Buenos Aires - City Video Guide

Buenos Aires combines European architecture with a Latin passion for soccer, juicy cuts of meat, and of course, the tango!

Buenos Aires was established as a trading port in the 16th century and soon became one of the richest countries in the world. Since then the city's fortunes have faded, but its splendor remains.

The melancholy of the city's fading riches resonates in the sweeping lament of the tango. Enjoy lunch in the harbor of La Boca, where this famous dance originates.

Explore El Caminito, the city's most famous walkway, then tour La Bombonera, once the home ground of soccer legend Diego Maradona.

Browse the colonial buildings of San Telmo and enjoy the sea breezes at the redeveloped Puerto Madero.

Don't miss Casa Rosada (The Pink House), the presidential palace and former residence of Eva Perón.

Arts lovers will enjoy the MALBA in Palermo and the Teatro Colón. Afterwards, catch a tango show in nearby Café Tortoni.

Visit Plaza San Martín, home of the Falklands War Memorial before touring the National Congress building at Plaza del Congreso.

End your day with an evening stroll in Puerto Madero, or dance until dawn in this truly rhythmic city.

The Widest Street in the World | 9 de Julio Avenue, Argentina

The Widest Street in the World | 9 de Julio Avenue, Argentina
9 de Julio Avenue — The widest street in the world is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The street 9 de Julio Avenue, which received its name in honor of the Independence Day of Argentina, July 9, 1816. July 9th Street is located in the capital, Buenos Aires. It covers an entire city block. Autonomous City of Buenos Aires avenue has up to seven lanes in each direction and is flanked on either side by parallel streets of two lanes each. There are two wide medians between the side streets and the main road. The total width of the street is 110 m. Such a huge road was created as a result of joining two quarters running parallel.
Avenue planned to build in 1888 with the name of Ayohuma, but these plans become a reality only in 1937. Construction of major facilities was completed in 1960. The southern connections were completed after 1980, when the downtown portion of the tollway system was completed. Clearing the right-of-way for these intersections required massive condemnations in the Constitución area.
Line C of the Buenos Aires Metro runs for a stretch under the avenue. Line A, Line B, Line D, and Line E have stations when their course intersects the avenue. Notably, lines B, C, and D share a station underneath the Obelisk, which is the focal point of the subway system and features a retail concourse which also serves as an underpass. The respective station names are Carlos Pellegrini, Diagonal Norte, and 9 de Julio.
Crossing the avenue at street level often requires a few minutes, as all intersections have traffic lights. Under normal walking speed, it takes pedestrians normally two to three green lights to cross it. Some urban planners have submitted projects to move the central part of the avenue underground to alleviate the perceived chasm between the two sides of the avenue.

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA ???????? ???? ???? | Where The U.S. Dollar Lets You Live Like A King (4K)

Buenos Aires is often referred to as the Paris of the South. Cafes, green spaces, and artists abound. With year-over-year inflation around 70%, there has, arguably, never been a more affordable time for Americans to visit. Why? Because the U.S. dollar is king. Just remember to pack some Spanish, a pair of good walking shoes, and a carnivore stomach.

After working in television news for 15+ years, I straight up quit my job in February 2023 to have the freedom and flexibility to explore North, Central, and South America, capturing remarkable stories along the way, and sharing them with you right here on YouTube.

Maybe you want to learn more about what's out there. Maybe you want inspiration on where to travel next. Maybe you just want to unwind after a long day at work or school... Whatever your reason, please know that whenever you watch a 'Kevin Across America' video, you should feel less stressed, more optimistic about the world we live in, and I sincerely hope, more motivated to get out there and explore. After all, there's such a lot of world to see!

[Frist Image credit fvyague]

Avenida 9 de Julio, Buenos Aires, Argentina 4K #shorts

Hey everyone, I filmed this walking tour of Avenida 9 de Julio at around 2:30 PM. I started this walk at the corner of Avenida Santa Fe and Avenida 9 de Julio. I walked south until I reached Avenida Belgrano then I crossed Avenida 9 de Julio and head back north toward Avenida Corrientes. This is a distance of around 2 miles or 3.2 km.

On this walk, we'll cross the widest avenue in the world, Avenida 9 de Julio, two times. This street measures an incredible 110 meters across and contains 16 lanes of traffic. That's an entire city block wide. We'll also get an up-close view of one of Buenos Aires' most recognizable landmarks, the Obelisk. During our walk, we'll pass countless restaurants, kiosks, parking garages, book stores, theaters, and all other types of businesses.

Avenida 9 de Julio is one of Buenos Aires' main thoroughfares. It is named after Argentina's independence day, July 9, 1816. At its widest point, it has 7 lanes of traffic flowing in each direction. Due to the width of the avenue, it takes several minutes to cross. Most pedestrians have to wait for several green lights to make it all the way across this massive street. Avenida 9 de Julio was first proposed in the late 1800s. It wasn't completed until the 1960s.
