Póvoa de Varzim (2023) is a coastal city in the North Region (Norte) of Portugal at the Atlantic Ocean. Póvoa de Varzim is located halfway the Douro and the Minho rivers and close to Vila do Conde. Póvoa de Varzim has a population of 65,000 but in the broader metropolitan area live at least 110,000 people. Some highlights of the city are the historic centre with the City Park and the Senhora das Dores Church, the Santos Minho Road, the Nova Póvoa, Touro, the Lagoa Beach and the Praça do Almada.

Póvoa de Varzim é uma cidade portuguesa na Região Norte (sub-região do Grande Porto e Área Metropolitana do Porto) situada numa planície costeira arenosa, a meio caminho entre os rios Minho e Douro.
É sede do município da Póvoa de Varzim com 82,21 Km² de área e com 63 408 habitantes (2011).
A cidade expandiu-se, a sul, para Vila do Conde, formando o conjunto uma aglomeração urbana de 100 000 habitantes, a sétima maior em Portugal e a terceira do Norte.
É um dos pólos urbanos do Norte de Portugal e centralidade dos concelhos vizinhos de Vila do Conde e Esposende.
Póvoa de Varzim, is a Portuguese city in Northern Portugal and sub-region of Greater Porto, 30 km from its city centre.
It sits in a sandy coastal plain, a cuspate foreland, halfway between the Minho and Douro rivers.
In 2001, there were 63,470 inhabitants, with 42,396 living in the city proper.
The city expanded, southwards, to Vila do Conde, and there are about 100,000 inhabitants in the urban area alone.
It is the seventh-largest urban agglomeration in Portugal and the third largest in Northern Portugal.
