L’île de Ré est une île française située dans le golfe de Gascogne, au large des côtes aunisiennes.
Faisant partie de l'archipel charentais, elle est la quatrième plus grande île de France métropolitaine, derrière la Corse, l'île d'Oléron et Belle-Île. Autrefois partie intégrante de la province d'Aunis, elle est désormais rattachée au département de la Charente-Maritime et à la région Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Depuis le mois de mars 2015, elle forme un unique canton : le canton de l'Île de Ré.
Le centre historique de l'île est Saint-Martin-de-Ré, qui forme avec la commune voisine de La Flotte l'unité urbaine de La Flotte d'une population de 5 302 habitants en 2013. La commune la plus peuplée est cependant Sainte-Marie-de-Ré (3 363 habitants).
L'île de Ré est séparée du continent par le pertuis Breton et se situe au nord des îles d'Aix, d'Oléron, de Madame et de Nôle, et des forts Boyard, d'Énet et de Louvois situé dans le pertuis d'Antioche au sud. Depuis le 19 mai 1988, elle est reliée au continent par le pont de l'île de Ré. Touristique, l'île est surnommée « Ré la blanche » en raison de la teinte caractéristique de ses maisons traditionnelles.

Samedi 6 juin 2015, la guide de patrimoine Françoise Genoulaz a fait la visite guidée de Beaumont de Pertuis dans le cadre de la dernière journée des Clés du Lub’ 2015 organisée par l’Office de tourisme Luberon Durance.
Il y avait une trentaine de participants présents dès 9h30 face à la mairie du village. Françoise, comme à son habitude, révèle au groupe de nombreuses anecdotes historiques sur le territoire du Luberon Côté Sud et sur Beaumont.
C’est en déambulant dans les rues du village que l’on se rend compte de la beauté du lieu : fontaines, places ombragées, église, chapelle, promontoire, lavoir… sont magnifiquement bien entretenus.
Nous retiendrons de cette visite le récit tragique du tremblement de terre de 1812 qui a cruellement touché les habitants. Des fissures sont toujours visibles… Aussi, nous nous rappellerons de la visite de la Chapelle romane Notre Dame de Beauvoir exceptionnellement ouverte pour l’occasion. En 2008, lors d'un chantier de restauration, une fresque d'une dimension avoisinant les 60 m² est découverte. Elle représente la vie de Jésus et serait la plus ancienne connue en Provence. On attend les travaux de restauration...

Fort Énet is a fortification in the Pertuis d'Antioche in Charente-Maritime, France. It is located on the Pointe de la Fumée, the roadway extending from the city of Fouras, between Fouras and Île-d'Aix, and can be accessed from there at low tide. There is 1.6 km walk. ONLY AT LOW TIDE!
Fort Énet formed a line of fortification with Fort Boyard and Fort de la Rade on Île-d'Aix, designed to protect the arsenal of Rochefort from Royal Navy incursions. The building of the fort was started in 1810 by Napoleon I, following the devastating 1809 Battle of the Basque Roads.
In the Napoleonic Wars between the British and the French, The Battle of Aix Roads, otherwise known as the Battle of the Basque Roads was a significant Naval Battle that took place in April 1809. The French Atlantic Fleet was fighting a losing battle against the Royal Navy in trying to defend the entryway to the Charente river and the Naval Dockyard of Rochefort. The French Atlantic Fleet of 15 warships were severely outnumbered by the 34 small yet powerful Royal Navy warships. The shallow and narrow coastal water in which the battle was fought, the sailors of the French Fleet panicked and their ships were grounded.
Lord Cochrane who personally led a fleet of fire ships and bomb vessels into the Basque Roads, deliberately released burning ships on the French fleet in the roadstead of the Aix Island. Needless to say, the French lost the battle, but they learnt their lesson.
Following the disastrous loss, Napoleon 1st ordered to build the Fort Énet on the Énet islet. The construction started in 1810, and after two years once it was completed, the French Army occupied it and protected the Basque Roadstead and also served as a prison.
The tide in these parts is quite dangerous so you can only adventurous visit Fort Énet during low tide. You must make sure to check the tide before your adventurous visit the Spectacular Fort. It is a 1.6km walk on a rocky footpath between the La Pointe-de-la-Fumée Oyster park which would take about 30mins. Once you reach the Fort you will most definitely enjoy the magnificent view of the Pertuis Charentais and the Fort Boyard in the distance.
Fort Enet is listed as a Monument Historique. It is indexed in the Base Mérimée, a database of the French architectural patrimony maintained by the French Ministry of Culture.

Perched on a rock in the southern part of the Luberon, La Tour d'Aigues is a pleasant village which will enchant you with its exceptional natural setting , its vines as far as the eye can see and its remarkably preserved and restored heritage.
A must-see in the Pays d'Aigues , the village is a small town that brings together many small shops, a colorful weekly market, and even a college. Since November 2020, the village has been awarded, along with 12 Vaucluse municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants, the “small towns of tomorrow” label by the Ministry of the City.
Take the time to stroll through its typically Provençal streets and contemplate the superb view from the terrace of its quaint castle.
