São Miguel is the biggest island in the Portuguese Azores archipelago. It’s known for its volcanic scenery, flora and rich marine life, including whales. Ponta Delgada, the capital, is home to the 18th-century City Gates, Gothic St. Sebastian Church and 16th-century Fort of São Brás. The twin crater lakes of Sete Cidades, one green and one blue, lie to the northwest. To the east, Furnas has fumaroles and hot springs.

12 Best Places to Visit in Portugal | Travel Guide

Tourism in Portugal has been cruising on a wave of success and despite its popularity it continues to be one of the best value destinations. It has it all—a rich history, innovative art, stunning views and super friendly, laid-back locals. Visiting has also become easier since TAP Portugal, the country’s main airline, has increased their stopover program to five days.

Portugal is a gorgeous country to explore and much more than cork products, gorgeous sea and yummy port that it has become famous for. It’s one country that just seems to draw us back time and time again with shed loads of historic cities, gorgeous National Parks and enough bacalhau to satisfy even the hungriest of tummies.

One of the things we love most about Portugal is how unique each of the places feels. You can literally travel 30 minutes up the road and feel like you’re in a totally different country; it really is very special.

Portugal is a fascinating and varied country, with vibrant cities, glorious beaches and wonderful climate. Geographically, Portugal may only be small but there is much diversity between it’s landscapes, cultures and peoples

This is a country dominated by the sea both historically and culturally. There are the magnificent seafaring cities of Lisbon and Porto, the lively beach resorts of the Algarve and the traditional fishing towns of the Atlantic coastline.

The interior of Portugal is as equally varied, from the abundant wine-growing region of the Douro through to the arid hills of the Alentejo. Here ancient fortified towns are set within stunning natural scenery, and there are whole regions virtually undiscovered by modern tourism.

Our visit Lisbon travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide to Portuguese cuisine, top sightseeing tourist attractions including visiting churches, monasteries, parks, miradors, quirky neighborhoods, museums and castles. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Lisbon tourism brochure, Lisbon itinerary or Lisbon city tour also known as Lisboa, Portuguesa.

20 Things to do in Lisbon, Portugal Travel Video Transcript:

We feel like we know this city well, so in this Lisbon travel guide we’re going to show you around what we think are some of the best attractions. We only had 3 days in the city this time around, so this Lisbon itinerary will be perfect for any of you visiting on a long weekend escape.

We kicked off our first morning with a ride on Lisbon’s most iconic tram line:#28 bound for panoramic vistas and a hilltop castle. After postcard perfect views looking down over Alfama we went towards the castle, with a little detour offering a bit of street art.

St George Castle is a Moorish castle that looks down over the historic centre and the Tagus River. It’s one of the main tourist landmarks in the city and you get great views of Lisbon.

We circled back to visit the Jeronimos Monastery. Construction of this monastery was ordered by King Manuel, who selected the religious order of Hieronymite monks to occupy the monastery.

Pastéis de nata were created by the monks at the Jerónimos Monastery, and seeing as we were right next door, this was a very logical stop. After browsing at the Sunday Market we walked over to the Santa Justa Elevator, which is the only street lift in Lisbon for public service.

We hope you enjoyed our Lisbon travel guide and found it useful for planning your own trip. If you have any other suggestions of things to do in Lisbon please share those in the comments below.

This is part of our Travel in Portugal video series showcasing Portuguese food, Portuguese culture and Portuguese cuisine.

Favourite Viewpoint in Lisbon | Miradouro da Senhora do Monte

best view in Lisbon!

Nossa Senhora do Monte

Bom Jesus do Monte - Braga - Portugal HD

The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte (also known as Sanctuary of Bom Jesus de Braga) is located in the city of Braga, Portugal. It is located in the vicinity of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sameiro.

Sameiro:

This Catholic sanctuary dedicated to Senhor Bom Jesus is an architectural-landscape complex composed of a church, a staircase where the Via Sacra do Bom Jesus, a forest area (Bom Jesus Park), some hotels and a funicular ( Bom Jesus Lift).

It was elevated to basilica-minor on July 5, 2015.

His peculiar disposition was the inspiration for other constructions, such as the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies in Lamego and the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus de Matosinhos in the city of Congonhas in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Discover one of Lisbon's most beautiful views. The view from the top of one of the city's prominent hills allows you to write the history of Lisbon with your own eyes.

The ideal spot for combining two must-do activities in Lisbon: riding the tram 28 to Graça and taking in the view from the Miradouro da Graça. For those who take a break in the café or on the walls that encircle it, the church's shade and pine trees provide a spiritual haven. The view of Lisbon from the castle, which is located on the same hill as the castle, is simply breathtaking. The city fades away beneath your feet, the old neighbourhoods go about their daily business, the Tagus runs in the backdrop, and the sound appears to fade away in this serene area popular with those who enjoy relaxing.

We’re Maria and Du, we met shooting a commercial in Lisbon (Maria’s city) in 2018.
We started a distance relationship flying twice a month (Lisbon - Barcelona) and after a few months of that, we finally moved in together in Barcelona, where Du was born and raised (his parents are from South Korea).
We started our Youtube channel because we love traveling, we always enjoy our trips and we wanted to keep our memories through nice videos, now we can share them with you.
Our final goal would be traveling full-time and someday, helping people around the world doing something nice.

Graça, Lisbon ????The District With the Best Views Over the City! Portugal [4K]

Walking tour in Graça, with detailed historical information and context. Graça is one of Lisbon's most charming districts, as well as offering spectacular views over the city! Because Graça is located on the highest hill of Lisbon, Portugal, this is where the best viewpoints are, or miradouros as they are called in Portuguese. The two most popular viewpoints are the Miradouro da Graça and the Miradouro da Senhora da Monte.

Graça dates back to the foundation of a Convent, a 13th century construction under the name of Santo Agostinho. In 1305, this convent became Convento da Nossa Senhora da Graça, after which the neighborhood was then named.
