Langkat Sultanate State

The Langkat Sultanate is a kingdom that used to rule in the Langkat Regency, North Sumatra now. The Langkat Sultanate became prosperous because of the opening of rubber plantations and the discovery of oil reserves in Pangkalan Brandan.
The Langkat Sultanate is the oldest of the Malay monarchies in East Sumatra.
In 1568, in what is now called the Silver Expanse, one of the high-ranking officials of the Aru Kingdom named Dewa Shahdan managed to save himself from the attack of the Aceh Sultanate and founded a kingdom. This kingdom became the forerunner of the modern Langkat Sultanate.
The name Langkat comes from the name of a tree that resembles a langsat tree. The Langkat tree has fruit that is larger than the langsat fruit but smaller than the duku fruit. It tastes bitter and tart. This tree was once often found on the banks of the Langkat River, namely in the lower reaches of the Batang Serangan River which flows through the city of Tanjung Pura. However, the tree is now extinct.
Dewa Shahdan's successor, Dewa Sakti, was killed in another attack by the Aceh Sultanate in 1612. During the leadership of the Black Vocational King (1750-1818), the attack on Langkat came from the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Langkat was previously subordinate to the Sultanate of Aceh until the early 19th century.[citation needed] At that time the kings of Langkat asked for the protection of the Sultanate of Siak. In 1850 Aceh approached the King of Langkat to return to his influence, but in 1869 Langkat signed a treaty with the Dutch, and King Langkat was recognized as Sultan in 1877.
During the reign of Sultan Musa al-Khalid al-Ma Gift Muazzam Shah, a Dutch administrator named Aeilko Zijlker Yohanes Groninger from Deli Maatschappij found an oil concession in Telaga Said, Pangkalan Brandan. The first concession for oil exploitation was granted by the Sultan in 1883. Two years later, the first oil production was carried out from the bowels of the earth. In 1892, the Royal Dutch oil refinery, which operates the exploitation business, began mass production.

In today's Vietnam travel vlog, we explore the beautiful mountain town of Da Lat by visiting a few of the region's top tourist destinations. We start the day at one of our favorite cafes before having lunch at the #1 rated restaurant on Trip Advisor. Then we head to Datanla Waterfalls to experience the New Alpine Coaster. After a thrilling ride, we hop in a Grab just in time to ride the Da Lat Cable Cars before ending our evening at a delicious local eatery that serves one delicious dish: nem nướng.

One of the BEST ways to “see” Bali with kids, is to take a Bali road trip. In this episode, we continue to explore Bali, Indonesia, with our kids. This is our “What to Expect” in Amed video. With 24 hours in Amed, We had no idea how peaceful and relaxing this tiny village was before we arrived. We spent most of our days swimming in the Tradisi villa pool, playing on the black sand beach, snorkeling in Jemeluk Bay, walking around Amed beach to meet the local people, and (of course) eating. Traditionally, this is a fishing village. It is fun to see their unique jukung fishing boats lining the shoreline. Amed is also well known for its snorkeling and scuba diving. If you love exploring under the sea, be sure to snorkel or scuba dive here, looking for the incredible wreck dives, underwater temples, and night dives. End your day with a beer at Sunset Point, overlooking this incredible village.
