A drive through a street in Ore, Ondo state , Nigeria. Old Lagos - Benin road. Not a pleasant experience! The contrast in the background music and the scenery/eyesore is deliberate, from sublime to the unrefined, really.
June 2022 - road was fixed by the government about a year ago. Better late than never!

HELLO FROM COUNTRY #172 - ERITREA!

I'm thrilled to be back in Africa where I will spend the remaining 3 months of the year! Many of you probably haven’t heard of Eritrea before and that’s because it’s a relatively new country and it’s notoriously difficult to enter (top 5 in the world). After 48 hours of roaming around the capital of Asmara and the ancient port city of Massawa, I’ve really enjoyed my time here.

I’m getting flashbacks to when I was in Ethiopia, yet also touches of Yemen Somaliland and Italy. Yes - ITALY! Eritrea is a former Italian colony and their influence is remarkably well-preserved in the form of giant cathedrals, pizza parlors, gelato shops, old Italian cars, appertivos and many people can still speak fluent Italiano.

The capital of Asmara is VERY safe, with kind-hearted people and surprisingly the weather is cold here (2,400 meters high). Unfortunately due to WiFi issues, I haven't been able to upload anything until now, but there’s no hurry because life is wonderful here! More to come soon ????????

Warmest Countries in Europe (Top 10 Winter Destinations)

Top 10 Warmest Countries in Europe! Here's our list of the 10 warmest countries to live in winter. Warmest winter travel destination in Europe. Low cost and budget vacation holiday travel tips for digital nomads and expats looking to retire in Europe's warmest countries. Warm countries to escape the winter! Hot weather winter destinations for Ex-pats.

#Warm #Europe #Top10

10. MONACO
Monaco isn’t a large country. It is therefore very easy to evaluate when you consider its rich culture and mild climate. It is situated on the French Riviera and has average annual temperatures ranging between 13 and 14°C. Several European locations have greater July daytime temperatures, but Monaco keeps most of its warmth at nighttime and does not see significant decreases throughout the cold season.

9. TURKEY | MARMARIS
Cold days at the Turkish shore are lovely and moderate, with readings ranging around 12-15 degrees - though it typically seems hotter thanks to the sunlight.
January has just passed, the season of Christmas is over, and spring is really far away. Europe half-asleep under snow and ice. However, Turkey is a different story this winter. Turkey's Mediterranean coast is one of the warmest destinations on cold days at the Turkish shore is lovely and moderate, with readings ranging around 12-15 degrees

8. FRANCE
Other than in the Coastline, where warm temperatures and scorching summertime are typical, France normally has moderate winters and mild summertime.
You may enjoy your winter vacation avoiding the chilly temperatures without departing Central Europe. We are referring to the south of France, namely Nice, where the cold climate ranges around 12°C (54°F) and 6°C (44°F).

7. PORTUGAL
Next, we move to Iberia, wherein Portugal is somewhat hotter than adjacent Spain throughout the year. Its sun-kissed Algarve area has scorching summer heat, while the Portuguese state of Madeira is among Europe's hottest wintertime locations. Funchal, Madeira's main city, with a mean heating rate of 20°C even in Early December, gives it a favorite destination for New Year's Night parties.

6. TIRANA, ALBANIA
So where to hang out in December, when the rest of Europe shivers underneath blankets? The average time the sun is above the horizon in Tirana, Albania in November and December is 8 hours, respectively. These two months are good for outdoor activities. Tirana, Albania's capital, is known for its vibrant construction, which includes structures from the Ottoman and Soviet periods. It also has an extraordinary horizontal woodland designed by architect Stefano Boeri.

5. GREECE
Bordering Greece is really 3°C colder on average throughout the year than Cyprus. It may, though, contain several locations which have a comparable temperature. Crete and Rhodes are some of the hottest, with degrees that are greater above the nationwide norm.

4. ITALY
Palermo is Italy's fifth biggest town, and it's also among the hottest, thanks to its location on the 'stone' that the 'boot' of Italy kicks on the globe. The Winter season in Palermo is pleasant, with temperatures reaching up to 20°C on certain days, owing to the balmy Sirocco breezes that sweep in from Africa.

3. MONTENEGRO
Montenegro has a mild and humid environment. You can have some beautiful, bright winter afternoons in which you may go outdoors in your sunglasses and coat, drink a cappuccino, read a book, or simply watch things go by.
Podgorica lies in the core area of Montenegro, which is intersected by streams and is close to Lake Skadar. In addition, the town is only approximately 22 miles from the Adriatic Sea's coasts.

2. MALTA
obviously, we couldn't discuss mild temperatures in Europe throughout the wintertime without discussing the little island of Malta. Malta has Subtropical weather, which implies moderate winter weather with daily values ranging from 15°C to 19°C dependent on the month.
While not as hot as many of the various places listed previously, the temperature is still mild sufficient to enable for sightseeing tours and traveling, since the island has many interesting things to explore.

1. CYPRUS
In fact, Cyprus experiences the hottest temperatures in the Southeastern area of the European States. Another competitor for possessing the finest living weather in Europe. Cyprus, located in the southeast region of the Mediterranean, is indeed very warm throughout the summertime, however, it does not reach the severe highs of certain countries.

10 Most Dangerous Tourist Destinations ON EARTH!

If you're tired of all-inclusive beach holidays, sightseeing tours, and package deals, if your sick of vacationing in the same boring places, why not try something a little more exciting and a lot more dangerous? Here are the 10 Most Dangerous Tourist Destinations ON EARTH!

1. Praia De Boa Viagem, Brazil
One of Brazil's most beautiful beaches, its warm waters make it a wonderful place to swim, and not just for humans. In 2012 an 18-year old became the 56th shark attack victim in the last 20 years. Shark attacks have an average mortality rate of 16% but here, for some unknown reason, Bull and Tiger Sharks are much more aggressive and mortality rates are a whopping 37%!

2. Shenzhen Safari Park
Home to over 10,000 animals and over 300 different species, it also has some of the rarest species too! The Giant Panda, The Golden Monkey, and Magellanic penguin to name a few. Shenzhen safari park is also home to numerous lions and tigers, and these animals are not in cages! you can view them from the inside of the caged tour bus, Just Be Careful With Your Fingers!

3. Mount Sinabung, Indonesia
Hikers and climbers travel here to reach the summit of mount Sinabung whilst enjoying the beautiful Indonesian landscape. However, this Mountain is actually a volcano and after 1200 years of lying dormant, in 2010 it began erupting, further eruptions in 2013 and 2014, and a Pyroclastic flow in 2016 which killed 7 visitors. these small eruptions seem to warn us of an imminent larger one although no one knows when, so visit at your own risk!

4. Kokoda and Black Cats trails, Papua New Guinea
If you enjoy trekking, you may want to consider Papua New Guinea. This 4 to 5 day Trek through mountains and leech-infested swamps to the town of Wau is known as one of the toughest in the world. Lonely Planet described it as only suitable for Masochists and Israeli Paratroopers.

5. Mount Washington, New Hampshire
At around 6200 ft tall, Mount Washington is actually a rather small mountain, don,t let its size fool you though as it's actually known as the most dangerous small mountain in the world. It has extremely high winds, with gusts up to 230mph! It has recorded 150 fatalities since 1849 and is known to have literally blown climbers off it.

6. Madidi National Park, Bolivia
This Park is one of the largest protected areas in the world and also one of the most biodiverse. However, if you wish to visit it you will be faced with some challenges. Torrential rain can make the flight into Rurrenabaque, let's just say interesting. Next, a 15-hour bus trip on a flood-prone mountain path in addition to the numerous insects, parasites, poisonous plants, snakes, and spiders doesn't really make for a good Travel Brochure.

7. Lake Natron, Tanzania
Lake Natron is a salt lake and has extremely alkaline water, this water is home to very little, some endemic algae, invertebrates, and birds, most notably the lesser flamingos who gather there to feed upon Spirulina the algae which gives the birds their color.
The lake's excessive alkalinity, above 12, and extreme temperatures, up to 140f make it not only an inhospitable place but also a dangerous one.

8. Mount Hua, China
Mount Hua is one of China's most important mountains and also one of the most dangerous, claiming around 100 lives a year. The only way up is via a thin wooden walkway that is bolted onto the side of the mountain and some wires to hold onto. the lack of handrails turns any slight loss of footing into a 7000ft freefall!

9. Yosemite Half Dome, California
Whilst on the subject of dodgy ascents, the Half Dome is 8800ft high and the only way up is via an improvised stairway made of two handrails and some planks of wood. The half-dome has claimed 12 lives in recent years and 240 emergency incidents.

10. Skellig Michael, Ireland
This twin-peaked island is home to a 7th-century monastery which is accessible via 3 stone staircases. These staircases were made to be difficult to climb as a defense mechanism against invaders. Nowadays these stairs are a defense mechanism against tourists, especially when wet, which is almost always. Many tourists have complained asking for handrails to be installed, although the Irish tourist board says this would ruin this perfectly preserved historical site, and that maybe tourists should do some research before visiting.
