A few weeks ago I visited the beautiful town of Marijampole near Kaunas Lithuania. A lot of people told me that if I loved street art and I loved colorful cities, then I absolutely HAD to visit Marijampole.

Visiting Klaipėda, Lithuania | Travel guide by a Lithuanian
Hello everyone and welcome to Klaipėda, the third largest city and the only port in Lithuania.
It is great to visit during the sea festival in summer, but it won't disappoint you on other days either with all the sights there are to see. From the most famous sea museum and dolphinarium at the Curonian Spit to Klaipėda's German style old town and beaches at the edge of the city.
p.s. I filmed this a few months back during the sea festival, before having my haircut, so I might look a bit odd after watching my more recent videos ????

General country information
Lithuania is a small state located on the coast of the Baltic Sea. Officially, the state is called the Republic of Lithuania. There are 2,784,279 people living in the country.
The state language is Lithuanian, it is spoken by more than 80% of the population. Polish and Russian languages are popular. There are even schools teaching in these languages. Since 2019, the head of state is Gitanas Nauseda, and the main legislative body is the Seim. Lithuania is a member of the European Union and NATO.
Capital
The capital of Lithuania is Vilnius. In 1323 it was called Vilna and was the capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
Now it is an economic, tourist, transport center of Lithuania, which is home to almost 600 thousand people.
The oldest part of Vilnius, called the Old Town, reflects the history and culture of the capital, which has been shaped over the centuries. Therefore, in 1994, UNESCO included the Old Town in the list of World Cultural Heritage.
Climate
The climate of Lithuania is quite comfortable for Russians. The maritime climate on the coast of the Baltic Sea changes to a temperate continental towards the east. Winters are mild with light frosts. Soft snow will delight you from December. The strong northeastern winds typical for this time of the year are unpleasant.
There is no extreme heat in summer. Average temperature + 20-25 degrees. The weather is changeable, it may rain unexpectedly.
Spring and autumn are quite rainy, so when visiting the country during these seasons, it is better to plan museum tours.
Lithuanian nature
The relief is not very diverse. Lowlands alternate with highlands. The coastal plains stretch along the coast, bordered by dunes 10–20 m high.
More than half of the territory is occupied by coniferous and mixed forests. Pine, birch, ash, aspen, spruce are familiar to the eye. Lithuania has a very high population density, therefore, 3 nature reserves have been organized for the preservation of nature. There are reserves in all large forests.
There are over 700 rivers in Lithuania. Their shores are beautiful and attractive for recreation. You can fish, sunbathe on the shore. Rafting is popular among tourists.
There are a lot of lakes with islands on which ancient castles are located.
The main cities of Lithuania:
Kaunas is the second largest city after Vilnius. Founded in the 14th century. Famous for the Kaunas Fortress. Almost 300 thousand people live in it.
Klaipeda is a port city with 150 thousand inhabitants. The old city with the castles of the Teutonic Order is spread out on the banks of the Dange River.
Siauliai is the center of industry and culture. Almost 110 thousand people live in it. Mostly modern buildings. Attracted by the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, built in the 17th century.
What to see
The young town of Neringa is located on the Curonian Spit. Many hotels are ready to receive tourists in any season. The air is clean, the climate is mild, the vegetation is unique.
The Kernavė Museum Reserve is located near Vilnius. These are 5 settlements reflecting the life of civilizations that lived here until the 10th century BC. There are many historical performances here. You can get acquainted with various crafts.
The Hill of Crosses is a local shrine. Not far from the city of Siauliai, about 50 thousand crosses of various sizes are decorated with inscriptions, patterns, figures of Christ. It is believed that the installation of crosses on this mountain brings good luck.
Lithuania landmarks
In the Old Town - the historic district of Vilnius - ancient architecture has been preserved. The streets are paved with cobblestones. You can see different styles: Baroque, Art Nouveau, and Gothic. Temples of different currents - Lutheran, Orthodox, Catholic.
Lithuanian princes were once crowned in the Vilnius Cathedral. The decoration and decorations of the Cathedral are attractive. You can visit the museum in the lower tier, where there are exhibits even from the times of paganism.
Kaunas castle. Built in gothic style from stone. Preserved towers, part of the wall. The castle houses a museum. On the territory for tourists, bright performances, concerts of medieval music and much more are organized.
Trakai Castle is located on one of the islands of Lake Galvė. The beautiful decoration of the castle, frescoes and stained-glass windows, details of the furnishings speak of the former wealth.
