11. Santiago de Compostela. Hotel Pazo de Altamira is a lovely, modern hotel within a gorgeous old Galician stone building. And it’s right opposite the fabulous market!
10. Jerez de la Frontera. Definitely try and stay at the famous Hotel Casa Grande - a big old mansion with a gorgeous rooftop terrace for drinks -
9. Vera Valley. I would suggest staying in the village Valverde de la Vera and my pick is the cosy and rustic La Picota:
8. Cadaqués. I love Tramantua Hotel, a white-washed gem run by a husband and wife team… service is fantastic, and it’s right in the old city, plus near the beach:
7. Cáceres. We stayed at the budget but good Hotel Iberia Plaza Mayor with views of the square): If you want to stay IN the old city though, the Parador here is a 14th century palace - the full Caceres medieval dream!
6. Oviedo. Prices in Northern Spain are often cheaper, so you can happily get a great hotel here without spending a lot. Check out the excellent Barceló Oviedo Cervantes:
5. Zahara de los Atunes. Either go with Hotel Avenida Playa (simple, clean, and right off the beach - or the slightly more chic Hotel Doña Lola -
4. Las Alpujarras. Casa Rural la Fragua is a gorgeous little tucked away whitewashed apartment in Capileira (either stay here or in Pampaneira). This place is perfect for exploring the villages around the area.
3. El Rocío. I love Hotel La Malvasía with its old-world luxury, the fact it’s only a 5-minutes walk from the famous Santa María del Rocío church and they also have a terrace which is perfect for sunsets.

Bus info: (take the bus from Conde de Casal). Don’t spend the night there. It’s a day trip. But my favourite Madrid hotels are below (in descending price order):

Casa particular muy cerca del terminal ferry. Situada en el corazón de Nueva Gerona (Isla de la Juventud, Cuba). Está a pocos pasos de la terminal ferry, del centro comercial, de la discoteca y de la calle principal de la ciudad. A las playas se llega en 5 minutos en taxi. El famoso Presido (hoy museo) está a solo 10 minutos. No muy lejos se alcanza la playa de Arenas Negras.
LA CASA
Es una construcción moderna con excelente comodidad para el estándar cubano. Garantiza una calidad óptima del servicio y destaca su buena teraza con bar y jacuzzi. Es un lugar agradable para tomar bebidas, fumar un buen cigarro o simplemente disfrutar de un día soleado refrescándote en el jacuzzi.
Cabe destacar que también tiene una sala de billar con aire acondicionado, horno con grill y una super barra en el bar de servicio externo.

Island activities, visitors and things to do, schools, industries, treasure legends, geography, etc. The largest of the 350 islands in Cuba's Canarreos Archipelago, the island has an estimated population of 100,000. The capital and largest city is Nueva Gerona in the north, also the towns of La Fe and La Demajagua.
Also known as the Island of many names, at different times in its history, was called Isla de Cotorras (Isle of Parrots), Isla de Tesoros (Treasure Island), and Isla de Pinos (Isle of Pines). It has some beautiful crystalline beaches, like Paraiso Beach, and it has some of the best swamps for bird watching. This island is also home to the Indian Ecological Refuge, which protects a few species of bird that do not live anywhere outside of Cuba. You can step even further back in time at Punta del Este Beach, and visitors can enter a cave with hundreds of pre-Columbian paintings on the walls. Hawksbill sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs on the refuge’s protected beaches. Further inland, visitors can hike on trails surrounded by pine and mango trees. In addition it has astounding coral formations in the Canarreos Archipelago.

For our honeymoon we decided to visit Cuba together for the first time to relax at an all inclusive resort at Cayo Santa Maria with Air Canada Vacations.

In every sense this was our vacation from travel as we completely went offline. As online workers, it was refreshing knowing we had no access to the internet and that our only immediate concern was to relax and have fun.
We spent the majority of our week long stay enjoying the beach. If we weren't splashing and riding waves in the turquoise water we were keeping cool under a sun umbrella or gazebo. Our biggest concern of the day was deciding what to wear as all of our food and drinks were included for the entire week. Whether we wanted to order a pizza at 3 pm or have a buffet lunch or dinner was entirely up to us.
Moreover, we had the opportunity to drink all kinds of delicious nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages such as Pina Colada, Cuba Libre, Cuban Rum, Bucanero, Cerveza Cristal, TuKola Ciego Montero, Cristal Beer, Cuban Beer and Rum and Coke.
On afternoons that weren't spent at the beach, we often were hanging out at the pool participating in aqua aerobics, yoga, tai chi or life sized chess.
The few times we set our alarms in the morning, we were rewarded with spectacular sunrises and in the evening brilliant sunsets.
There was also a small village at the perimeter of our resort where we could pick up Cuba souvenirs such as Cuban cigars and Cuban paintings.
For nighttime entertainment we enjoyed live Cuban music and dance performances including Cha-cha, Mambo, Rumba and Salsa.
The week flew by and this is the type of Cuban vacation I've always dreamed off. If we reach a point where we feel stressed out or in need of a digital detox we'll certainly considering coming back to Cuba again.
Our honeymoon in Cuba: Cuba vacation in Cayo Santa Maria
This week Sam and I are in Cuba on our honeymoon. Woo! So yeah, we're going to be spending a full week here at an all inclusive. We are staying in Cayo Santa Maria and we are going to be showing you what it is like to just take a week off, relax and not really travel.
I think it is beach time.
After a year and a half of round the world travels, we wanted our honeymoon to be very relaxed and easy going. This was very unlike us, but we didn't plan any side trips or run around touring attractions. Our trip to Cuba was all about enjoying the beach, drinking pina coladas, and cooling off in the pool. The Caribbean is home to some spectacular beaches, but we think Cuba may have the best of them all!
So it is time to play life sized chess. I think I can probably beat Sam.
So how was that easy victory of yours? Huh? Let's count how many pieces I have left. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven. And I only have my King. That is so rude. You didn't let your new bride win. Domination. Domination.

The most work we did was set the alarm clock to go catch a beach sunrise.
One of the best part of being at an all inclusive resort is the endless supply of drinks.

So it must be over forty degrees today and the sea is a bit choppy so it is a perfect day for the pool.
The pool was the heart of the action. By 10 am the crowd had descended for an endless flow of rum. There were also lots of fun activities like water aerobics to keep everyone entertained.
While we didn't leave the resort, we did make some time to pick up a few souvenirs to take back home. Cuban rum, anyone?
And aside from that, we just spent more time at the beach! The waters were so calm and inviting, that we often spent the whole day there just reading book and enjoying the beauty of it all.
And that's a little taste of our Cuban honeymoon. If you're looking for a relaxed sun destination, then Cuba won't disappoint!
