Ecuador is one of the most diverse countries in the world though it's comparably tiny. Beside the Galapagos Islands (which is the #1 tourist destination in Ecuador) the country has a lot more to offer, therefore I focussed on La Sierra in this video which is a paradise for landscape lovers and outdoor adventurers.
Another reason to visit the Andean region is that you have the chance to dive into the local culture and get a real feeling of Ecuador. The places to see in Ecuador I focussed on in this short video are the result of my own travels along the center from north to south and are easily doable in 2 weeks time.

The city of Quito is located high in the mountains, so if you fly into Quito you may need a few days to accommodate to the weather and height. The place boasts marvelous architecture and fascinating views over the surrounding areas. Among other tourist attractions are white water rafting in Banos. Do not miss to take a flight to the Galapagos Islands for incredible wildlife. This is a truly magnificent place! In addition, Ecuador is called after the equator that crosses the country. 10. GUAYAQUIL
Guayaquil which is officially called Santiago de Guayaquil is the largest city of the Ecuador, nation’s main port, and also the capital of Guayas province and seat of Guayaquil canton. This city has about 2.7million people and thus city is the commercial heart of Ecuador. This city was founded by the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Orellana. This beautiful city of Guayaquil has romantic colonial buildings, lush garden and animals, lighthouse and so much more. this city has a lot to offer its visitors because for a fact it’s a big city so u cannot be able to count your fun moments cause it going to be too much that you will lose count. 10. Guayaquil
As Ecuador’s largest city with almost 2.7 million people, Guayaquil is the commercial heart of Ecuador. Located on the banks of the Guayas River that leads to the Pacific Ocean, the city was founded in 1538 by the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Orellana. The Parque Historico Guayaqui offers colonial buildings, lush gardens and animals native to the country; visitors especially like the free admission.
09. Mindo
Mindo offers environmentally conscious travelers the best of two biodiversified ecosystems: the tropical Andes and the Chocoan lowlands. Here, visitors will see cloud forests, farmlands, three major rivers and hundreds of streams. One of Ecuador’s most popular tourist destinations, Mindo provides a wide variety of outdoor activities ranging from rafting and bird-watching to mountain biking, horseback riding and hiking.
08. Salinas
Salinas is the westernmost city in Ecuador, sitting on the Pacific Ocean, which makes it popular with surfers and yachters. Ecuador’s most popular beach resort city offers some great beaches. It is known as Little Miami Beach because of its high-rise condominiums dotting the shoreline.
07. Quilotoa Loop
Hikers who enjoy trekking through the backcountry surely will enjoy the Quilotoa loop, a trail that takes visitors through several of Ecuador’s remote Andean villages. Hiking the loop can take up to four days, but can be done in less time if hikers take a bus between points, though they’d be missing out on some ancient trails if they did this.

Riobamba, a city in the Andean highlands, is notable for a couple of reasons. One is its proximity to Chimaborazo, Ecuador’s highest mountain that stands 6,268 meters (20,564 feet) above sea level.

The small city of Baños lies at the foot of the active volcano Tungurahua. Named after the hot springs fed by the thermal waters of the volcano, Baños is one of the most popular places to visit in Ecuador. Known as the “Gateway to the Amazon,” Baños is a favorite departure point for jungle tours.

Cuenca, the capital of Azuay Province, is noted for its many old colonial buildings. A classic example of a planned Renaissance town in the Americas, Cuenca shares many architectural features with Old Quito. Its narrow, cobbled streets, balconied houses with interior courtyards and white churches however are all presented without the pollution, noise and crowds of the capital.

The Imbabura Province just outside Quito Ecuador is home to the most famous markets in Ecuador - Otavalo. Most people only come on Saturday, shop the artisanal market and leave.
But there's more than just the fabulous market. In fact I spent most of it in the food market! In the video we share with you

Chaulafán Otavaleño: epic Ecuadorian rice and noodle dish

In these series of short video guides, I'll be traveling around the Ecuadorian town Otavalo, giving advice and explaining what's good to do and see.
The dancing at parties consists of stomping and shuffing and swaying side to side whilst moving as a group in a large circe. The more people there are the bigger the circles.
Hitchhiking is loads of fun, so go with an open mind and hold on for the bumpy ride.
Cotapaxi is a must when you're there and is easy if you manage to land yourself your own car, fear not if you can't as taxis can be rented to take you all the way up.

Otavalo is located 3 hours from Mindo and 90 minutes north of Quito. One thing we learned is that if your are not starting your northern Ecuador road trip in Quito, that Otavalo is the perfect central point for many of the places to visit.

Exploring The LARGEST Indigenous Market in Otavalo, Ecuador - What to Buy, Do, and See?
In today's video, I will be traveling to the largest indigenous market in Otavalo, Ecuador. Otavalo is a town in the Andean highlands in the Imbabura province of northern Ecuador. It’s surrounded by volcanoes including the Imbabura Volcano. It's known for its Otavalo Market in the central Plaza de Ponchos, where traditionally clad indigenous townspeople sell colorful textiles and handicrafts. Nearby, the Tejidos El Obraje Museum has textile exhibits and weaving demonstrations. It is also home to the San Pablo Lake or San Pablo Laguna as well as Cuicocha volcano.
From our hotel in Quito, Ecuador (Suites Metroplo), I headed to Otavalo Market Ecuador. Located in the heart of Ecuador, Otavalo is just short of 100km away from Quito to the north. We also passed Guayabamba, Ecuador. Along the way, we had the opportunity to stop and enjoy the delicious Cherimoya fruits. The foods here are delicious and they have a wide variety. A point to note about the roasted pig is that they keep the pig for use over the weekend. So as to avoid a bad stomach best eat it on the Saturday when it's fresh and not reheated.
