus from Bangkok to Chiang Mai then changing over to a van to get from Chiang Mai to Pai. While Pai is close to Chiang Mai, it is actually part of Mae Hong Son, Thailand. We were a little worried about how Pai would be during burning season, but luckily we arrived to rain which helped clear the air up! We were cold and wet so we decided to go to the Pai hot springs as soon as we arrived...which did not go as planned. We had to change our plans quickly and ended up visiting the Pai Memorial Bridge, followed by the Kho Ku So Bamboo Bridge, and the famous Pai Canyon. We ended the night having an amazing dinner at The Blue Ox - the best restaurant in Pai which just happened the be at our hotel, Pai Village Boutique Resort! The following day we went to see the white Buddha in Pai before we got ready for Tipsy Tubing. After Tipsy Tubing we were still able to see the sunset at the Two Huts sunset spot in Pai. While we didn't end up actually making it to the Pai hot springs, we had the most amazing time in this little town!
