リオのカーニバルは世界的に有名ですが、リオだけでなくブラジル中でカーニバルは行われています。
その中でも特に有名なのが、リオデジャネイロ(Rio de Janeiro)、サルバドール(Salvador)、レシフェ(Recife)のカーニバルで、ブラジル3大カーニバルと呼ばれています。
2020年2月、ブラジル一人旅で、一気にこの3つのカーニバル全てを見てきたので、その様子をお伝えします。ではどうぞ！
①レシフェのカーニバル(2020/2/19)
ブラジル北東部、人口160万人の街レシフェは白砂のビーチが広がる海の町。対岸のアフリカ大陸からたくさんの黒人たちが奴隷として連れてこられました。
レシフェの治安は非常に悪いので観光、カーニバルの際には十分気を付けてください。私が泊まった宿はこちら。安いし清潔でよいホステル。トイレ・シャワーはこんな感じ、テラスにキッチンもあります。
私は一人旅の時は必ずドミトリーに泊まります。周りの人達と仲良くなって一緒に食事に行くのが楽しいですね。
●泊まったドミトリーのホステル

ブラジルはレストランの料金が物価に比べて高いので、食事は主に屋台で食べました。
●食事
・タピオカの屋台
ブラジルではタピオカを粉にしてクレープのように食べ物を巻いて食べます。モチモチしてめちゃうま！
・サトウキビジュース
サトウキビを何度もこして絞り出した砂糖ジュースはめちゃくちゃ甘いですが、暑いレシフェでは最高です！
・謎肉丼
ビーフ、チキン、ソーセージを鉄板で焼いて、ご飯や豆の上にかけて食べる通称「謎肉丼」は激安で激うま！いつも行列ができています。おいしすぎて2回も食べてしまいました。
●カーニバル
カーニバル前日のレシフェの町の様子です。
町中、カーニバルの装飾がされて、活気にあふれていました。
Arsenal広場では、赤地に白の水玉模様の布で街路樹を飾り、まるでサンバの衣装を着ているようです！かわいらしいですね。
・Duarte Coelho bridge(橋)
これは巨大オブジェ、「夜明けの雄鶏(Galo da madrugada)」です。
10m以上ある雄鶏が立つとこんな感じで圧巻、レシフェのカーニバルのシンボルです。
レシフェの中心、マルコ・ゼロ(Marco Zero)広場で行われたリハーサルの様子。
全身に響くドラムの音とリズムは感動的でした。
舞台で行われた、ブラジル原住民インディアンの音楽とダンスの様子、カラフルですね。
歌い踊りながら道を練り歩く集団をランショといいます。こちらは青で統一したアフリカ系チーム[Tambores de Ogun]です。
・レシフェのブロッコ(Bloco)
Bloco(ブロッコ)という、飲みながら練り歩く一般の方たち。こちらも盛り上がっていました。
・グレタさんの人形
パレードではその年話題になった人たちを人形にします。グレタさんの表情はちょっと悪意があるかな。

こちらは、レシフェから10㎞ほど北に位置するオリンダ。
以前はポルトガルの植民地で、保存状態のよいコロニアル風の建物が多く残されているため1982年「オリンダ歴史地区」として世界遺産に登録されました。ポルトガル語で「なんと、美しい」という意味のオーリンダ！が語源になっています。どうですか、この景色、オーリンダ！
パステル調のカラフルな家並みがとてもきれいですね。
レシフェのカーニバルは夜行われますが、オリンダのカーニバルは昼に行われます。カーニバルの前日、リハーサルの様子です。たくさんの子供たちが人形と一緒にパレード、かわいらしくていいですね！
レシフェとオリンダのカーニバルはセットでブラジル3大カーニバルの1つとされています。
②サルバドールのカーニバル(2020/2/20)
サルバドールはレシフェから南西に800㎞、バイーア州の州都で、海に面した町。旧市街は世界遺産に登録されている歴史ある街です。人口は約300万人でブラジル第4の都市。黒人が多い町で日本人や中国人などのアジア系はほとんどいません。
この時期は中国と日本で新型コロナ感染者が増え続けている時で、ブラジルでの感染者はまだゼロ。アジア系＝コロナというイメージがあり、嫌な顔をされることが度々ありました。
サルバドール中心を歩いていると・・・・「コロナウィルス！」私の顔を見てコロナウィルスと叫ばれました。悲しい。
女性に叫ばれました。。。そばにいた男性たちは、むしろ申し訳なさそうな顔をしてました。
予約していた宿に行くと、窓がなく、電気もなく、非常に汚かったのですぐに出てきてしまいました。
急いで宿を探して見つけたところがこちら！ペロウリーニョ広場のホテル「Hostel Atelie Laroye」、1泊2600円(=105レアル)。広い部屋に10個くらいベッドが並んでいました。ベッドというより板という感じ。
なんと、すぐ隣の建物はマイケルジャクソンの曲「They Don't Care About Us」のミュージックビデオで撮影された家でした。
●名物料理
サルバドールの名物料理は、ムケカMoquecaとアカラジェAcaraje。
このムケカが最高！魚介のココナッツスープなのですが、魚介の出汁がたっぷり出ていてタコ、イカ、その他魚介がゴロゴロ入っていてめちゃウマ！ライスやオクラなど色々混ぜて食べるんです。また食べたいなあ。
アカラジェは揚げパンに小エビやいろいろ具材を入れて食べるファーストフード、こちらもうまいです。
夏のブラジルではいたる所でヤシの実を丸ごと飲むことが出来ます。キンキンに冷えたヤシの実ジュースは甘さ控えめで最高です！
●カーニバル
サルバドールのカーニバルで必見は、「カポエイラ」、「オロドゥン」、「カンドンブレ」のパレードです。
足技が主体の格闘技「カポエイラ」は足技をしながら練り歩くので見ていて楽しいです。
警官と選手がカポエイラで対決していました、かっこいい！
マイケルジャクソンのMVで共演して一躍有名になったOlodum(オロドゥン)。
太鼓の響き、一体感が感動的でした。
西アフリカ発祥の黒人密教カンドンブレは、打楽器と踊りが特徴的。黒人女性たちが派手な衣装を着て練り歩きます、とってもきれいですね。
サルバドールはかなり治安が悪いです。気を付けてカーニバルを見ましょう。
ジェズス広場など旧市街、丘の上の町はまだ比較的治安がよいですが、丘を降りた下の町は銃を持った人たちも多いので夜は絶対に行かないでください。
③リオのカーニバル(2020/2/22)
一生に一度は見に行ってみたい！ブラジル、リオのカーニバル。
他のカーニバルとの大きな違いは、リオのカーニバルはサンポードロモ(Sambodromo)というカーニバル専用の施設内部でしか見ることが出来ません。しかもこのチケットが結構高いし、入手が困難です。
私は半年以上前にネットの専用サイトで定価で購入しました。
宿は、リオデジャネイロ中央駅に近いHostel Villa Santana、ドミトリー12人の部屋で、1泊2500円(=100レアル)で朝食付きと格安です。
カーニバル会場のサンポードロモから約1㎞と近いのもよかった。
●Galeto Sat S
生後30日以内の若鶏「ガレット」の専門店。ガレットを炭火焼にして食べると香ばしく、やわらかくて最高です！
Galeto Completo:1500円(58レアル)
シュハスコ(churrasco)の高級店にも行きました。
①シュハスコ高級店Carretão(カヘトン)～4000円
リオの地元でも大人気の高級シュハスコ店、Carretão(カヘトン) Ipanema支店です。
土日は130レアル(約3000円)で食べ放題、飲み物代入れると4000～5000円と結構高いです。
店内は200人は入れるほど広く、モダンな作りで高級感があります。
奥にはビュッフェ式でサラダや料理、寿司まであって食べ放題。
②屋台BBQ～100円
屋台の炭火焼BBQもうまかった！大きな串刺し肉が1本100円(5レアル)からと激安！ブラジル人たちと飲みながら食べた肉は最高でした！
●サンポードロモ
宿から歩いてサンポードロモへ向かいました。リオのカーニバルは22時から始まり、朝の6時まで続きますので結構きついです。
治安が悪いのでできればタクシーなどでいった方が良いです。ダフ屋もいましたが、事前に確実にチケットを買っておいた方がよいでしょう。
指定のゲート番号に到着。中に入ります。
カーニバル専用施設サンポードロモは、全長700mの巨大な施設。リオの中心部にあって、毎年カーニバルの1週間しか使わないのは、かなり贅沢な感じがします。
さあ、こちらがサンポードロモの内部です！折角なので最前列の一番高いチケットを買いました。間近でカーニバルが見れるので最高です。
リオのカーニバルの仕組みを簡単に説明します。
リオのカーニバルはコンテスト形式で各チーム毎に採点されます。
まず1軍と呼ばれるGrupo Especialと、2軍と呼ばれるSerie Aがあり、それぞれ12チーム、合計24チームあります。サッカーのように1軍の最下位と2軍の1位が毎年入れ替わります。1軍の中で1位のチームが優勝、チャンピオンということで優勝賞金はなんと日本円で約5億円！1チーム2000人～4000人で構成され、巨大オブジェの山車と共に時間内に歌やダンス、衣装、華麗さを競い合うのです。
まずは2軍SerieAのパレードの様子をご覧ください。1軍の1チームが4000人に対して、2軍の1チームは約2000人と半分なので、スペースが結構あります。また山車の装飾はそれほど豪華ではありません。2軍だと一番前のBox席が約1万円と安いです。1軍だとBox席は10万円もします。
2階席、3階席の値段は安くなりますが、自由席なので、トイレに行っている間に席を取らることもあるので気を付けて下さい。
大きな山車は2階から見ると全体を見ることが出来るので2階席もお勧めですね。
ショーの時間は65分以上80分以内と決まっていて、規定外は減点となります。
1チームのショーが終わると、清掃員たちが出てきて掃除をします。フィギュアスケートみたいですよね。
2日後、いよいよお待ちかねの1軍のパレードを見に来ました！
最前列は10万円もするので買えず、、、2列目のBox席で我慢、それでも3万5千円くらいしました。
チームごとにテーマがあり、テーマに合わせた衣装、山車のオブジェ、曲、歌があり、あまりの迫力で圧倒されました。
このようなショーを見たことがなく、感動を通り越して驚いてばかりでした。これは是非生で見てほしいですね。
全て終わると朝6時くらい。なんとステージに入ることが出来ます、感動的！
とてもいい思い出になりました。一生に一度リオのカーニバルの1軍のパレード必見ですよ！
またいつか見に行きたいです！
