History of Fortaleza Brazil

Fortaleza is derived from the name of the fort called Fortaleza da Nossa Senhora de Assuncao. Fortaleza has a long history of wars and take overs between Dutch and Portuguese. The land was discovered in 1500 though the discovery couldn’t be officially sanctioned at that time. The colonization started after the construction of Fort of Sao Tiago in 1603. Dutch invaded the Brazilian North-east in 1630 and took over the Fort Sao Tiago by 1637.

There were a lot of battles between Dutch, Portuguese and Natives and the original fort was destroyed in 1644. Which was re-built by the Dutch West Indies company in 1649 and later on handed it over to the Portuguese in 1654. Initially a village was founded around the fort in 1726 which gradually grew and became the capital of Ceara state of Brazil in 1799.

Earth's Paradise

Fortaleza (Portuguese pronunciation: [foʁtaˈlezɐ], Fortress) is the state capital of Ceará, located in Northeastern Brazil. With a population close to 2.3 million (metropolitan region over 3.4 million), Fortaleza is the 5th largest city in Brazil. It has an area of 313 square kilometres (121 sq mi) and the highest demographic density in the country (8,001 per km²). To the north of the city lies the Atlantic Ocean; to the south are the municipalities of Pacatuba, Eusébio, Maracanaú and Itaitinga; to the east is the municipality of Aquiraz and the Atlantic Ocean; and to the west is the municipality of Caucaia. Residents of the city are known as Fortalezenses. The current mayor is Luizianne Lins, a former academic at the Federal University of Ceará. Fortaleza is one of the three leading cities in the Northeast region together with Recife and Salvador. The city will be one of the host cities of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, for which Brazil is the host nation.

Fortaleza's GDP is R$ 112 billion, arising from its diversified commerce and tourism. Downtown Fortaleza, or the Centro, is where most commercial activities happen. Avenida Monsenhor Tabosa, near Iracema Beach, is another commercial district. Among the largest shopping malls are Iguatemi, North Shopping, Aldeota, and Del Paseo.

The manufacturing industry produces footwear, textiles, leather-derived items, and processed food and beverages. Presently, Fortaleza offers wide and diversified options of spaces, which allows different kinds of events to be promoted, ranging from small business meetings to national and international congresses and fairs that receive thousands of people. The biggest and best-equipped space for events available in the Northeast of Brazil is the Events Centre of Ceará (CEC) in Fortaleza, opened in 2012.

Besides this one, many hotels, business centers and other establishments also offer adequate spaces for different types of gatherings. TAF Airlines has its headquarters in Fortaleza.

Localizada no município de Iranduba, a Vila de Paricatuba oferece um roteiro aos seus visitantes que vai desde o contato com as belezas da natureza como praias, igarapés e igapós; passando pela culinária regional com restaurantes e cafés regionais; até uma viagem histórica nas Ruínas de Paricatuba ???? .

Como chegar? ????????????‍♀

➡ O acesso até a vila pode ser feito por via terrestre. Nesse caso, você deve acessar a rodovia AM-070 (rodovia Manoel Urbano) que leva até Manacapuru. Chegando na altura do km 21 da rodovia, é preciso pegar um ramal à direita da via. Esse ramal, de pouco menos de 10 quilômetros, leva até ao povoado.

Como a Vila de Paricatuba está localizada à margem direita do Rio Negro, é possível também chegar por via fluvial. ????

Ao chegar no local, o que chama primeiro a atenção são as ruínas do casarão do período da belle époque, no centro da vila. É cercado por árvores e tem as paredes cobertas de trepadeiras.

O prédio, construído em 1898 para servir de alojamento para imigrantes, teve várias destinações ao longo dos anos. Foi sede do Instituto Afonso Pena, Liceu de Artes e Ofícios, cuja inauguração contou com a presença do então presidente Afonso Moreira Pena, em junho de 1906.

Administrado por padres franceses, membros da comunidade aprendiam técnicas de marcenaria, construção civil e artes. Depois, chegou a funcionar como casa de detenção e, em seguida, foi transformado no hospital Belisário Pena???? , para atender e abrigar portadores de hanseníase. Funcionou como hospital por quase 40 anos, só fechando às portas quando foi construída a Colônia Antônio Aleixo.

O prédio era imponente e luxuoso, com janelas coloniais, paredes revestidas de azulejo portugueses e vasos de louça inglesa importados da Europa. Mas hoje, depois de anos de abandono, só resta a estrutura de alvenaria, invadida pelo mato e pelas raízes de apuizeiros.

Depois de visitar as ruínas, caminhe até o mirante da virgem, que mostra uma bela panorâmica do rio Negro. Aproveite também para almoçar ou tomar um café da manhã ou da tarde nos restaurantes e cafés regionais da vila com vista para o rio. ????

???? Outro atrativo do local são as belas praias que se formam durante o período de seca do rio. A praia do Paricatuba é a mais famosa e a maior do local, atraindo vários banhistas, sobretudo aos fins de semana.????‍♂

A Praia do Lago (praia da Ponta do Lago), também é uma boa opção de lazer, no entanto, é apropriada para banhos apenas no período de cheia do rio, durante a seca o rio recua muito, ficando distante da areia, como aparece no vídeo.

Da mesma forma, em Paricatuba temos a praia do Inglês e a praia da Bica, que também ficam próprias para banho apenas durante a enchente do rio.

Na seca do rio, é possível andar em suas margens por longas distancias, através da relva que se forma com a vazante e observar vários animais como gaivotas, rouxinóis e botos.

A histórica Vila de Paricatuba é considerada um lugar de extrema relevância por proporcionar uma imersão na história, promissor ao estudo e pesquisa da arqueologia, além de ser um local onde o turismo nos finais de semanas e feriados tende a crescer ainda mais. Visite!

On Beira-mar Avenue, kiosks and restaurants offer regional seafood, Sushi, Brazilian dishes and many more varieties of food; there are also many bars which provide anything from beer to cocktails. At the handcraft fair (the feirinha), many stands show embroidery and leather work, as well as jewelry and regional food or artisinal cachaça. Of the urban beaches in Fortaleza, Praia do Futuro is the most frequented and is characterized by restaurants along the beach, each one with its own musical style and decoration.
The statue of Iracema refers to the legend of the Indian which was depicted in a novel by José de Alencar, a famous Brazilian author who originated from Fortaleza. Mucuripe Beach holds the Lighthouse Museum. Opened in 1846, the lighthouse was active for 111 years, until it was closed in 1957. Dragão do Mar Art and Culture Center holds the Cearense Culture Memorial, the Contemporary Art Museum and Rubens de Azevedo Planetarium, as well as movies and theaters. Besides this, many old warehouses were refurbished and became bars and restaurants surrounding the central area of town. There are cuisine and show options in the evening. It is most certainly one of the trendiest places to be seen.

Nightlife includes bars, nightclubs and restaurants, open every day in the week, besides the characteristic comedy shows that have introduced nationally famous artists. An off-season carnival, Fortal, happens in Fortaleza in July. With a remodeled structure in 2008, the event has parking lots, bleachers, stalls and food court. The event lasts 4 days and around 1.5 million people enjoy the nationally famous axé music bands. Fortaleza also stages music festivals in Brazil, such as Ceará Music. This yearly event includes local artists and international pop rock stars for 3 days. Around 25 thousand people enjoy the fun and several concerts, electronic music tents, and fashion shows.
The Pinto Martins International Airport connects Fortaleza with major Brazilian cities and also operates international flights. The city is home to the Federal University of Ceará.

Casa da Baronesa serra da Aratanha/ Pacatuba parte 5

A Casa da Baronesa do Café. a casa mais antiga de Pacatuba. A construção data do século XVIII e serviu de abrigo para os exploradores da Expedição Científica que visitou o Ceará entre 1859 e 1861.
A expedição que reuniu cientistas e intelectuais de notório saber, visitou as terras nordestinas em busca de riquezas minerais que diziam existir na região. Os componentes da comitiva não encontraram as ricas jazidas de pedras preciosas que vieram buscar, mas realizaram importantes estudos antropológicos e registraram um momento cultural relevante da história do Ceará.
Abarrotados de equipamentos, em caravana, os cientistas da expedição que ficou conhecida como a Comissão das Borboletas, levaram dias para chegar a Serra da Aratanha, domínios dos barões do café, Antônio Costa e Silva e Maria do Carmo Teófilo e Silva, pais do poeta Juvenal Galeno.
