Meet Jesus in Bavaria: The world's best-known passion play has been taking place in the village of Oberammergau every ten years since 1634. In it, some 2,000 villagers enact the final days in the life of Jesus Christ. To add a touch of authenticity, male protagonists are barred from shaving or visiting the barber for a whole year! DW’s Lukas Stege went to Oberammergau to experience this extraordinary event – and even got himself a selfie with Jesus.

Hello guys, I’m back with another video. This time I will be bringing you to the King Ludwig the 2 castles tour. The tour is called Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace Day tour from Munich. I booked the tour through Viator ( and it cost 58 Euros/person. This tour is highly rated main reason why I choose it plus the tour has a bonus stop in the town of Oberammergau.
I received the confirmation right after I paid. All I need to do now is show up on time for everything is arranged. Plus we get plenty of time to explore and take photos on every stops.
1st stop is the Linderhof Castle
2nd stop is the village of Oberammergau - it such a beautiful village that feels like you are in a different era.
3rd stop is the Schloss Neuschwanstein = We get 3,5 hours to explore this castle and its beautiful surrounding. There are several ways to reach the castle from where the bus will stop. On foot, by bus or by horse carriages. On foot will take around 25-30 minutes light uphill walk. Going up by horse carriages cost 6 euro/person and by bus 2 euros/person. Entrance cost 13 euros and it is open from 9am – 6pm daily from April-Sept. and 10am-4pm daily from Oct-March.

In this episode, we take you through our experience of spending a weekend in a small, charming, quant south Bavarian town of Oberammergau, that is situated in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen region of Germany, also very close to the border with Austria. Given that we visited this place during winters, we also share our experience of beginner level skiing in this area, which also is one of the reason that makes this place popular. After spending sometime on the ski slopes, we explore what else Oberammergau as a town has to offer and get lost in the beautifully painted houses, and saviour some delectable food. For those wishing to also explore a little more in and around the region, there is Zugspitze and Neuschwanstein Castle half an hour drive away which are also one of the most popular and beautiful destinations of Germany. So come along, wear your thermals and hope on, for this ride to a winter wonderland!
