Passau, Germany: Things To Do In The City Of Three Rivers [Travel Guide]
This time, we stopped in the small city, colourful city of Passau, Germany. The city lies very close to the Austrian border and is also the point where THREE major rivers - the Ilz, Danube, and Inn - meet!
From a stunning cathedral to the charming old town, we had a really relaxing time exploring the city when we visited at the start of September! We even got the chance to hike up to the Veste Oberhaus - a fortress that is over 800 years old - and enjoyed a drink with amazing views! Passau is also a popular stop for Danube river cruises so if you're visiting Passau (for whatever reason), this video should give you a snapshot of what to expect!

heutzutage funktioniert dieses schloss als jugendherberge. gruppenführungen werden aber dennoch angeboten.
ein grossteil der burg, den turm, burgfried und den schlossgarten kann man kostenfrei auf eigene faust besichtigen. und anschliessend einen saufen gehen, oder durch die weinberge wandern, oder entlang der kinzig spazieren gehen, und beim großen deich eine kleine pause einlegen
One of the MOST PICTURESQUE Cities along the Danube River | PASSAU, GERMANY
Passau is a picturesque city located in the South Eastern part of Germany in the state of Bavaria. The city borders Austria and the state capitol Munich is about a 2 hour drive away.
We’ll start the city tour at the Veste Oberhaus, a 13th century fortress located atop a hill just north of the Danube river.
We’ll continue to the Pilgrimage church of Mariahilf located in the Innstadt, just south of the river Inn. Afterwards, I’ll take you on a walking tour loop through the Innstadt and crossing over a bridge above the Inn river.
Next we’ll explore the city center which comprises the Neumarkt and Altstadt, which is the old town known for its baroque architecture, including St. Stephen’s Cathedral featuring one of the biggest organs in the world.
At the eastern tip of Old town is where the river Danube is joined by the Inn from the south and Ilz from the north giving Passau its Nickname Drei-Fluesse-Stadt which means “City of Three Rivers”.
At the end of the tour we’ll return to Veste Oberhaus for spectacular nighttime views of the city.

The Wildpark, founded in 1959 on the Ostrand of Poing by private hands, is a popular excursion destination near Munich. After eleven years of preparatory work, the park was opened in 1970. On an area of 570,000 m², it offers year-round the opportunity to observe native wild animals from close up. Bautzen Sachsen--Bautzen ( Budyšin ) im Freistaat Sachsen. Bautzen ist Zentrum des sorbischen Lebens. Die markante Stadtansicht wird durch die alte Wasserkunst und die Michaeliskirche geprägt - den besten Blick hat man von der Spreebrücke aus.
Von hier hat man einen tollen Panoramablick auf Bautzen und das Spreetal.

Deutschland - Bautzen
Die sorbische Hauptstadt an der Spree zählt sicher zu den schönsten Städten Deutschlands. Die wunderschöne Altstadt zeugt heute noch von der über tausendjährigen Geschichte der Stadt. Mein Spaziergang führt an den wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten vorbei. An der alten Wasserkunst, dem St. Petri Dom, dem schiefen Turm, der Ruine der Kirche St. Nicolai oder der Ortenburg. In Bautzen eröffnen sich viele eindrucksvolle Blicke. Ich habe versucht, die schönsten einzufangen. Übrigens, Bautzen als Hauptstadt der Sorben hat selbst nur einen sorbischen Bevölkerungsanteil von maximal 10 %. Im sorbischen Museum oder im sorbischen Theater kann man aber viel über das kleine Volk im Osten Sachsens und im Süden Brandenburgs erfahren.

The Sorbian capital on the Spree is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. The beautiful old town still bears witness of the thousand-year history of the city. My walk takes you past the main sights. At the old fountain, the St. Peter's Cathedral, the Leaning Tower, the ruins of the church of St. Nicholas or the Ortenburg. In Bautzen opens up many impressive views. Oh I tried to capture the most beautiful. By the way, as the capital of the Sorbs in Bautzen has itself only a Sorbian population of more than 10%. In the Sorbian Sorbian museum or theater you can learn a lot about the little people in eastern Saxony and southern Brandenburg.
