A short visit to Orléans (France) on the Loire Valley
A day outing to Orléans, about 50 miles south-west of Paris, the gate to the Châteaux de la Loire (Loire Castles). Joan of Arc is celebrated there because she helped liberate the city from the English rule during the 100 years war (1429). Built in the 13th century, the Cathedral houses a memorial to the American soldiers who lost their lives on French soil.
Shot the videos with my newly-bought Panasonic TZ40 and the still pictures with a FZ200 bridge camera also from Panasonic. Pablo Mira did the editing.

Schon früh am Samstag Morgen schulen mich Efe und Özge ein. Sie erklären und zeigen einem 57 jährigen Österreicher, wie man Kaffee nach türkischer Tradition zu bereitet. Es wird ein heiterer, lehrreicher Crashkurs. Am Nachmittag fahre ich mit dem Rad nach Orleans, gehe Mittagessen und besichtige die Stadt. Zufällig werde ich Zeuge mehrerer Hochzeiten und Tanzvorführungen. Durchnässt vom dichten Regen, kehre ich am Abend zurück und schließe den Tag mit einer netten Unterhaltung mit meinen türkischen Freunden.

Eine Filmserie über eine Radreise durch 10 Länder Europas und über 5.000 Kilometer vom Atlantik zum schwarzen Meer.

Gleich zu Beginn zieht es mich anstatt nach Osten nach Westen. Denn dort, in Blois, befindet sich die nächste Brücke über die Loire. Landschaftlich beeindrucken mich die vielen weitläufigen Kornfelder, die saftig grünen Wiesen, die dunklen Waldabschnitte und die manchmal schier unglaubliche Nähe des Radweges am Flussufer. Bei Avaray, da wo zwei große Atommeiler aus der friedliebenden Gegend sprießen, fühlte ich mich erstmals ein wenig unwohl. Bei Beaugency, um 16:30 Uhr, koche ich mir eine warme Mahlzeit. Noch bevor ich die Loire aus den Augen verliere, lande ich in einer mysteriösen Kultstätte. Es ist die Künstlerbühne La Corne des Patures, die sich malerisch an den Strand des ruhigen Flusses schmiegt. Unterwegs verraten zwei Holländer, dass der Campingplatz in Orleans gesperrt ist. Am Abend, in Olivet, treffe ich zwei alte Bekannte. Es sind Özge und Efe, die beiden freundlichen und redseligen Radreisenden aus der Türkei.

26. Reisetag: Von Olivet nach Chateauneuf, Eurovelo 6, Frankreich
Eine Filmserie über eine Radreise durch 10 Länder Europas und über 5.000 Kilometer vom Atlantik zum schwarzen Meer.

Am Weg zur Rezeption verabschiede ich mich von Efe und Özge, den beiden Radreisenden aus der Türkei, die mir einen Tag zuvor erklärt haben, wie man Kaffee nach türkischer Art zubereitet.
In einem Supermarkt, am Weg nach Orleans, finde und kaufe ich die lang ersehnten Zelt-Heringe. Über 12 Kilometer, von Saint Jean le Blanc bis nach Sandillon, genieße ich die herrliche Fahrt durch eine zauberhafte Naturlandschaft. Ein Treffen mit freundlichen Menschen und eine kurze, gemeinsame Fahrt mit Gleichgesinnten, erquickt die Seele. Bei Sandillon wird die feuchte Wäsche großflächig getrocknet, gespeist und relaxt. Die Ankunft am Campingplatz in Chateauneuf am frühen Abend wird durch die persönliche Begrüßung der Chefin eine ganz besonders delikater Empfang.

Before colonization, the now Great Lakes State was home to at least eight Native American tribes throughout the land, one of which being the Ojibwe Indians. The Ojibwe were the first people to openly interact with the French in Michigan, trading furs and knowledge of the area for guns and goods. Through translation, the state of Michigan was named after the Ojibwe Indian word “Michigama,” which means “great lake” or “land surrounded by water.”

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age, in the 6th millennium BC, and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.

We zijn aangekomen op camping d'Olivet bij Orleans. hier voelen we ons echt welkom en halen een pizza bij de pizzakar op de camping. De volgende dag fietsen we naar het centrum van Orleans en bezoeken de indrukwekkende kathedraal waar we ook een dienst meemaken. Wat indrukwekkend!! Na de kathedraal zwerven we nog wat door de mooie oude stad en scoren een lekkere koffie.
