Best Places To Visit in North Lakhimpur||Assam||Journeys with RJ..
Maghnowa Doul is located at the Phulbari village and also known as Phulbari Doul. This is situated at the East side of the Pichola River and at the bank of Maghnowa Beel. Once it was a major place of worshiping Kali (goddess of power) and a pilgrimage place. Several Ahom kings are also known to have visited the place. During the Maan invasion the idol was kept hidden but was never returned to the Doul. It was established at the present location at Bor Kalika Thaan near Dholpur.The Doul has a boundary wall of about 5 feet height. The main Doul is about 75 feet in height. Inside the Doul is the Bulani Ghar where the idol was used to be kept. The inside wall contains various sculptures.Recently the Archeological Department has done a repairing work to the Doul.
In 1843, the British controlled the Khamti Revolution in Sadia and settled few Khamti people at Narayanpur. They established this Buddha temple at Barkhamti. The Khamti village will be extensively discussed in the next section of this project. Its worthwhile to mention that this village contains some the Khamtis which are only left to a few thousand in number. The people are Buddhist by religion and have a rich cultural heritage.The religious temple of the Khamtis is called the Bapuchang. It is same as the Buddhist temple or Buddha Bihar found among the Buddhist communities around the world. It is somewhat different from the normal Khamti houses. The raised platform is made of wood and the roof is made of thresh. The outer architecture resembles to the Buddhist temples of Myanmar. Buddha idols are kept inside the Bapuchang and it is regarded as a very holy place.
Sri Sri Madhabdeva – born in 1489 at Letekupukhuri in Lakhimpur District of Assam, was an author and a saint-poet. He was the writer of ‘Naam Ghokha’ (Naam Ghoxa) and the founder of the music genre ‘Borgeet’. He was also one of the devoted followers of the social-religious reformer of Assam Mahapurukh Srimanta Sankardeva and a preceptor of ‘Mahapurukhiya Dharma’.

Subansiri River, a major tributary of the Brahmaputra River in the northeastern part of India, has been analyzed in detail for various studies. This chapter describes the origin and course of river, geology, major land use and land cover classification, and soil types of the river basin. It also includes the geological, geomorphological, and climatic characteristics of the Subansiri River basin. It originates in the Tibet Plateau and is the largest tributary of Brahmaputra River.It is very famous tourist place as well as picnic spot.
The Subansiri “Gold River” is the biggest tributary of the Upper Brahmaputra and descends through verdant rainforests in the tribal state of Arunachal Pradesh. It drains the waters beyond the Great Himalayan Range spanning from Tsona Dzong up to the Great Loop of the Tsangpo in Tibet slicing through the Eastern Himalayas to flow into India at Asaphila through the rugged isolated hinterland of Arunachal. It has a run of 170 km in Tibet, 250 km in the Eastern Himalayas and 86 km in the plains of Assam before joining the Great Brahmaputra at the mystic confluence of Majuli – the largest inhabited river island in the world. The river has no road artery linking it on either side of the Great Himalayan Range spanning about 150 km. Very difficult terrain with vertical rock faces with only very sparse inhabitation in the belt has kept and continue to keep the upper reaches of this challenging river isolated. This beckoning river is challenging and demanding. It has volume, flow and adrenal flowing rapids set in a scenic breathtaking environment astride the Eastern Himalayas with its diverse warm-hearted hill people with their unique traditions and customs spread over a millennia with the inevitable change encroaching upon them rapidly.

Agnigarh is a hillock located in Tezpur, Assam, India.[1] In Hindu mythology, it is the site of the fortress which was built by Banasura to keep his daughter Usha in isolation. The name itself is derived from the words 'Agni' (meaning fire) and 'garh' (meaning fortress or wall) in Sanskrit.
3 - Nagsankar Temple -
Nag-Sankar Temple is a famous shrine situated near Sootea, to the east of Tezpur, in Sonitpur District. The temple is believed to be built by King Narasankar of Nagakha in the 4th century.
4 - Kolia bhomora Setu -
Kolia Bhomora Setu is a pre-stressed concrete road bridge over the Brahmaputra River near Tezpur and Kaliabor in Assam, India. It is named after the Ahom General Kolia Bhomora Phukan.[1][2] The bridge falls on route of National Highway 715, previously known as NH-37A.
5 - Mahabhairav Temple -
The ancient Mahabhairav Temple is located at a hillock on the northern part of Tezpur town in Assam, India.[1] This Shiva temple was originally built of stone but the present one was renovated and built with concrete. During the Ahom rule, the kings especially of the Tungkhungia dynasty donated large area of Devotee land to the Temple and appointed pujaris, Paiks to look after the temple.

Dhekiajuli is a town and a municipal board in Sonitpur district in the state of Assam, India. And it is famous for litchi's farms .
9 - hazarpur lake -
Hazarpar Lake situated in Tezpur . andthis is a good place for morning walk and this is a good place for picnic spot .
10 - District museum -
The Tezpur District museum is one of the 12 state museums of Assam located in the heart of Tezpur town. The Museum was established on 16th March 1986 under the Directorate of Museums, Guwahati, Assam. Earlier, the museum was put up in Darrang College, then shifted to Tezpur Sahitya Sabha and finally in the year 2002, the museum was finally shifted and set up permanently in the British historic building �Dak- Bungalow�.. The museum has more than 555 number of objects. It consists of a wide collection of antiquities, sculptures, manuscripts, copper plate inscriptions, manuscripts, Ahom period cannons and craft of various communities and satra institutions.
