Walking the Trails, and Suspension Bridges of Ravine Gardens State Park in Palatka, Florida
In this video, we’re off our couch at Ravine Gardens State Park in Palatka, Florida. Ravine Gardens State Park is a 152 acre park that offers hiking, wildlife viewing, nature trails, and amazing views! Ravine Gardens has two ravines up to 120 feet deep that have been transformed into gardens! We're here in February also for the azalea blooming season and the park is alive with color! There are trails to explore in the ravine and from above. It’s a sight to see, along with an obelisk dedicated to former President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Court of States, this is a beautiful park to explore. We’re on a hunt to see the features this park has to offer and learn more about the history of this park along the way. Ravine Gardens State Park - Palatka, FL
In this video we visit Ravine Gardens State Park in Palatka, FL. A paved road winds around the two ravines, offering beautiful views of the natural setting. A small spring fed creek runs through the banks and has carved out most of the ravines. Two decent sized suspension bridges gap the valleys and offer a fun way to cross them. There are many picnic sites spread throughout the park, most equipped with tables and grills. It was a little rainy and humid when we arrived but we had fun nonetheless! Come along as we hike the area!

The Best Camping in Florida
There’s no doubt that Florida is an RVer’s paradise. Filled with beautiful beaches, theme parks, national parks, wildlife watching, warm weather, and more, this destination attracts travelers of all kinds throughout the year—especially during winter months. While popular campgrounds book quickly as RVers escape cold weather across the U.S., Florida’s state and county parks offer an abundance of camping opportunities with scenic views, outdoor activities, and fewer crowds.
Florida has more than 170 parks located throughout the state, including 50 with campgrounds. Here are a few to check out the next time you plan a visit to the Sunshine State.
Myakka River State Park. Located in Sarasota, this state park offers diverse landscapes, wildlife, and more than 100 species of birds for premium birdwatching. There are three campgrounds with 90 RV sites, some of which offer full hookups and space for larger rigs.
Manatee Springs State Park. Home to picturesque freshwater springs, you can find this state park in Chiefland, Florida. From hiking trails to water activities, you’ll find plenty to do outside, and in the winter this is the perfect place to watch the manatees swim. There are RV campsites with hookups, and shower and restroom facilities within each camping loop.
Fort Desoto County Park. This county park is located in Saint Petersburg, Florida, and it offers more than 230 RV campsites. Many of the sites provide water and electrical hookups, as well as spectacular water views. Enjoy 7 miles of beachfront, and be sure to check out the park's historical Fort Desoto. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance.
John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. Make your way to Key Largo to stay at this Florida Keys destination. The park has plenty of RV campsites with hookups, and there’s a playground, cafe, laundry facilities, and a boat launch at the campground. Visitors can book snorkeling tours, hike a nature trail, kayak, and catch incredible sunsets.
Paynes Prairie State Park. With sites accommodating rigs of all sizes, this park is a great stop for seeing a different side of Florida’s diverse landscapes. Wild horses and bison roam through the prairie lands of the park. It’s also a great place to canoe, kayak, hike, and bike. Stop by the visitor center to learn more about the Indigenous history of this region.

In this video, we’re off our couch continuing our exploration of Palatka, a city nestled on the St. John’s River, just 26 miles west of St. Augustine. We’re continuing our visit where we left off on our last trip to Palatka- Ravine Gardens State Park. This 152-acre state park offers many amenities like hiking, bicycling, and wildlife viewing. Additionally, we are here in February in time for the azalea blooming season! We continue our exploration of Palatka by checking out the many murals the city offers, the historical landmarks around the city, and the sites available at Riverfront Park. We grab a bite to eat at Florida’s Oldest Diner, Angel’s Diner and travel back to the year 1932! And we end our day in Palatka by discovering the Palatka to St. Augustine multi-use trail. This is a city with a lot of history and a lot of fun things to do! Check it out along with us please and tell us something you’ve discovered to enjoy during your visit to Palatka!
