Nong Khai is a northeastern Thai province on the banks of the Mekong River. The provincial capital, also called Nong Khai, is a gateway to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, via the Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge. In the city’s east, Sala Keoku Park has giant concrete Buddhist, Hindu and Christian statues. Northeast along the river, the jungle-covered Phu Wua Wildlife Sanctuary is home to elephants, deer, bears and monkeys.

Visiting Thailand's STRANGEST Statue Park (+Trying Famous Vietnamese Spring Rolls In Nong Khai)
In this video we visit Thailand’s STRANGEST statue park (at least according to us). It’s called Sala Keo Ku and it’s located near Nong Khai in Isan. We then also try Nong Khai’s famous Vietnamese spring rolls at a popular restaurant called Daeng Namnuang. This was a really fun day!
Sala Keo Ku statue park was founded by a mystic from Laos called Luang Pu. Construction started in 1978 and the park took 20 years to build. The hundreds of statues that are up to 25m high reflect Luang Pu's spiritual philosophy and wisdom that he wanted to convey to his followers. Walking around in this park is a super cool experience, as there are many interesting statues to discover.

The First Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge connects Nong Khai with the city of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, facilitating cross-border trade and tourism between the two countries.
Phra That Nong Khai: This is an important religious site in the city, featuring a revered Buddhist stupa known as Phra That which is believed to house relics of the Buddha.
Sala Kaew Ku (Sala Keoku): This is an intriguing sculpture park located near Nong Khai, just across the river in Laos. It was created by the visionary artist Bunleua Sulilat and showcases a collection of enormous and eccentric sculptures with religious and philosophical themes.
