Anangan Mala (Anangan Mountain) is located 10 Kms away from Ottapalam town in to the north direction. Anangan mala is famous for its richness of Ayurveda herbs, as a film shooting location and as an adventurous rock climbing spot in Ottapalam. Hill extends up to 18 km from Ambalappara to Ananganadi through Varode, Panamanna, Kothakurssi, Melur and Kizhur. You will get a beautiful sight of south side of Anangan Mala by travelling through Ottapalam – Cherpulassery road and you will get the sight of north side by traveling through Melur – Kizhur road, the famous Panikkarkunnu which was the shooting location for many films is situated here. Anangan Mala is an Eco Tourism spot controlled by Kerala Forest Department, Ottapalam forest range.

Varikkasseri Mana is one of the oldest traditional aristocratic Namboothiri's Houses (illam). It is also known as Varikkumanchery Mana. It is located at Manissery,a village in Ottapalam,palakkad, Kerala, South India. Varikkassey Mana is situated on about four Acaes. The house was used in a number of Mollywood movies. Visitors are allowed when no film is shooting.The Varikkasseri family has a history of over 100 years. Varikkasseri has the sovereign position among Namboothiri Ashta griha families. The Mana was built by Varikkassery Ravi Namboothirippad in the early twentieth century.
The Mana situated in a picturesque landscape of more than 10 acres which contains a beautiful Pond, Two Temples and two Pathayapuras and trees that includes all types of indigenous ones.
Archaeology In 4 Acres, Varikkasseri Mana consists of one Nalukettu, two Pathayappuras (Outhouse): one to the south ( Thekke Pathayappura) and other to the west ( Padinjare pathayappura), A Sreekrishna temple, Oottupura and a marvelous large pond with kulappura ( a building at the pond-entrance). Mana was built by Varikkasseri Ravi Namboodiripad, paternal grand-uncle of current head ( Karanavar) Krishnan Namboodiripad.
The four halls on the sides are named Vadakkini (Northern block), Kizhakkini (Eastern block), Thekkini (Southern block) and Padinjatti (Western block).
Each of these halls has its own well-defined functional importance. Nalukettu is the main building (Tharavadu) of Varikkasseri Mana.
Another view is of the Pond which mesmerizes us of its green colour and the trees surrounding it. From the Pond then it is to the Large ‘Devi temple’ and a small ‘Aiyappa Kshetram’.

The Mana is located at Manissery, in Ottappalam, around 35 km from Palakkad, in the south Indian state of Kerala. The nearest railway station is Ottapalam railway station but one may also reach the place via Shornur railway station which is 13 km away. Kozhikode International Airport is the entry point by air, which is situated 62 km away from the Mana.
Varikkasseri Mana (Malayalam: വരിക്കാശേരി മന), alternatively known as Varikkumanchery Mana, is one of the oldest traditional aristocratic Namboothiri family houses (illam) in Kerala. Built in Kerala architectural style on a plot of land measuring approximately 4 acres, the building is located at Manissery, a village in Ottapalam in Palakkad. It is a popular shooting location for Malayalam films and several commercially successful films such as Devasuram, Aaraam Thampuran, Rappakal ,Valliettan and Mamangam were filmed on its premises.
The Varikkasseri family is reported to have a history of over 1000 years and the family is known to have occupied a sovereign position among Ashta gruha (Eight Families) Namboothiri families. The Mana was built by Varikkassery Ravi Namboothirippad in or about 1902, using locally available red stone. An expansive padippura (gate house) provides the entry to the three-storied building complex which comprises a nalukettu with 74 rooms, two pathayappuras (outhouses), a large pond and the adjoining bath house, a family temple complex consisting three temples of Shiva, Krishna and Ayyappan, and an oottupura (dining hall), which has since been demolished. It was designed by Krishnan Thampuran, also known as Shilpi Thampuran, of Varikkasseri family, who had earlier studied architecture in Chennai and his exposure to western architecture is seen in the design of the building, especially in the long slender columns surrounding the portico of the building. The beams, doors and windows are made out of wood and are adorned with intricate carvings.
The house was used in a number of Malayalam films, starting with Theertham, the 1987 film made by Mohan. It is reported that the principal photography of over 100 films have been done here which include Devasuram, Aaraam Thampuran, Rappakal, Anandabhadram, Drona,, Simhasanam, Madampi, Sufi Paranja Katha, Jana (Tamil),Thooval Kottaram, Valliettan, Kaavalan, Manthrikan and Pretham 2. The visitors are allowed in the complex when no film is being shot. The mana is maintained and managed by a trust formed by the current owners of the property, consisting of 10 of the 25 original heirs and some investors who purchased the rights from the remaining 15 heirs.
Varikkassery Krishnan Nampoothirippad was a well-known sculptor. He built the portico for this house in 1940s.

You might have heard about the famous Tipu Sultan's Fort in Palakkad, but this one is different.
This place is located around 2km from Koottanad Town. If you are coming from Koottanad town towards Guruvayur road, you can find a small road on the left near Mill bus stop or Koottanad Juma Masjid. From there you will reach Kotta after 100 meters.
We can still see a few sculptures here like 2 beds and 2 of them look like a mini toilet. Some people say that there was a hidden underground passage created from this place to the Palakkad Fort. It is believed that this gap is used to keep a sword and the round shape is used to keep chewing items.
The Kotta is rectangular in shape and is surrounded by dungeons or pits which makes the Kotta a safe place for soldiers from enemies. It is spread for around 3 acres.
